And being told who to throw to the whole time...through his helmet...so whatever. His whole career is a sham. Ya, he had some skills, had some great years, but he's never been "elite" in my opinion...except those couple years. Just have to agree to disagree with ya.

To the tune of 3500 yds and an 80s QB rating...sub-7 YPA...elite.

Ya and it don't sit well with me to see the people coddling his sack in the face of repeated cheating, guess we're even.

I've never seen any proof of the second mic theory. I've seen articles on the New York Post about it.

I would be very very happy if Ryan turned out to be as good as flacco.... This flacco underestimating has to stop, that guy is a really good qb

No. Do you have some links where you get your info on the second mic? I'm just being honest...I've seen a couple people throw that accusation around, but can't seem to find anyone actually reporting it, other than a couple NYP articles, and their source is sine stats guy who has a pretty checkered past himself, and is trying to sell a book he wrote.

    Well away from here
He's also been the one mainstay on a team that cheated, more than once. I could really give a hoot about squishy footballs, but they did seek out illegal advantages over their opponents.

If you're being fair, then go all the way. He's good, but he's also benefitted from unscrupulous activities.

First off, the NFL was different back then. 3500 yards was good for 7th that year. With Reche Caldwell. 4000 yards gets you only 11th this year. 7th this year is Aaron Rodgers for 4300 yards. Take into account QB rating inflation due to the rule changes. His 87 is probably mid 90s now, relatively speaking.

In 2005 he led the league in passing. The whole league. Yes, Noodle arm Tom Brady without Randy Moss led the league in yardage. 7.8 ypa for two years before 2006, in a league where passing wasn't as prolific as today. Without Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison or any other HOF WR. Stop cherry picking stats my man.

I'll say this one more time, and then it of this conversation, of you truly believe that Patriots and ONLY the Patriots have been the sketchy stuff, then you are either very naive, or stuck in haterland because the Patriots are in our division. All these cheating things...It's like steroids in baseball. It wasn't just Bonds and McGuire.

People forget the Jets snitched on the Patriots for videotaping because the Patriots threw a Jets employee out for videotaping. Nevermind their guy that stuck a knee out. And then the Jets did it again in 2011 suspiciously with someone capturing a still frame of it.

But Geno Smith so nobody cares lol.

Like I said earlier...no argument matters to me...he's stained, period. NOT elite, not a player of integrity, not fitting to be considered GOAT by ANY stretch.

And DolphinGreg, your opinion carries less weight than anybody else that I know regarding football...the second you posted that you wish the Dolphins could cheat and win some Super Bowls, you ceased to matter. I guess I'll just have to settle for not being as smart as you.

Sorry...gotta throw another comment...so, in your opinion, is Rice no longer elite? Not great? No integrity? He admitted to using stickum. And let's not forget Aaron Rodgers who said he likes to try to get over-inflated bald through the check. If he knowingly had over-inflated balls going to checks, and some made it through, then he was playing knowingly with illegal balls. Is he tainted also?

You can disagree all you want, but Brady has been caught cheating twice on a team that's been caught cheating three times.

Thinking that calls into question his entire career doesn't make someone dumb. Ignoring those facts makes some come across dumb actually.

Do you think it would easier to spread the ball around if you had someone in your ear telling you who was open? Do you think it would be easier to throw the ball if you can grip it?

The Pats did Spygate, extra radio in Brady's helmet and the deflated balls. 2 of those are on Brady directly.

If those aren't cheating.....then what the hell is?

That's not what I'm getting at. I don't care if someone wants to think Brady is a cheater. I'm asking if they are applying that thought to all cheaters, or just those in a Patriots jersey. Why does Rodgers try to get over-inflated balls through the check?

Wasn't the mic thing attributed to Doug Flutie as per Dan LeBatard?

Also, I remember the SI story on Marshall Faulk calling them cheaters after the Rams lost the SB claiming the pats "knew" the plays the Rams were running in goal line situations.

I saw an article from 2007 on ESPN, but none of the people in that article referenced the Patriots in regards to messing with mics.

There's never been a punishment for it, it's basically all hearsay and speculation.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean it never happened and neither Flutie nor Lebatard has ever refuted or denied the mics story. Of course the pats aren't going to address it.

It's all pretty much unprovable, but seriously, who is going to put it past the Pats? They have a shady history of such things and no credibility with most of the league or non-pat fans.

Marshall Faulk has been among the most vocal over the years about them doing things to gain advantages.

I don't understand the Rodgers likes inflated balls argument I see everywhere. He has them pumped up, they get checked, and if they're over the required spec, they take air out to meet it. Did he say he paid trainers to steal the balls post check and hide in the bathroom with a secret pump?

Haha I thought it was Bill Cowher being quoted... and the title had his name misspelled.

Who cares about this guy. We have a good second tier quarterback. There is definitely a 3rd and 4th tier of QB's in this league, so we are doing alright!

Tannehill doesn't have to be "great". Fran Tarkington, Dan Fouts, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino...all great quarterbacks that NEVER won a Super Bowl.

Bart Starr, Len Dawson, Mark Rypien, Doug Williams, Joe Thieseman, Bob Griese, Terry Bradshaw, Jim McMahon, Joe Flacco to name a few....statistically average quarterbacks that won the Super Bowl at least ONCE.

Tannehill doesn't have to be great....he has the be a great leader though

I believe Rodgers said something about being upset if none of his over-inflated balls make it through the check. Let's think about it...if he likes his balls over-inflated, if none of them were getting through, why would he continue to send overinflated balls to the checks?

I'm not saying that the Patriots didn't use second mics. I'm not saying they haven't cheated. However, speculation is not the same as proof, and tainting someone's HoF career over speculation is not cool, I don't care if they do play for the Patriots. Further, saying that others were doing underhanded things isn't me saying that the Patriots get a free pass. It's me saying that acting like the Patriots are the only team, and acting like they had an advantage that no one else had, is silly.

Its one thing to try and get an over inflated ball through the checks, its another to take the balls after they've been checked and alter them.

Its also curious that you claim in one sentence that we should guard against speculation but then you turn around and speculate about other players cheating.

The Patriots lost the right to ***** and be defended. They've cheated since Belichick and Brady have been there. they've been caught multiple times. No one else has. B & B's entire legacy has been plagued and therefore tainted by shady ****. The fumble numbers PROVE the ball gave them an unfair advantage. There's no numbers that an over inflated ball gave Rodgers an unfair advantage, (in fact it probably hurt his team when he was able to get one past checks).

You don't want an asterisks, then don't effing cheat, else everyone has the right to call into question your achievements.

I mean seriously, what type of cheating would Brady have to be busted for, before you'd question his abilities?
