What do you think the 3 best changes are from last season to this season?

What do you think the 3 best changes are from last season to this season?

    1) More Tannenbaum, a seasoned football man at the helm of the organization
    2) The best change is a NON-CHANGE. Going into a new year with the same QB, the same HC, the same OC, the same DC, the same GM, the same systems. That's actually rare for us, so NOT CHANGING any of those is a big change for us.
    3) A high-potential, high-talent WR corps who fits the system.

My longer list of positive changes:
    - Ryan extended
    - Signing Suh (nope, not in my top three)
    - McCain being used at OLB
    - Having Billy Turner in with the 1's
    - Ellerbe and Wheeler for Jenkins-Misi-McCain (with Tripp and others having a shot at snaps)
    - Pouncey back at center (and healthy enough to get in shape before the season)
    - Ahead-of-schedule recoveries for Delmas and Albert (not technically a change, but a big positive that was an uncertainty a few months ago)
    - Bringing in a rookie CB whose upside could be like Richard Sherman (Lippett)

What are your top three positive changes we've made since last season?

    1. I agree with Tannebaum.
    2. I think Suh is a huge change, an addition that should have a ripple effect throughout the entire team.
    3. An offense that is shaping up to be full of players that fit our coach and our QB.

Actual changes (though I agree that the "non-change" of Hickey was good. Hickey is turning out to be a solid personnel guy, imo):

    1. Receiving turnover - love the new group over the former group. I think the top 4 WR spots will all be improved. But, I also think Jordan Cameron will give us more versatility both in the red zone and as a downfield deep seem threat (which will also open up WR's on the sidelines).
    2. Suh & Phillips - DT position will be much stronger (esp. also with younger players improving)
    3. DB turnover - we have a slew of DBs (esp. at the CB position) and I think the competition will be great but I also think that the new guys will really be an upgrade (very happy to be done with Jimmy Wilson). Both McCain's, Bowman, and even a healthy, more experienced, Jamar Taylor will be a boost. Even Tony Lippett could surprise but I think that could be another year away. That said, I feel good about the D-backfield.

(Tempted to put Jay Ajayi in there as I think that could be a huge acquisition; but not ready yet to crown him).

Had the same temptation with Ajayi, and the same reason to hold off. Too soon.

But not too soon to say Devante is amazing after a few no-pads practices!!! lol.

    Best 3 Changes:

    1) Hiring Tannenbaum full-time/signing Suh. I think those two kind of go hand-in-hand. Suh makes this defense better by himself. Tannenbaum's already completed more work on the analytics and sports science stuff in a few months than Hickey did in his first year. I think the 2015 Draft has some of Tannenbaum's fingerprints on it.

    2) Simplifying the defensive formations/personnel groupings. I can appreciate that Coach Philbin took a step back after the season and came away with this change. Despite citing the "body of work" as a reason for retaining Coyle (PPG allowed has gotten worse each of Coyle's 3 seasons from where it was in 2011 pre-Philbin & staff) I think he's pretty on the mark for wanting Coyle to simplify things. Let the players make plays.

    3) Improving the overall talent-level. I like the free agent signings of B. McCain, Cameron, Jennings, etc. and I thought the 2015 Draft was pretty solid from top to bottom.

    Worst 3 changes/non-changes:

    1) Not upgrading the guard spots any more than drafting Jamil Douglas and signing Linkenbach, McClendon, and Walton. This is going to haunt Miami sooner than later.

    2) Not finding a MLB. Koa Misi is okay as a starter in this defense, but they really need someone better. Whether that's Kelvin Sheppard or training Jordan Tripp for 2016, I'm not sure. I feel like Denzel Perryman had to be a 2nd round target as Miami traded down after San Diego drafted Perryman 4 picks before Miami was going on the clock at 47. Jordan Phillips, if he reaches his potential, will be a damn fine pick, but I still think there's a hole at MLB.

    3) If you know me, you already know. I don't think it needs discussed any more.

    1. No more Hartline.
He was a non talented douche nozzle & malcontent. When people see what a real receiver can do in the #2 spot, they're gonna snap to and realize they've been duped this whole time by that beaver faced stumble-****.

    2. Suh.
Suh is all. All is Suh. All hail Suh. He is eternal.

    3. Consistency.
Can't remember when we had it from one off season to the next at GM, HC, OC, DC, QB.

    1) Suh - going to transform our front seven
    2) WRs - going from Hartline, Wallace and Landry to Parker, STills and Landry (and upgrading from Clay to Cameron) has me absolutely giddy
    3) getting rid of dead or dying weight - Ellerbe, Wheeler, Starks, Hartline...AND getting rid of their big contracts. double bonus

Malcontent? Based on what? I can't recall a single time I heard of him uttering complaints or whining, let alone regularly enough to be considered a malcontent.

Still doesn't make him a malcontent, if anything FinD's moaning about it would bring him closer to being a malcontent. Plus, if she's that great that he's still mourning the loss then it makes it less likely that Hartline would be lacking in contentment, right? :)

    1. Love me some Jordan Cameron. He's going to be awesome.

    2. Suh. Stud. Beast.

    3. Consistency. I think it's a good thing even though I do not care for Rizzi. Bad ST play last year imo.

    1) Suh - This team (well, all teams) needed elite talent. We didn't have enough game-changing players, and now we add a new one.

    2) Ajayi - If healthy, he'll jump Miller as the starter by the bye week, imo, or at least take more of the load. We needed to upgrade our lead back. I think he'll give us legit stud performances a la Knowshon Moreno vs. New England. Unlike Miller, Ajayi can get more on his own, run tougher, and grind out yards when you need it against stout/heavy defenses who are expecting run.

    3) Brice McCain - I couldn't believe Pittsburgh didn't keep him, and said as much at the start of FA. But the other part of this is that I think it's very possible Grimes may be on the decline, if only a little, and we're going to need some proven guys who can handle business on the outside. McCain guarded some #1s last season and played well.

I'm loving the new WR corps, like Fin D said people are going to realize how under talented Hartline and others were very shortly.

The addition of Ajayi. The run blocking was very good in 2014, more RB depth will allow Lazor to hammer defenses all game long.

Suh will be a problem virtually every week. Not many teams will run the ball well and even fewer will be able to handle the pass rush. There are issues in the secondary but they'll only show up vs top tier passing games. Ditto for the imo overblown OL issues. Buffalo, NY, maybe Houston have the talent to expose an OG problem but the rest? Nah. Not with the way we run the ball and Philbin's dedication to quick passing.

Jeff Luc is as good as Perryman...you will tell me you think the opposite as you watched Luc at Cinch and you are not sure..Luc was Cincy's Defense..Lol..Well I watched Perryman and Luc all year and for the 4-3...hands down Luc.....for the 3-4..the nod goes to Perriman...Luc is also a playmaking turn over machine which we do need.

Suh and the new-look WR corps are the biggest ones for me.

I know a lot of people (mostly outside the Dolphins fanbase) say that Suh himself won't make this a good defense... well, they're right for the most part. But what Suh does is bring consistency each and every week, and that is something we need from the defense. Consistency was sorely lacked in this defense...while we oftentimes looked really good, we wilted at the end of games and at the end of seasons... and that is something that with the addition of Suh, I think will happen much less frequently.

We won't need the defense to be top 5 in the league, I'll settle for 8-12 as long as they're consistent each week and through the end of the season, because I think this offense is ready to take the next step.

I'll go the simple route on this one and avoid over-complicating my answer:

    1) Ndamukong Suh.

I have now spelled his name correctly going on 5 times so that's already huge progress for me. :) With the draft having come and gone people have gone a bit cold on Suh. He's still far and away the single biggest addition to the Dolphins. It's not even close here guys. He's the best player we added this offseason. He's the most proven player we added this offseason. He fits our scheme as well as anyone we added this offseason. He fills a glaring need as well as anyone we added this offseason.

    2) Devante Parker

This dude appears to be a future beast. I would love for this guy to be what we're all dreaming.

    3) Jordan Cameron

This guy might be the most un-heralded free agent addition to the Miami Dolphins during my era. He's a very explosive TE that we know this offense will love. If he manages to stay healthy, people are going to quickly get very excited about this guy and he may wind up being the biggest offensive addition flat out.

    Best changes:

    1. No more Ellerbe/Wheeler (and the chance that the young LBs do what Jenkins did last season)
    2. Suh.
    3. The number in the column "years of experience at Quarterback"

No, I'm positive he's not as good. I'd be fairly surprised if Luc makes the team in anything more than a special teams capacity.
