Yeah I was very, very high on Weeden. If he'd been a normal-aged quarterback then I probably would have had him evaluated in elite company. His gift for throwing the football from an accuracy standpoint was just absurd to me, and I actually liked his feel for the pocket even though he's not athletic.

Things didn't work out in Cleveland. Well, that place is a pit. Nothing has worked out for any quarterback in Cleveland. But the one thing that I noticed in college that should have made me a little more nervous than I was, was a tendency to hold the ball and wait for late-developing routes to get open. I actually kind of liked that tendency of his in college because it allowed him to maintain his aggressiveness up the field, really pushing the defense to its limits. But he kept trying to do that as a pro and it didn't work out for him at all.

Matt Flynn could never have been your only answer at the QB position. Taking him always would have had to be paired with another move and you do them with the idea that firing two bullets gets you more of a chance to hit the target than one. Russell Wilson was the perfect complement to that strategy because he was (in my eyes) very boom or bust. He was either going to be the player that he was behind Wisconsin's mammoth OL...or his height was going to put him in for a rude awakening (and/or concussening).

Tannehill had a different risk profile. You found it difficult to imagine him ever being a great quarterback. But you also found it difficult to ever imagine him being a BAD quarterback. He had too many tools at his disposal, and was too consistent in what he brought to the table. That kind of prospect could be your Plan A investment even without having a Plan B.

Freaking Culpepper vs. Drew Brees!! Heard about it every day for a year, and consistently since then as well. People still bring up that what if.....
After that it has to be Wanny and Fiedler because that went on for so long. Looking back, hell that was the good ole days of making the playoffs.

Then Ricky, maddness. His leaving, his coming back, and every joint in between.

We want Orton! We want Palmer! We want Flynn! We want Ponder! We want Quinn! We want Locker! We want Mallett!

Those were the good old days. We want Evan Mathis just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I always thought that the most spoiled the fans ever sounded in the last 10-12 years was with Ted Ginn Jr.

I always try to like the players and support the draft picks so it really ticked me off that so many fans took a really arrogant approach to Ginn as though he were a bust.

The guy was a 1st round pick that brought some play-making ability to the team and everyone seemed to just want to tear him apart because he was a deep threat and not a possession receiver.

To me, that's just dumb. At some point, you gotta move on and see it as talent added, end of discussion. But fans would never leave it alone. He wasn't a super star so he had to go!

It's funny that Mike Wallace was brought in as a much more expensive version of the same thing and even now there is Kenny Stills who is being held up as a great addition.

    Really?

At some point you have to admit that if Ginn had gone to a team like the Ravens or the Steelers, he probably would've made a couple Pro Bowls.

Ok, maybe not. But if you like Martavis Bryant--and I'm a Clemson guy so I do--and you hate Ted Ginn...you're an idiot.

Ginn was a bust pretty much from day 1, DolphinGreg I'm going to pretend you didn't say that last line since it was so stupid I won't even dignify it with a response.

Ginn was a luxury pick when we had so many needs, QB being the most important. Quinn may have gone on to be a bust and many teams passed on him in that draft, but still, had we selected him at least the pick would've made sense. Ginn was a glorified KR, we all knew that back then. Seemingly everyone knew that but Cameron, Mueller and die hard homers. And low and behold that's all he ever amounted to. He was petrified of contact and couldn't catch the damn ball half the time. He reminded me of the guy in The Replacements who was the WR, all speed but nothing else. Ginn was one of many picks we've had that were headscratchers that wound up biting us in the *** later.

Thanks for reminding me of all this, I'm gonna drink now.

i will never call Ginn Jr. a bust, maybe an underachiever based on draft status, but this guy made some plays for us that has helped us win ballgames, thats not what busts do, he is also still in the league 8 years in and played in 120 out of 128 games

Well.. Dion Jordan helped us win games, like that blocked punt vs the Jets, and he's a bust (so far). And there are a bunch of players that play a long time in the NFL that are busts (just look at some of the QB's that have hung around). Also gotta take draft position into account when saying someone is a bust or not. Otherwise every NFL player that sees the field isn't a bust. Considering all that, yeah, I think Ginn is a bust.

All of the bad mouthing of Shula by the younger generation of fans when Jimmy Johnson became available. He deserved much more respect than he got and being forced out was just.............Wrong.....bad move by owner Wayne Huizenga and it put us in a bad light 20 or so years ago....all we needed was a GM to work with Shula on the Draft and FA as FA was in it's infancy then. I still harbor resentment over that.

A close second for me, that broke my heart, was when Csonka, Kiick, and Warfield bolted to the Memphis Showboats of the defunct WFL. I really believe that their exit cost us a huge chance from winning our 3rd Super Bowl in a row, which if they stay, I think we get it easily imho.

I was extremely upset with the Ted Ginn Jr. pick at the time, but I will always like him for one PLAY...the beautiful Bomb from Henne to Ginn at 50+ yards to beat the Jets near the end of the game on a National TV night game.

a player that is in this league for 8 years is not a bust, some might have underachieved because of their certain draft positions and expectations but that´s not really the players fault, if you stick in this league for 8+ years (and even get dressed for 120 out of 128 games )you have a certain skillset that translates into making a 53 men roster..dion jordan is a total different situation....and yes he for sure is a bust

Naw, I'd consider someone that was picked 1st overall, and then stuck around as a vagabond backup, a bust for the team that picked them. Joey Harrington? David Car?? Ted Ginn was a bust for the Dolphins. They could have had Patrick Willis (who retired, but was excellent).

Someone who gets them for free gets a deal. The team spending the pick busted.
