5} Brent grimes 4} Aqib Talib 3} Patrick Peterson 2} Richard Sherman 1} Darrelle Revis. show some respect for grimy.. public Poll 1}Revis 2}Haden 3} Sherman 4} Vontae Davis 5} Chris Harris.
How about: Sherman Revis Haden Grimes Vonate Harris is a little too high. I love Peterson but hes a bit overrated being on a top 5 list. Maybe top 10. Talib and Vontae is a coin flip depending on scheme and whether you want the slightly younger player (Vontae). I always was a fan of Vontae's ability to play press as hes got a unique, highly athletic skillset and his technique has improved. .
yeah VD always had that explosive potential..love his game...wont say anymore about that. for me the point of the thread is about Brent, Im not sure were respecting him enough, I feel like I have a grasp of how good he is and whether he's lost anything, and I disagree with some who keep stating that he might be slowing down, just because some numbers dropped in the 2nd half of the season does not mean he's lost a step..I looked for and saw specific instances of his speed and athleticism, and its all good..Grimes is a special athlete with a special body..
He certainly is special...that pick against Detroit, and his pick in the Pro Bowl, were absolutely ridic! His game tailed off through the end of the season last year though...I'm hoping it was just a domino effect of what the defense was going through, and that he'll be back to his uber form this year. Still...Grimes at 80% is far better than the rest of the CB group, so I'm still loving that they gave him a longer contract after his first year.
I'd take Grimes' 2014 over any of the others for what it's worth. C'mon...the guy had a career year and was probably the most exciting CB in the NFL. Give the guy some love for God's sake...he was far and away the best Dolphin on defense last year...yeah, I said it.
I wouldn't put Grimes top 5, he certainly isn't better then Vontae...hell last year he wasn't even as good as Sean Smith lol. that public poll top 5 is much closer to being accurate than Davis and Wilcotts list.
Vontae has no business being anywhere near a top 5. One year doesn't make a player. Especially when that players career is marked by inconsistency.
Idk about one year, Vontae was pretty good a couple years ago too, but last year he took his game to another level, he was downright dominant, adding to the ever growing list of trades Ireland lost.
I cant stand ireland but he got us grimes..and grimes has been a great player since his arrival..not to much you can say about that LB.
