hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. that actually makes some sense. Wade, Corpse of Kobe, Love, Randle, their nice young players plus a high lotto pick, and cap space? Interesting.

Whiteside on NBA downsizing "They're going to have to guard me too down there. I'm a little different from Mozgov. I can score a lot better"

That's it boys and girls. LeBron is coming "home" to Miami. He went back to his ugly ex girlfriend because she felt safe, but he realized he never should have given up on a good thing he had in the super model. Whiteside confirmed it.

Yeah, if that's true, then that is more than fair. If Wade feels insulted by that, then I'm not sure his head is on straight.

I'm super excited to see Randle in the NBA. He could be really fun. Shame he has to play for the Lakers.

I wonder if Wade leaves Miami over a financial dispute, will the Heat fans forgive LeBron for leaving them to go to Cleveland?

I mean, I'm looking at it this way. The Heat won a championship with a young Wade. Then they started to struggle with Wade by himself. LeBron came in, it was his idea, and ushered in an era where the Heat were THE team for everyone to watch in the NBA. Other teams came and went. But for four years the Heat were the Lakers. The Bulls. The Celtics. He leaves and they don't even make the playoffs in a weak conference.

IF things continue like that and the Heat flounder around a bit, trying to hatch plans to get them back to greatness and having them never quite work out, I go back to this debate about whether the Heat should raise LeBron's jersey to the rafters one day...shouldn't they put up all three of the Big 3 jerseys right next to one another? James will have architected the greatest era in Heat franchise history, and yeah maybe some people are a little upset he left to go "home" before his body was done...but I still see this as something that should happen one day. Especially if Wade also ends up leaving over money disputes and the Heat don't just snap back to being a championship team in 2015-16.

"I'm not gonna comment too much on this but it's my understanding that if you hire someone to do your rims and you don't like how they did them, then you can withhold payment. I dunno, maybe they'll take you to court or something but I don't think rim jobs are football related so that's all I will say about it."

They raise that *******'s (Lebron's) jersey in my arena before he thanks us for all we did for him, then it will be the last time I set foot in that arena. AT THE VERY LEAST, they should wait till Pat Riley leaves this earth before doing that.

Wade gets a statue. UD and Bosh get their jersey retired along with Wade.

I don't think the two things are related.

Even if Wade left, he was still the franchise's greatest player and produced excellence for 12 years. Sometimes things get funky in the end (see Packers and Favre) but for guys who meant that much, you eventually make up.

For LeBron, it was not only a short time he was here, but the way he left was not great and he's made it pretty clear in his actions and statements since that his time here didn't mean all that much to him beyond being a means to an end (college) and his refusal to even thank the fans tells you all you need to know.

We have the banners, he has his rings. Why should he receive an additional honor that at least right now is clearly not important to him?

Even if the worst happens and Wade leaves, I truly believe that he will come back someday and rejoin the Heat family in some capacity.

    Agreed.

It's a silly conversation to even be having right now since the guy is probably going to play another 7-8 years at least. It's just not something you have to decide anytime soon.

7-8 years from now you may very well be right.

The AAA might also be underwater at that time, lol.

So, I'm not going to worry about it.

Agree that in 10 yrs you're going to remember the 2 rings and not that he didn't take out a page in the paper. As a franchise you want to highlight the greatness that has happened to your team. I'm guessing in 10 yrs being able to say "LeBron played here" or maybe even "LeBron won his only championships here" is going to be a huge source of pride.

I'm going to remember the four years, not just the two championships. I'm going to remember that for half a decade all eyes were on the Miami Heat and they were the great villain of the NBA, the team everyone hated because they were so damn good. I'm going to remember that those three men did something that has been tried before, and will be tried again, but may never work quite the same way again...ever. And they succeeded because all three were unique in their basketball IQ, unselfishness, and commitment to making it work.

And the winner of the "Completely irresponsible journalism award" is Ira Winderman!!!!

Per Surya Fernandez, Whiteside's response above was to the question "How will you help recruit players to the Heat?"

For the question of the Heat's roster uncertainty, to which Shmira attributed the above quote, Whiteside's actual answer was "I believe in Pat Riley and that he'll make the right decisions"

    Congratulations Shmira Winderhorst.

Right - it's just really hard for me to believe that him not thanking fans hurts more than 4 Finals trips and 2 rings feels good.

Like - I'm a Cleveland fan, so I don't have much frame of reference. But if that's all the more fun it is to win a bunch of championships maybe I don't care about the whole title drought that much.

Watching the NBA Finals this year, it felt weird not seeing Miami in it.

Because it happened four years in a row.

LeBron was the biggest reason for that and I'm not going to be upset at him because he didn't show enough gratitude to the Miami Heat fanbase.

It won't take 10 years. Let's not forget that the guy got a standing ovation when he returned to Miami. The not thanking the fans thing should be held against him, but I don't think the vast majority of fans dislike the guy. There are plenty of people rooting against him, but that's different. The wound of him leaving and the way he did it is still fresh, and the Cavs winning would mean he made the right decision to leave, which Heat fans don't want to be the case. But don't confuse bitterness with contempt or even dislike. This guy will go down as one of the 3 greatest players of all time and he was on the Heat for the prime of his career. He was the biggest part of winning 2 titles and was responsible for 4 of the most entertaining years of professional sports in any Miami fan's life. I don't think Heat fans forget that.

The Jordan thing was stupid. You can barely even see it at the arena anymore, they've hidden it.

And again, why should we retire his number when his tenure here was clearly not that important to him?

He got his rings. We got our banners. He likened his time here to college prior to doing his "real work" in Cleveland.

I don't understand why the Heat have to keep showering this guy with affection when doesn't even want it.

All you have to do is compare how he's acted this year compared to when he left Cleveland. He apologized for the Decision, constantly went on and on about how great the Cleveland fans were, and said that he wanted to play in cleveland again someday. Nothing of the sort has happened with the Heat.

And to be clear, I don't expect it to, nor do I want it to. But don't ask the Heat to continually shower this guy with honors that frankly don't mean anything to him. Even when somebody asked him at Christmas about the Heat retiring his jersey someday he said "If they do, I'll show up"

Gee, thanks for doing us a favor LeBron! F him.

Maybe but acting like it helped them that two All Star players were hurt is kind of nuts. The Cavs were a really good team in the second half of the season and with Love and Irving they could have won that series, I don't think its really that much of a stretch to say that.

I must be the only heat fan that had no problem with Jordan's number getting retired he changed the NBA completely. Wayne Gretzky had his number retired by the whole NHL and no one *****es they both had the same impact on their respective sports.

Based on what though? Besides "hope"? Most of you had them pegged as lucky to make it to the ECF and they one upped that without 2 young All Stars.

I see zero merit in that prediction other than the same ole agenda round here.
