I remember the two rings now and I'm thankful for what James was a part of. I'd be all for honoring those teams that brought those rings and obviously James was part of that, but I don't feel any great need to bestow any additional honors on him. I also wouldn't care if they did decide to hang his jersey. It wouldn't be that meaningful to me nor would it feel like an insult either. Basically, I don't care either way.
Hanging Jordan's jersey was stupid and IMO a mistake. I wouldn't use a past mistake as the reasoning to hang Jame's jersey.
That's how I feel. I don't see why there's some perception that Miami isn't grateful enough. Maybe when he retires they'll want to hang his jersey. If so I'm fine with it. My guess is that those will be his only championships and it could make sense that one of the greatest players ever gets his jersey hung in the only place he was able to win it all. But I also believe that Riley will have more success. We might even have more titles by then. James, in my mind, is one of the greatest players, but not the biggest part of Miami's success. I have Riley and Wade easily over him. And if things work out well Bosh may pass him in terms of Miami success as well.
30 for 30 Episode: "What if I told you there was a city that was such a blight on humanity that God has taken it upon himself to make sure it never sees success?..Wednesday at 8:00PM..when "Mistake by the Lake..just Nuke the place?" Airs on All ESPN Platforms.
For whatever reason...I like Sports historic losers. When the Red Sox finally won..I kinda felt sad for it. Cleveland is special. They are losers in every sport since 1964. If we are only counting super bowl era championships, they are winless in that era. I think it would be really cool if a Baby Born today in Cleveland...Died at the age of 108 years old and never saw a championship. We kinda "Root" for the world's best Losers to Lose. We are just admiring people that are really good at what they do.
Now, If I had to bet....I would say that if the Cavs return the core, and add some decent reinforcements (nothing major), they will be in the ECF's and beat Miami in 6 games. That is just my educated guess. In 16' Miami will be better positioned to defeat them. But the "Cleveland" factor tells me that Lebron will get injured, Dan Gilbert will go to Jail, the League will be disbanded, or the earth will be struck by a asteroid.
exactly, if our losers win then what's the point? America needs a loser. Ohio when it comes to professional sports is our loser.
Seeing golden state win yesterday gave me as much joy as Edgar Renteria's walk off single. The good guys won.
Adding insult to injury the Ravens have been a model franchise and have multiple Superbowl Championships since going to Baltimore lol. I loved that Cleveland fought to keep the name and "records" for their Browns as if that was something Baltimore wanted. lol.
Wade tweets about all the cool stuff he's done this month and then states "it's been an interesting start to June..." Twitter Detective, premieres tonight on The Phins
Tuned in to Lebatard earlier. Such a disappointment. No rant, and instead spent an entire hour talking about Wade going to Cleveland. He can be the biggest sellout sometimes. The towed the company line with the ESPN pity party for Lebron.
Wise of you to say "professional sports"....because you may wanna just accept Ohio States dominance, or stop watching college football.
Relax. OSU has great fans, a great football program...but you got 4 titles in modern era, and 2 since we were born. DA U has 5 -1/2.
If Gilbert went to jail, I would not root against the Cavs as hard. That is the God's honest truth. I loath him and hope he never wins anything.
The interesting thing is, Mike Miller wore Marino's "retired" #13. How did that happen? I never got that question answered. Is that like an honorary retired number. Could someone really wear 23 if they wanted?
And it was a also a slap in the face to Marino's contributions to the Heat organization. It's a shame he never did win a Larry O'Brien .
Chicago has a Michael Jordan statue, New York has Babe Ruth, Lou Gerig, Joe Dimaggio, Lakers have Jerry West, Magic and Kareem, Cleveland..............has a statue of Jim Thome.................
Man - didn't realize Heat fans thought losing in the Finals was such a colossal failure. Sucks you guys were such a laughingstock joke of a team in 2011 and 2014.
Marino is honored at the AAA. His number is not retired. Napier is currently wearing it. Miller wore it. The only number that is retired besides 10 and 33, is 23. Pat Riley wanted to start a league wide movement to retire 23 leaguewide, and it never caught on.
We have Wade, also LeBron, Shaq, Pat Riley, Mourning, Hardaway....Marino, the undefeated team, a whole host of HOFers......and we had the best RH hitter in Baseball History in Miguel Cabrera.
You are the "other" team in most of those cases. Simply say you house the greatest QB of all time, drop mic and enjoy the rest of your Thursday.
I didn;t mock the Jim Thome statue. But Tim Hardaway is a HOF Finalist...so...I can certainly mock it if I wanted to.
Uh. No. We ARE Lebron's Legacy as of right now. Wade is an ALL-TIME great. So is Pat Riley. SO...nice try.
