It felt like a Dolphins home game after that victory, huh? Delhomme had me sweating at the end. However, Henne, Ricky and Bess had awesome games! What a fun night!
Nice to meet a fellow survivor. I was at the Ted Ginn Game at the Old Meadowlands in 2009. That was scary. I had a Dolphins hoodie on with a small logo on the front, that's it. A buddy recommended I shouldn't be too flashy, especially since I wasn't sitting with other Dolphins fans. Miami won the game and on my way out, I was going down the escalator from the endzone section and there was a Dolphins fan maybe 8-10 people in front of me. He was obviously drunk and was trying to start a "Let's Go Dolphins!" chant. 5 Jets fans waited for him at the bottom of the escalator and beat the crap out of him before the cops stepped in. Best NFL fans, that aren't Dolphins fans, that I've encountered are Packers fans. And, best fans all-around are LSU fans. They literally don't care what team you root for, where you're from, whatever, they're just at the game to party. A buddy of mine and I went down to Knoxville for a UT vs. LSU game and met a group of them at the hotel we were at. Invited us to their tailgate the next day just because we told them we came in from Cincinnati to see an SEC game and had no rooting interest in either team. Great fans!
I went to the Dolphins-Giants game in 2011. My dad had season tickets and they were on the 5 yard line in the middle section. Seats were nice but I couldn't make out anything that was happening going down the other end of the field. I also went to the Dolphins-Ravens game in 2010 and sat, literally in the last row of the stadium at the 40 and those seats were great. Sure it was high but I could see everything unfold clearly.
Yeah, filing out of the stadium had the same feeling as when I was at a college home game after a victory. It was really cool.
@TomGarfinkel 10 hours ago Stadium progress... Jan/Feb/Mar and yesterday... Looking forward to September!
is that living room sh^^ happening on both sides of the stadium?, i thought it was one side?, that concrete section on the right that isn't a living room section right.?, just seats they haven't changes to aqua I'm hoping.
No DJ, There putting them on both sides..very disappointing for lifetime season ticket holders lose their prime seats for this garbage..living room my a$$. Ross blew it with this decision. There are families that have held seats in that section since the sixties and the Orange Bowl....way to let them know how much you value their lifetime loyalty.
They are both club style seats, but not both are living room style. 1 price point for the insanely rich 1 price point for the moderately rich
Wow....had not realized this. I hope Ross made up to those ticket holders in some kind of fashion. I guess we will have to wait and see what it looks like, but I cant imagine it not sticking out like a sore thumb on game days. I want to see a stadium full of packed maniacal fans...now we will see one sections smack dab in the middle of everything...this one area of ultra rich. Seriously, isnt this kind of sending a bad message? Pan to Full Stadium on Game Day.....crowds going nuts, its elbow to elbow, except for the ultra rich snobs who havent even managed to find the field by first quarter. More and more Im thinking this could look horrible....am I wrong?
I can pretty much guarantee its gonna look stupid, especially because of our late arriving crowd, the seats are not like the rest of the stadium, there is standing room concrete and couches and sh^%.. if it backfires hopefully they don't continue to pimp it and will make the lower bowl unison with everything else.. its pretentious, it goes against everything that the original concept and message to create a better home field advantage stands for, its ineffective for the team purpose obviously, but they will make more money from the living room seats in the heart of the stadium...should of put a pool there to go with it... its gross on multiple levels in terms of what it stands for.
Good question Bryan...but how would he replace 50 yardline seats to those displaced fans...you got me, but he netter offer them all a suite or something..I just do not understand the logic behind these "status rooms"..oh,look at me, look at where I am at...I can bring my customers for an oitdoor party fun in the sun, and if you like football...even better...that is the status monger talking...why is the NFL trying to price the working families out of the equation...that area was already pretty high priced...but it was taken up by mostly long time diehards. I will miss hetting to sit there..I know that.
that section is gonna bring down the energy.. their gonna be socializing and sipping their mixed drinks while were trying to pump up the team. its a bad mix, and wouldn't be surprised to see hostility amongst the two types of sections.
That is possible..probably be women in big old hats sipping mint juleps thinking they are at a horse race???
thats my visual as well..just folks who are probably at the game for the wrong reasons, to show off weath.
Exactly. ..you hit the nail on the head..they better hope that I do not get in somehow..I will wake them up.
No, but we will have to wait and see what happens..who knows, they may have added more helicopter parking..lol
so there was a chance of what I always wanted to happen, happen...They have a lot of money, they didn't want to play at sun life anymore, and we needed a new venue..something could of been worked out.
Yes, it looks like it. Oh how I wish Joe Robbie would have just refurbished the Orange Bowl, but if memory serves me well, I think that he could not get the City to contribute so it was cheaper for him to build new. But refurbing the Orange Bowl would have been perfect...so now Beckham comes along and wants to partner with UM. That is frustrating because 1) They are in a contract with the Dolphins and helped bail them out when the City decided to tear down the Orange Bowl, and The Canes were desperate needing a new home and 2) The University of Miami could have built a stadium on Campus after awesome fundraising after the 81 Champioship through the 80's through 2001, their last championship...they could have probably built 5 stadiums...so now that Ross spends all of this money to refurbish JRS which was great of him to cover all cost..now Miami wants to pull out to team on a 40,000 seat stadium with Beckham? This pisses me off. I guess Miami has decided they are no longer interested in Big Time Championship Football...that stadium would be no bigger than FAU's stadium plus they are trying to screw Ross to get out of their deal. What in the world are they thinking?...Heck, Beckham should work a deal with Ross to use JRS@The Ross, to play soccer..everyone has said that it would make an awesome soccer stadium...I am just disappointed in my Canes and a little confused.
the trend in soccer in america is to build smaller very intimate stadiums so that the fans can be close to the action, so in return in helps build the culture of the sport...{what a novel idea eh} I don't know what the hurricanes are thinking though, I don't know of any big time college division 1 program who plays in a 40 thousand seat stadium.. they just should of locked themselves in a room with ross and figured out a joint venture, but both parties were just not smart enough to get it.
Yes, it would have been nice, but do you know where there is enough property in Downtown Miami to build a stadium? If not...it seems a new venue would have to be built west past the burbs?
Ive heard that there just isn't any property in the area but where are they thinking about putting this place with the soccer venue?
DJ here are the different "Seating experiences" http://www.newmiamistadium.com/seating-experiences/ Club 72 will be on the south sideline. Those are the huge seats, with the "living room" experience. The other sideline between the 30's will be the "North Sideline Club", wider and padded seats that are focused on being affordable (ya right)
gotcha, so the one side is for the Kentucky derby crowd and the other side has those big puffy seats made for comfort, both sections in the heart of the lower bowl..both sections taking important bodies from the action, both sections go completely against the concept of making it a better home field advantage..it's a joke and I hope it all backfires on them where they have to redo it with normal seating..pisses me off....no other stadium in the league has this bs..but it sure will be cool for the Super Bowl suits... I hope fans throw beer at them..lol
That is the goal of the renovation. Super Bowls bring Miami money, they bring the sponsors money, and most importantly they bring Mr. Ross money. College football has been doing this for decades now. They have moved the students farther and farther away from the action because they can charge $$$ for the good seats. The atmosphere suffers but the schools make $$$
yeah i get it..thank goodness for the roof, cause that about all were gonna get out of this home field thing.
I am not sure Deej...I think (don't quote me), that I had heard that it will go in Overtown..but like I said I am not positive on it though...tough place to put a venue imho.
Oh, I made a mistake..update is they are going to put it at Marlins Park What, are the Canes planning to drop to a lower division or what.
so if we could put that thing there, we couldn't of done the real thing there?..remember the object would not of been jerrys world, it would of been the blueprint that seattle has..
http://www.nba.com/warriors/sf check this out and you'll see the continued stupidity that surrounds this topic.. the warriors have the most intimate venue in the nba, the logistics of the stands are closer to the court than in any other venue, duhhh, hence the reason their venue is considered the most intimidating in the nba.. their building them a new one, and now its all about wifi, digital media, views, shops and restaurants, and get this, concerts and theatre events...not one mention of how important the home field advantage is.. i swear man, there is such a gigantic hole in the market for an architectural firm to come along and market what I'm talking about its not even funny.. they really don't get that it provides a competitive advantage for their team, thus creating a snowball effect for everything that is the warriors..unbelievable.
