Never going to happen. The Heat are pushing back against the idea of players owning the teams. Wade to Cleveland is far more likely than Lebaron to Miami. Wade would have to convince the FO to bring Lebaron back but LBJ is already dead to Riley and Wade isn't exactly in the best of positions at the moment. Arison isn't Gilbert and I don't see him wanting his team to become a foil to Lebaron's ambitions rather than the catalyst it was from 2011-2014.
Could be, but the reports were that LeBron actually liked having Blatt as coach because he knew he could push him around.
Riley will create the San Antonio Spurs like team before he creates another superstar "Big 3" ran team. The next time Lebron comes to Miami besides as an opponent or to visits A-Rod's clinic, will be to see his number retired. He wont be back again and we are going a different format this time.
I think if they were told he would have a career like Battier's they wouldn't be disappointed. You obviously hope he can be more than that, and he has the potential to be much better, but again, you are picking 10 in a sport where more lottery players than not flame out. You have to have realistic expectations about what you're going to get with that pick. Shane Battier was a good player for a long time.
Thing is they don't really have Kevin Love at this point and even LeBron isn't giving indicators that he would like him back. So everyone keeps talking about when Love comes back but I don't think that's happening. Irving yes. And I think you could be right about Blatt. But Love I doubt will be part of the Cleveland picture.
Ainge offered a bunch of draft picks to Charlotte including Brooklyn's future unprotected first round pick and Charlotte said no. Wow. We got extremely lucky.
Its like when Detroit drafted receivers four years in a row and they finally landed a good one in Calvin Johnson... Keep drafting until you find gold I guess.
I absolutely see the Wade and LeBron comparisons in Winslow. I think he's probably going to fill out a bit more as he grows in the NBA. I think it's crucial for Winslow to play with Wade if he's going to take that jump. His athleticism is definitely there and his IQ is very high. I think Wade's old man game could help him learn some skill moves that keep him fresh and healthy through his career. If we get a Winslow who can get his from pure ability but can substitute it with skill when favorable that would be amazing. FiveThirtyEight has him listed as the third most likely player in this draft to become a star and one of the best chances to become a long term starter (one of the lowest bust chances at 23%, Russell at 40%+). I think the FiveThirtyEight article is what spawned the Shane Battier comparison. They don't play alike, but FTE placed him as very likely to be in that long term contributor mold.
http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2015/06/boston_celtics_draft_rumors_da.html Pretty good read on everything the Celtics offered, quotes are from Ainge. He basically called Jordan an idiot today lol This guy sounds so salty..
Listening to the Zaslow and Joy show podcast, their overlapping Knicks fans reaction to selecting Porzingis with the "shame, shame, shame, ring ring" sound from the Cersei walk of shame from GoT, one of the best sounds I've heard this year. Can't stop laughing.
Which is interesting because if Jordan was an idiot for refusing then Ainge is admitting he was an idiot for making that offer.
Interesting that of the four guys many of us took a shine to (Stanley Johnson, Justise Winslow, Devin Booker and Willie Cauley-Stein), they're among the top seven in FiveThirtyEight's superstar probabilities. The other three guys were rated so high I never bothered looking. We also took a shine to Hezonja but it looks like FiveThirtyEight didn't evaluate him.
They didn't bother with international prospects. Mudiay is noticeably absent as well. My guess is the model doesn't account for international competition or production.
I love it. they're going to get Greg Monroe in a couple weeks.. and they have that ridiculous Carmelo contract for 5 years, a guy that some say has a degenerative knee. They drafted Kristaps Porzingis because theyre willing to wait 3-4 years down the road, they know theyre not winning anytime soon. James Dolan is 60 though... I don't know how much longer he can wait but with Kristaps you're going to wait and pray it was the right choice. By the way, they won't be in the playoffs next year and the Nuggets have the option to SWAP picks next year, and I believe it's unprotected too. If the Nuggets don't choose to swap, the Raptors keep the pick I believe (that Andrea Bargnani trade bro).
It's funny that, adding to all the win that happened for Heat fans yesterday, Tim Hardaway Jr. also escaped the clutches of the New York Knicks.
I'm watching our boy Josh Richardson go up against Kentucky. It looks like he's playing point and the 7'1" Willie Cauley-Stein is D'd up on him in man. SMH. That's a unique player right there (WCS). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_RctOWG2Rc
False. That report was from frank isola. He hates the team he covers. He also left out that Anthony sat next to Jackson at Porzingis workouts.
LeBatard saying that Riley was very conciliatory last night and that everything he's heard from the Heat is that they don't really understand why Wade feels disrespected. Or as they put it "the pawn on the chessboard rather than the Queen" He also said that Riley, if there was acrimony on the Heat side, could have easily leveraged Wade last night by suggesting that if it didn't work out, we have the replacement, but that he did the exact opposite. So, long story short, the Heat really want him back and don't really know why he's angry.
I don't expect him to make the roster or anything but I'm excited to watch Seth Tuttle during the summer league.
It's a nice get though he was pretty damn good in Northern Iowa. I remember watching him against Wichita State this past season and he stood out big.
Christian Wood signed with us... many thought he would be a first round pick... and he was shocked he went completely undrafted... 6'11 216 lbs. long stride with pretty good athleticism. Nice numbers in UNLV Strengths https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyt5McHmIKg Weaknesses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua-6iCI8Mo0 Alonzo and Haslem can definitely fix those weaknesses... you tell him you're not shooting three's, EVER, and you're not Kevin Durant. And that will fix it.
Where did you see that? That would be a great UDFA get. No risk, high reward. Here is what Chad Ford says about him:
The game I was referring to, Northern Iowa vs Wichita State where Seth Tuttle had a great game, 29 points 7 rebounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0wPoI124Vw He also had another good game @ Wichita State about a month later where he went 6-8 16 points 8 rebounds in a losing effort. Always been an efficient scorer for Northern Iowa. I follow a lot of this since I pretty much bet on every sport out there except for cricket and rugby lol
Actually I misread, he hasn't signed with anyone yet. Thought I read he signed with us. Damn.. well here's hoping..
Josh Richardson is one fast SOB. Kind of a combo 1-2 guy really. Couldn't be an offensive threat against Kentucky though.
So Dragic Wade Deng Bosh Whiteside With Winslow coming off the bench? Add some more shooting and that's enough to contend for the East now.
I'm saying his price took a hit. If Riley wants to get him at 5 years 90 million instead of the full max, last night helped.
Speaking of a lower cost shooter, am I crazy to think we might be an attractive situation again for Ray Allen? He still lives in Miami, and presuming everything goes right, we're a contender in the East. With the tax difference our MMLE is better than Cleveland's MMLE He knows our system. With Winslow, he wouldn't have to play as much during the regular season, etc.
Ray Allen has back issues. Keep that on the down low..meaning..don;t put that on Twitter. He would have played for San Antonio or Miami last year if healthy. I was told this by a VERY reliable source.
That's a shame. Jesus Shuttleworth always has a spot on my squad. Cold hearted killer of a shooter, and if you give him a shot at a game winner? [emoji33] He was always the player that terrified me with the Celtics.
If the Heat don't know why he's angry… that's sort of a disconnect, isn't it? It's that same type of disconnect that led to the Heat being blindsided when LeBron left. I don't interpret this as a positive report.
