Yeah.. say the word "indispensable" to a team's chances to win, and I agree Suh is top 2 on the defensive side. I still think Watt is better.

As good as Kuechly is at #3, there's a huge drop off between top 2 and him.

Suh was definitely the biggest addition of the offense and if nothing else had happened I'd look for Miami to be a Play-off team simply by adding him.

The fact that Miami upgraded at WR2 and (hopefully) replaced their WR1 with equally talented or better options is a huge addition as well. Mosley, Phillips, and the multitude of DBs and LBs the team added will help, too....but none of that seems to be as important as Suh in my mind.

Suh will help repair the biggest area of weakness on the defense--the unit that I think was the biggest factor in Miami missing the Play-offs.

The cynical part of me thinks that once the media see him as a Dolphin for a year or two he won't be buzzed about anymore.

I don't know... I feel like Wake is AMAZING and only gets a LITTLE buzz because he's a Dolphin.

Concerned Suh will suffer similarly, despite being dominant.

(Maybe if we break Tom Brady and they can't put him back together again, it'll put us on the map)

No Bpk, that's just you suffering from Depressed Dolphin Syndrome (also commonly known as DDS).

Suh is already on the map, will keep himself on the map, and put us on the map!

I cant want to see what the beast (wake) is going to do. Offenses are going to have their work cut out for them when we "release the kracken" with Suh

Holly crap ---- check out 2:30 of the video. Wake's pass rush is so strong he lifts the line men up into the air a foot off the ground and that dude is a load!!!

Detroit is not a media favorite. So I'm not worried about that.

JJ Watt is #1, and the next couple of spaces should be blank.

from what Watt can do from a turnover perspective and how he converts to points, I see where your coming from, but if there is a hole between 1 and 2 then theres a hole between 2 and three..

Am I the only one who thinks OV will have "the" monster year because of Suh? It's going to be hard to keep him when his contract rolls around...

It could be. When you look at Wake's sack totals he's been up and down throughout his short career:

    2010: 14
    2011: 8.5
    2012: 15
    2013: 8.5
    2014: 11.5

    When you look at Vernon:

    2012: 3.5
    2013: 11.5
    2014: 6.5

Obviously Wake's ceiling/floor are a bit higher but there is a clear pattern of increase and decrease that hints we'll see both DEs get to about 10 this year.

At this point, OV is as good as he's ever been and he's been very good at staying healthy. There's no reason he can't be a huge factor this year. He was very good last year.

I think it's better to look at total sacks by everyone on the DL instead of worrying about who specifically might benefit how and by how much from Suh. The stats you put up just show how variable sacks by anyone on the DL can be from year to year (kinda like WR TD's.. can be highly variable from year to year).

Our DL has been very consistent each of the past 3 years in terms of sack production: always around 30-32 total. One good way of measuring Suh's impact will be to see how that total changes.

Suhdoesn't just demand an occasional double team, they really need to double him almost every play, he gets off on the snap so fast a center just has no leverage..

I'll bet money we break our team sack total.

I expect a good season this year but next year after everyone has worked together for a year is when it should get really good.
