Well, they're looking to shed salaries, at least in terms of the tax, because the guys we're paying tax on, like Bird and Rio, just aren't worth it. Maybe for a player like Gallo, the tax is worth it, since he is a strong addition to your bench, who actually would be a difference maker, unlike those other guys. He's an expiring as well. Meaning if things aren't going well, we could probably dump him at the deadline to reduce the tax burden. He's a career 37% shooter form 3 and shot 35% even in his injury riddled year last year. Again, if we have one or two guys that shoot that well from 3 this year, we will be in the ECF. I think he's worth the tax. But I also think this is BS so it doesn't matter anyway, lol
That deal makes sense on some levels, but for the most part doesn't make much sense for either team. It saves the Nuggets a little bit of money, but not really enough to lose on purely talent in the deal. For the Heat, it would give them a shooter which they badly need, but does nothing to alleviate the tax burden (it actually adds to it slightly) and hurts the Heat's depth at PG and C/PF. They would almost certainly need to add another big at that point, which I guess could be Boozer. I would welcome this deal, but I am skeptical that the Heat or the Nuggets would be interested in it.
The big we're going to add is in Summer League with us right now. Give me Willie Reed over Boozer anytime.
Also we have TJ playing the point quite a bit in SL. I think he could end up the primary backup there
I like what both have shown, but it's really hard to take the summer league at face value. Every year there are lots of guys that look great there that never amount to anything and guys who struggle that go on to do well. I don't know that you can pin important roles like that on two players yet to prove a whole lot. I worry about Johnson's ability to be a primary ball-handler as he turns the ball over too much, and Reed is a big question mark.
Agree with everything you say here. Gallo is clearly a talent upgrade for us. I'm not sure it's a good idea from Denver's perspective, but we've been hearing that Gallo is on the trade block for at least the last month. IMO Gallo is a better shooter than his numbers show. He's battled injuries for much of his career so I think that's deflated his numbers.
Agreed. The thing that's shocked me if that Reed doesn't have more blocks in Summer League. He's really getting out there and lots of lift but somehow these guys are floating the ball just barely out of reach. Some guys don't get blocks and you get it because they're not being that athletic or aggressive. He is, but still not getting them.
Heat have had interest in Gallo before. I don't think they are inquiring about Gallo now. That trade does not make sense.
Apparently DeAndre Jordan is having second thoughts about joining the Mavs and the Clips are putting on a full court press to get him to renege on his verbal commitment to Dallas and come back to LA. Not that I care that much, but seeing Cuban embarrassed in such a public, humiliating way, would be SWEET.
And on a completely unrelated note, can someone please lock Dwyane Wade and Goran Dragic in a hotel room without telephone or internet access until Riley gives them their contracts at 12:01?
Wow. DeAndre Jordan is completely screwing up two franchises right now. This might have further repercussions as well if he decides to go back to The Clippers. Dallas could decide to tank, lose Carlisle and possibly try to jump in and take Hibbert from Indiana with his expiring contract. Interesting turn of events. I really don't understand why the NBA has this moratorium between when free agency starts and when they can sign. Seems oddly unnecessary to me.
In all seriousness, if Jordan goes back to LA, does Cuban make good on his threat to tank? Would they back out of the Wes Matthews deal? Trade Parsons? Trade even Dirk????
I think ultimately, DJ ends up sticking with Dallas. Too many issues arise if he backs out. Plus, his relationship with CP3 is supposedly FUBAR. If true, I don't know how he comes back to L.A. ad plays alongside. Such a strange set of events.
That's the thing. This is Supposed to work correctly. Blame the media and teams that like to leak BS. The reason they have this moratorium is due to Cap rules, and the NBAPA asking for it.
HOLY CRAP! Now we got full blown Emoji Warfare. I propose: JJ Redick and Chandler Parsons thumb war Preliminary, and Ballmer vs. Cuban Main Event fight to the death with spoons, and a rolled up Wall Street Journal.
Hilarious. Full Blown Emoji Armageddon. Best part of this Emoji war: Paul Pierce doesn't know how to use them.
The NBA is the best league in the world. This stuff just doesn't happen anywhere else. It's so funny to watch how seriously the NFL takes itself after following the NBA.
If you guys didn't know...... The Atlanta Hawks have the clear cut (NOT EVEN CLOSE) best Official Team Twitter account in ALL OF SPORTS. They are in on this emoji war..and taking out fools.
Just got made aware. Today is the 5 year anniversary of Lebronauka. So Happy Lebronauka to all my fellow Heat fans.
Summary of the emoji nonsense. Truly funny. https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/3ckzak/the_deandre_jordan_emoji_wars_a_summary/
Hey PhinO...to commemorate Lebronauka, are you gonna shake your fist angrily at your TV around 8:30pm tonight?
Per Jared Zwerling, Pat Riley meeting with Amare Stoudemire tomorrow and Amare is strongly considering signing with us. If we sign Amare, we must have a Bird trade lined up, no? Why spend the mid-level on him when you have a logjam? Unless he's taking the vet minimum
whoa! Amare Stoudemire HAD A monster season last year! http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/1727/amare-stoudemire When did this happen? I thought he was dead.
Amare can play the 5 and is actually an offensive mismatch for most guys at that position. Bird would be the guy most likely to move in that scenario
Now Zwerling is saying that if Jordan goes back to the Clippers, staying in Dallas becomes a greater possibility for amare. Why would Dallas bother at that point?
I wonder if ESPN will replay it as if it were live like stations do for 9/11. My daughter is only 2 so I'm worried it's going to be hard to explain to her that sometimes Daddy sits in front of the TV and cries.
