This the same Shabazz Napier as last season? Damn. Playing really well. In terms of a roster spot, I don't know if you can live his shortcomings on defense, but he's a natural pg/floor general/distributor.
Wow DeAndre, if you made a verbal commitment once you shouldnt back away from it. He definitely going to get boo'd the **** out of him in Dallas...
I think Tyler Kalinoski is now 4 of 8 from three point land in summer league. Considering his reputation at Davidson and Miami's need for a perimeter threat, I think they have to take notice.
It's all fun and games till we have to come up with a Max Contract to give to Willie Reed. Who the **** is this guy? THAT BOY'S GOOD!
Per Aldridge: New numbers for 15-16: MLE: $5.464M; Taxpayer MLE: $3.376M; Room MLE: $2.814M; avg. salary: $5.739M; Biannual: $2.139M.
This DeAndre Jordan stuff is amazing. Clippers standing guard at his house denying entrance to Mavs representatives. This is utterly hilarious!
Well supposedly DeAndre has already indicated he will return to the Clippers on a five year 110 million deal, he just planning how to break the news to the Mavericks..
Word is, he won't even take their phone calls. This guy is mentally weak and I wouldn't even want him on my team. Be a man DeAndre!
Well that is the Clippers way... Remember 7 years ago when Elton Brand verbally committed to the Clippers on the condition they signed Baron Davis to a long term deal first. They ended up giving Baron that deal and when it was time to call Elton to commit to his side of the deal, he disconnected his phone (literally, no bull****), didn't bother to call or anything, and signed with the 76ers instead. Douchebaggery is what the Clippers' teach.
https://twitter.com/blakegriffin32/status/618960135050825729/photo/1 Blake Griffin tweets this out. LMFAO.
If DeAndre Jordan re-signs then I hope we see a re-election of the President of the Players Union. CP3 needs to be let go ASAP. You can't have the leader of the players union doing **** like this in free agency.
****ing ******ed that this can happen. Totally screwed an entire offseason for Dallas if he backs out.
Just passing this along; Videos in the link, albeit ones that don't offer much. http://deadspin.com/a-sure-why-not-theory-explains-why-the-mavs-might-lose-1716605439 Cuban out partying with Blake lol.
Summer league not over until the final game obviously but it's interesting to me that Josh Richardson is 4 of 6 from behind the arc and Tyler Kalinoski is 4 of 8 with a better reputation as a shooter. I haven't seen the Clippers game yet but I was just complaining about how Willie Reed hadn't managed to block many shots even though he's looking dangerous down low on defense, very athletic. These players have been managing to just barely float the ball over him somehow. Guess today was reversion to the mean time, had four blocked shots. Obviously Miami will look to keep the two guys they drafted Winslow and Richardson but Reed should be next in line after that. If the Grizzlies collect 7 points tomorrow then they're in the final against Orlando White. If they get only 6 points then I think they have to outscore their opponent by 11 points to get in over Miami.
This dumb *** clown show jordan just guaranteed a lockout for next cba. Honestly between this and LeBron leveraging the cavs to sign players under his agency to fatten his wallet. I cant see how the owners dont *** **** the players next cba.
I think it's very cool what Clips did. You may not agree with money or whatever but the fact that he was their guy, and they WANTED him so they literally barricaded themselves inside his house and he was cool with it, that's pretty awesome. Reminds me, to a lesser extent, a rally HEAT threw to get UD to comeback to Miami, which was HUUUUGE. Honestly thought he was gone. Point is, organization cared and they did everything in their powers, not just agent meetings, they appealed to the human, which is cool as hell.
I'll preface this by saying I haven't watched any of Summer League, but those are tiny sample sizes, no?
I think it was smart of LA, but it says a lot about Jordan and not in a good way. He either A) was too much of a ***** to step in and do something about them barricading him from the Mavs, or (more likely) B) was too much of a ***** to tell the Mavericks no on his own and welcomed this nonsense. Either way he's a *****, and certainly not a guy I would want to pay over $100M. That being said, I would have loved to be around Mark Cuban today. I can just picture him stomping around like a petulant child.
In more important news, Barry Jackson is reporting that in addition to meeting with Amare tomorrow, the Heat have also scheduled a meeting with Marcus Thornton. Personally, I think my top choice would be Gerald Green, but I'd be very ok with Thornton.
Wait, Jordan didn't even get a 5 year max deal in LA? So in the end, he really didn't even get much more money at all. Wow. I respect him even less now. Sure it's an $88M deal in LA compared to $80M in Dallas, but California has some of the highest state taxes in the country compared to Texas where they have no state income tax. The way LA blitzed him today, he couldn't have gotten a 5th year out of them?
That is one douchebsg franchise in LA. I dont even like the Mavericks or Mark Cuban but that is just wrong. anyways the clippers will never see a Finals appearance regardless, but wow. Doc must have done some begging to CP3 to please make up with DeAndre because Glen Davis is all they got left after DeAndre.
Jordan likely didn't want a long term deal. He cited Griffin possibly leaving in two years and uncertainty around retaining talent moving forward. If those guys leave, he'll only have to fritter around in LA1 for a year without them before moving on. Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
WOJ BOMB Heat sign gerald Green to 1 year deal. Great pickup. Get Amare for the minimum and we are ECF bound
Spurs pick up Ray McCallum from the Kings for the 3rd spot PG in exchange for a 2nd round pick. SBNation - "THEY BROKE RULE 17 OF THE NBA GM HANDBOOK: Never trade with the Spurs! The Kings dealt Ray McCallum to San Antonio for a future second. This is a bad idea not because McCallum is a future star (he's not, though he has the potential to be a nice player) but because if the Spurs want a player YOU should want a player. If R.C. Buford or Gregg Popovich say, "Hey, can we get That Player for a future second?" you need to immediately sign that player to a max. That's the rule. That's how you avoid getting Spursed."
Gerald Green is the very best fit possible. I thought they had no chance at him with the money they had. Green had a career year playing with Dragic two years ago. I am sure that Goran vouched for him. They somehow landed him for the money they had. He is the clear cut BEST 6th man/Guard/swing available in Free Agency. Pat Riley strikes again.
Clippers didn't do anything wrong. They did what anyone else would do in that situation. This is on Jordan. He reneged on a handshake agreement, which is his right under the moratorium. But he didn't even have the courtesy or spine to take Cuban's calls. That's low. You've got no problem shaking his hand, taking his money and setting the course for that franchise's future. But when it's time to be a man and own your decisions -- run and hide. Not to mention how badly the fallout has damaged Dallas' free agency overall. If I'm Dallas, this guy is #1 on my **** list as long as he breathes. He gets fouled hard and often. You turn off the hot water when LA comes to town. Whatever. What an *******.
