That would be a great way to get our other 2nd round pick back that we traded for Brandon Marshall. Arizona is probably the most likely team to trade with us for him.

There were many moments where Henne looked like a promising QB, he was just never able to take the next step.

After that Jets MNF game I thought he was going to be a star. Just never happened.

You definitely weren't alone back then. You always get flamed big time here when you criticize the Dolphins QB, no matter who it is.

I never liked the Chad Henne pick or the player, but I supported him up until I couldn't take anymore.

I never thought he'd be a star, but I was very much in favor of the team drafting him and was happy to have him. He certainly seemed to have the potential to be at least an average long term NFL starter. I think that the continued reliance on the WC in 2009, along with odd play calling hindered his development a lot. We'd be moving the ball well, get inside the other team's 35 or so, and then go completely off script and get cute and boom, there goes the drive.

Add to that the fact where that same year, our team dropped the most interceptions on defense (thanks Sean Smith!), while our opponents dropped the fewest in the league, making Henne and our offense unlucky on both ends, from field position to giving it away. It chipped and chipped away, until finally when he got hurt in San Diego, it was all but over. I feel bad for Henne, because I think there were scenerios where he became a much better player than he developed into and was our starting QB for a number of years. However, we're also better in the long run for it, because Tannehill is better today than Henne ever was, and his ceiling is several rungs higher.

I remember that 2009 season vividly. The big game against the Jets. The game winning drive against Tampa. Big second half comeback win against the Pats. Huge 4th quarter
    comeback against the Titans.

I went into the 2010 season really excited about Henne. He seemed to have that clutch gene. I really thought he was the guy that would be our first real QB since Marino. He was very frustrating because he would have these moments of brilliance, and then throw 3 interceptions the very next game. He was a model of inconsistency and he could never climb over that wall.

I remember being very upset when he flamed out because all I could think was "when is this QB search going to end?"

And now we have Tannehill, who has improved each and every year. I'm cautiously optimistic he is the guy.

guess who was the 2nd player we drafted that year after Jake long and before Chad Henne??

The awesomeness man, Phillip fat *** Merling, guy was shaped like spongebob...

Chad Henne was by far the third best qb taken in the entire draft that year....lol.....wow, this is a tough league man.

I didn't like the Merling pick at any point. What a waste of what was essentially a first rounder.

I also remember being highly optimistic on Henne going into the 2010 season. And being surprised when he regressed instead of taking the next step forward. Henne proved what pretty much has become a indisputable rule in the NFL these days: When you're starting QB can't post a TD/INT ratio on the right side of 1.0, time to find a new starting QB.

I hated the Phillip Merling pick. Really had me scratching my head. I loved the Jake Long pick at the time. If he could have stayed healthy we would have had a Richmond Webb caliber type LT protecting our QB's blind side for the next 10+ years. Also, I really wasn't that high on Matt Ryan, and I still don't think he's elite. Just a good QB.

It was the wrong year to have the #1 pick, for sure. My preference was to trade down and pick up a haul, but the offer was never there. After that, I felt that Matt Ryan was worth a mid 1st rounder, not the #1 (something I feel has proven true since then), so Long was the right choice by default.

Absolutely. I would have traded down practically anywhere in the first round that year if the compensation was fair.

I was just looking at the 2008 draft and it was a REALLY horrible draft from top to bottom. Of course, when we have the #1 overall pick it would end up that way.

I was looking through some old threads and saw some comments from mommabilly before we knew he was Richie's dad. What he had to say about Jeff Ireland was intriguing given what we now know. Nothing earth shattering, but slightly more interesting given that we know that his opinion had to be formed in part from what he was hearing from Rotten Richie himself.

The same question but for Tannehill.. How many are better? Romo, Eli, Rivers, Luck, Brady? An argument could be made for Flacco.

Wont be hard finding that debate around here. It normally becomes an argument but i think most recognize he is somewhere between 12-15.

    But more importantly ascending.
