http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...e-undrafted-rookie-mickey-baucus-has-retired/ One of the longshots to make the Dolphins roster won’t be taking a shot at all. The Dolphins just announced that tackle Mickey Baucus will retire from the NFL, ending his career before it began. Baucus was signed as an undrafted rookie, after a four-year starting career at Arizona. The Dolphins didn’t elaborate on the reason for his decision.
Maybe he saw that there was no real shot for him to make the roster. Loved his size at 6'8" 310 though.
Sucks when your body lets you down. Hope he got a good degree at AZ and has a great, fulfilling life. Tough time to stop playing the game you haven't stopped since a little chap. He's gotta keep going.
Woah! Look who it is! There's a familiar face... uh.. name. As for Baucus... must have been something going on behind the scenes health wise, or maybe he saw the writing on the wall for himself and what a struggle it may be to crack the roster, or any roster. This is where a developmental league would be a great thing for the NFL. Give these guys a chance to play, and compete, and improve.
