He's more than this though, right? I mean isn't he pretty damn fast? Not MW fast, but fast. I'm looking forward to seeing him. He plays w/ attitude that I like.

Speaking of Sam , he just left Montreal for the second time this year . No loss however as he has done virtually nothing and got the minimal playing time he's had undeservedly .

He's got some challenges and not on the field ones . Dealing with mental and anxiety issues among other things . Completely a non factor . BTW the Alouettes are the tema that Cato is QB'ing now.

I only have one practice to go off of.. but yeah he's quick on short and intermediate routes and fast on the deep ones. He runs cleaner routes than Wallace ever did, he tracks the ball when it's in the air, he can high point it, he catches it with his hands. Just let him get healthy, I'd rather him take the time now so it's a non issue during the season.. same as Parker. Because of that we get to see Matthews more and get a better evaluation on guys like Hazel, Preston, Byrd, etc.

I didn't hear about him doing anything when he was healthy. I follow every beat writer on twitter. His name has not come up. There has been zero evidence of a defined role for him. Just stating an observation. Meanwhile, Mathews is having a strong camp. Someone will not get as much playing time. Does anyone who follows practice even remember him catching more than a ball or two or doing anything of notice. Mathews has some fire in him. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

I like Will Davis. To be honest, I thought he had some real flashes of good upside during his limited time playing. I never really understood why so many fans seemed willing to write him off. He was a 3rd rounder. Taylor was a 2nd rounder. They are both in competition, or at least should be. Maybe I'm wrong but as I remember, Davis has been fairly reliable when healthy and has made a handful of decent plays. He seems to have a real knack for breaking up passes. For a young guy without much experience, I take that as a real positive.

And on that same note, I never understood the favoritism for Taylor. According to Fox Sports, he started 3 games last year and is "yet to record an interception or a pass deflection." I just don't see why Taylor is getting so much support. Is he really that good in camp?

I mean, I think Rishard Matthews kind of showed during the 1st pre-season game that he's going to be a reliable option early in the season, so that's a situation where my doubts were probably wrong. I think he might be an asset. He seemed sharper and quicker than I remember him ever being. Maybe he's taken a real step forward.

I just haven't seen that from Jamar Taylor though.

Cool story bro.. I've been to multiple practices and I'm going again in the morning. His name has come up (limited), your "observation" skills just must not be up to par. And not many had a defined role three days into camp fyi especially a guy that wasn't on the team last season.

He's participated in three total practices (July 30th/31st, August 1st) in training camp and only one was in pads, I don't know what you're expecting to hear about a guy that's been doing rehab assignments and conditioning drills on the sideline. I just told you what I saw with my own eyes before the calf.. again let me repeat, there's nothing else to see right now HE HASN'T BEEN PRACTICING FOR TWO WEEKS.

Thats the best I can do from where I'm at. Thanks. I'll take your word on it based on your observations. Part of the point I was making was related to the opportunity that Mathews has taken advantage of and has done a good job. Someone is going to get more playing time. We are blessed to have a deep field at the position.

I know, I didn't mean to come off as an a**. After being there the beat writers just don't always tell the full story nor do they tweet everything or every play that happens.. the only time there is just one thing going on is when it's 11 on 11's. Matthews has been great though, I've always liked him and knew he could play well for us. I don't think you can ever have too many good guys at any one position.. injuries happen, guys need a blow, down the stretch of the season, etc.

I look at it like this....it is impossible to have a great D without a great dline. Impossible. Its also really hard to have a great dline.

    We have a great dline.
