We traded up to get Dion Jordan. How about imagining we picked Eric Reid at 12 (he went 6 spots later) and keep our 2nd rounder we used to trade up? That solves our FS problem with a pro-bowler and gives us an extra 2nd. I don't think it would have played out that way though. If we don't trade up for Jordan, we're probably picking Eifert since we needed a TE.
Bottom line there, our O and D are not good enough to overcome our special teams. IF there is a coach that needs replaced it's Rizzi.
That's why you draft Cedric Thompson. I feel like it was inevitable like it would be if a guy like Moreno were to get a ton of reps, almost glad it happened now. He wasn't the future at the position anyway and you could tell by his contract.
I was near the offense today, lots of dropped balls by Stills and the Tannehill interception was his fault also. Wasn't today his first day back to a full practice?
I just got in and checked to see if there was anything new to report on the Dolphins. Reading that Delmas was injured and is probably lost for the year is not exactly the type of news I was hoping to read when I checked in today. Hopefully the young safeties can step up and deliver quality play this coming season. As several posters already noted, the decline in the play of the Dolphins defense started with the loss of Delmas last year. His leadership will be difficult to replace, but good teams are able to replace starters with quality backups. Hopefully the Dolphins are good enough this year to have those type quality backups, because I have no doubt Delmas isn't the only starter who will miss games this coming season.
The defense started the season a little shaky last year, but from games 4-12, they played fairly effectively, except against the Broncos in Denver. Delmas was injured against the Ravens in game 13 and over the last three games, the defense and especially the secondary completely fell apart. Hopefully that decline in the play of the defense was just a reaction to the players realizing they wouldn't make the playoffs and they just didn't show up for the last three games on defense. I only state that because hopefully the loss of Delmas for the entire season won't have that type of negative effect on the secondary for the entire season.
Yep, though Rizzi's units in yrs past were Top 10, last yr..right into the crapper with Sturgis leading the charge and Fields falling off from his previous effectiveness. As for Delmas, ppl like Walt Aiken, I personally believe Michael Thomas could fill that role
That ambulance was actually just brought on to keep an eye on Misi, in case he hurts himself signing autographs.
It actually started WITH the Denver game, not after. Miami gave up 660+ rushing yards in the Denver, Jets and Ravens games, giving up 39 points to Denver and 28 to Baltimore (they were fortunate Geno Smith saved his drubbing of the Dolphins for the finale) and lost 2 of those 3. Delmas was hurt late in the Ravens game; it's false that the collapse started AFTER his injury. In fact, the run defense actually got marginally better after the Ravens loss.
Actually that might be closer to the truth than we realize. Hopefully the Dolphins aren't expecting Misi to be healthy much this coming season. He never has been the most reliable in regards to staying healthy, but since signing his big contract two years ago, he has been more injury prone than he was prior to the new contract. A much smaller Zach Thomas always showed up on game day, but Misi appears to be made out of glass. I hope one of the free agent LB's or the veterans can make Misi expendable. Because I will be totally surprised if he ends up being healthy enough to play in 50% of the regular season games this season.
I think LB is the scariest part of the team even ahead of O line. I haven't heard of any of the newbies making any noise.
You'll be surprised if Misi does something he has done every year of his career? I'd be surprised if he didn't play half the games, certainly not the other way.
delmas may be a good football player when healthy but his body is built wrong for the sport, sometimes I stay away from players who just dont have the right kind of body.. we need to stop relying on his to be our emotonal leader.. Heres to hoping cedric thompson picks up the system quickly..I know hes got the leadership capabilities, o lets hope his game translates.
As crappy as this Delmas injury is, is there a silver lining to be found in the fact it happened now and not later? Instead of planning on him being there the team has a chance to adjust mentally and tactically before beginning the season to know exactly who it is who's going to have to get the job done. Better now than later - if it has to happen.

What mind blowing analysis on the part of Armando! Damn near on the philosophical level of Socrates with that quote. No **** we will look around.
