Just realized there's no more room at the back of the endzone. Don't lead your WRs THill. Bullet endzone passes my dude.

It is nice to see so many fans showed up for a preseason game. The stadium looks great in the pictures. Now all the team needs to do is have a winning season so fans will decide to show up for the games instead of staying home and watching it on TV or finding something else to do on game day.

No matter how great the renovated stadium might be. In South Florida, all that matters is putting a winning product on the field if you want to fill the stands. Fortunately it finally appears the talent is there to do just that.

Kinda a weak comparison to exaggerate things. The 2012 one is clearly pre-kickoff... where as the 2015 one is during the game when more are in their seats.

That said, it looks great... and the seats that are empty are a lot harder to identify now that they aren't bright orange... making it look fuller.

While you make a valid point in comparing the time of each game when the pictures were taken. Having been to over 300 regular season and playoff games in Miami and many preseason games. It has been a long time since I can remember that many fans showing up for a Dolphin preseason game. Looking at the fans and the stadium ALMOST makes me regret moving away from South Florida and relocating to Maui. Well, not really.:wink2:

I suspect getting a look at the updated stadium had something to do with it. Yet the excitement of finally having a talented roster and a legitimate playoff contending team is likely the reason the majority of the fans showed up last night.

I love the stadium, thought it was funny when we scored a td, and they showed the guy in his recliner sitting and clapping with his phone on the charger..

DJ, you and I have gone round and round over this stadium issue for the past few years. Now that the first phase of the renovation is done, I am happy to admit that by the pictures, it certainly looks like they greatly improved the stadium.
From what I understand in talking to some friends who still live in South Florida and remain season ticket holders. Some seats in the lower bowl have been moved closer to the field and the stadium now appears to be more fan friendly and it should help in creating the better atmosphere you have been writing about for several years now.

I know how happy you must be with this first phase of the renovation plan and I am sure you are looking forward to the covering being placed on the stadium before next season begins.

While I still feel it will take a consistently winning team to fill the stadium each and every home game. I am willing to admit that it finally appears Ross has upgraded the stadium in such a way that the fans might now assist in giving the Dolphins the home field advantage they have not experienced in many years.

I know you now live in California, but hopefully you will get the chance to watch a home game live and in person in the new and renovated Dolphin stadium within the next few years. Perhaps you will even get to attend the next Super Bowl game played in Miami. I hope so, since you have been the biggest backer of these renovations for the last several years on this forum.

yeah im def happy about the changes, for the most part they seem to understand some of the things that kept folks away besides the poor play..The canopy is going to help on many levels, fans from running to the concourses at first sight of rain, keeping them in their seats during play, fans depleted of energy to cheer when their battling heat stroke and extensive sweating, also a more closed in feeling that will make the players feel more in the spotlight..

There was an excellent article written and posted in this thread about selling season tickets to opposing fans in the past, that has been rectified and will no longer happen..ill get out there soon.

The canopy should also give the Fins a bit of a real home field advantage too, if the sun studies are correct. The Fins bench will be in the shade while the away team is in the sun, baking away. I'm excited to see it in action a year from now.

I was speaking on the phone earlier today with one of my friends from Miami who attended the game last night. He too was very impressed by the renovations . His only complaint was that he ended up being moved a few rows over from where his seats used to be, but he said he is fine with it now after watching the game from the seat last night.

Because of some travel plans we have this year, I won't be able to fly to Miami. We haven't been back there since moving to Maui nearly two years ago. My buddy made me promise to visit him during the 2016 season. He buys 6 season tickets through his company every year and he stated he will put aside two tickets for any game my wife and I fly in to watch next year. It will be nice to see the stadium after the canopy is in place. The covering should certainly help the noise level rise in the stadium when the defense for the Dolphins is on the field.

It will be great to return to Miami and catch up with some of my old friends but the nicest part will be once again being inside the stadium and rooting for the Dolphins with a pro Dolphin crowd all around me. There are a few Dolphin fans I have met here on the island, but the majority of the fans root for the Seahawks, 49er, or Raiders.
The hardest part of the football season for me since moving out here is how much I miss being at the games when the Dolphins play at home. After going to so many games over 40 years in Miami, I still miss the thrill of sitting in the stadium and rooting for the Dolphins. It just isn't the same here in Maui when I get up, have breakfast and the game comes on at 7:00 am in the morning when the Dolphins have a 1:00 pm game. I don't know if I will ever get used to watching a game that early.

Thanks for posting your updates on the stadium and the team. This forum is the best way I have of getting the latest updates on the Dolphins on a daily basis and I actually enjoy reading all the comments now more than I did when I lived in South Florida.

I don't know about any of you but, watching the beginning of the broadcast Saturday night almost gave me a Boise State-like headache. I don't know if it was just the HD broadcast or the huge TV or what but, all those new seats were like an aqua laser burning into my retinas. Not sure they will hide any empties like previously thought.

I'm very curious to see if or how the skyboxes have changed. My brother does the skybox buy for his company and I can usually get a seat when I come down (except for NE games since the company's home office is in Boston so those seats tend to be snapped up by corporate bigwigs). Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it down this season, but it would be cool to see it after phase two is complete.

The stadium looks awesome in all the pictures. I was in Atlanta last weekend and saw the local broadcast. The aqua seats and walls around the field were coming through like nuclear powered neon aqua during pregame. I found myself squinting.

It won't be empty when we are playing..I love it that they are no longer selling seats that were purchased by the opposing fans.If people would just learn to get to your seats by kickoff, then it will be beautiful.

Lots of problems yesterday at the home opener, aside form the play on the field.
Traffic was some of the worst I've seen since we moved from the OB.
They blocked off the middle lane of 199th Street and made it a private lane for the best ticket holders.
This created a lot of confusion and people u-turning to try to access their usual parking areas.

Then we had the longest lines we have seen since just after 9/11 to enter the stadium. I don't know why that was the case. They seemed to be fully staffed. Maybe there were problems with the ticket readers? All I know is it took 20 minutes to move 20 yards.

Frustrating pre-game capped off by the worst home opener ever.
Is it any wonder people are staying home to watch on their HD's?

Home game 1, opening drive. Half of the time I was in my seat, I had to stand up to watch the field. People kept coming and going even before the game got out of hand. Hopefully this changes.

Dolphins getting ready to raise the roof at Sun Life Stadium

"It truly is going to change the entire dynamic and aesthetic of the stadium,"

"The really interesting activity will begin in January after football concludes when a self-propelled mobile transporter will begin ferrying truss pieces up to 485 feet long to the stadium."

"It will take 14,000 tons of steel to hold the flat canopy, spanning 672,000 square feet with a cutout over the field, about 360 feet above the ground. The canopy is a rubberized, flexible membrane with a translucent inner lip."
