And Giants got a ring while we went 1-15. I pretty much had no basis of argument against them. And they mostly felt that Allen's play looked better only because our team was worse.

If they do, I'll start to wonder whether Parcells and Co. are the ones who need a marijuana test.

I don't know. I'm certain taking a look at Carter is not because the Dolphins are looking for him to be a starter. So I wouldn't read into it like that. Yet, since the Dolphins aren't going to cut Henne or Beck, it's not like he'd be competing for the #3 position either. Most camps we've had a 4th QB to handle the reps. Yet most camps we didn't have this many young QB's fighting it out for 1,2, and 3.

I'd say this is either doing Quincy a favor so the Dolphins can add a 4th QB for camp. Or they are just trying to send a message. And perhaps a mix of all three.

Well, they do keep giving me the 1-15 statement over and over. Even though I don't think Allen is that bad, I don't think he's as good as everyone here says.

Forgot to also mention I get **** from Chargers fans about passing over Brady Quinn, signing Cam Cameron, and how Cameron was really a Chargers double agent who got them Chris Chambers. Dunno why you remind me of those things. :wink2:

Don't blame Carter. This is being done because the veteran QBs on our roster haven't shown that they are legitimate. This screams about the player many thought here would win the QB job.

This is either a statement to John Beck that he needs to get it together (and quick) or worse, a realization from the organization that JB isn't the player they think can lead this team. In any case, its horrible news for Beck.

I think this is 100% correct. This, IMO, is all about Beck. If they just needed another arm for TC, they could get any of the street FA QBs who don't have any baggage.

The fact they are working him out shows they are looking for a third QB on this roster and want to see if QC can be that player.

I have no way to know for sure, and I know so many of you are so very emotional about Beck, but it appears that this FO is very close to making a decision about JB, and it doesn't appear to be positive. I hope I am wrong.

Well, we know these guys aren't just "Randomly" bringing in QC. There is a reason behind it. What could those reasons be?

    1. Its no reflection on Henne. No one expected him to start (at least not in week 1).

    2. It could reflect on McCown, but most reports seem to suggest that he has been the best of the three.

    3. It could (and IMO, it most likely) be a reflection on JB. We heard reports earlier in the week that he was having trouble physically making throws and that his throws had "wings". This is after a concerted effort in the offseason by QB coach David Lee working on his release and throwing motion.

What else could it be? If it was philosophical (Lets have 4 QBs in camp) 1. they would have already had a fourth 2.They wouldnt' bring in QC.

There is something about the current crop that has the FO unsettled. We can only speculate what that is.

Why do you think its "loyalty crap"? BP has a long history of success in this league. He doesn't commit "random acts of loyalty crap" with no reason behind it.

For Henne, this is correct. For the other two, its been more. Perhaps they are seeing the same mistakes as they have seen in the past. Maybe they aren't seeing the progression they expect. Maybe they are just sending all the QBs a mental message, "hey, start performing better."

Guys...all of these coaches have been around doing this for a living for decades. They have all seen numerous young QBs. They not only get the benefit of seeing the players in current practices, they have the tape of every practice, of every play these players have had. They can tell if a player is making improvement or not. If he is not, its their job to bring in others who can.

I didn't read the entire thread but this is just insane. There are guys like Byron Leftwich out there with no job and we bring in a re-tread like Quincy Carter? Are you kidding me? I love having Parcells as our VP, but this self indulgent BS with old players has to stop.

If they're bringing in Quincy Carter, then they should just bring in Daunte Culpepper. He wants to play for the Dolphins.

Are you guys coaches or something? I ask because I don't know. I am just curious as to what expertise you guys are relying on for these evaluations?

One would hope that we would be find with the QBs we have..but obviously, the coaches (and legitimate football people) don't agree.

Now lets be clear...I think that questioning power and holding people responsible is the right way to be, its just until there is a record of failure (ala Nick Saban in year two) then we have to trust the people hired to turn this thing around.

I agree. I think everyone who is throwing the "Carter is a drug addicted crappy QB" sentiment around needs to look at the more important picture.

Something made this FO think about bringing in another QB and its not the play of the secondary. Why did this happen? Thats the question (regardless of what we think about QC).

Killed him in the past? Pardon me?

Uh, he won two SBs, one with a backup QB. I'd say he knows how to put QBs in position to win games.

Furthermore, hes the only coach in the history of the NFL to take 4 teams to the playoffs. He took three of them to CCGs.

I don't know how you guys can be down on Parcells for anything.

Its "only been 5 practices" to defend QBs who have NEVER accomplished a thing in this league, but a man with HOF credentials is getting his legacy questioned? What gives with you guys?

If a benefit of the doubt is to be given here, its Parcells who should get it. I think he deserves it; I think he's earned it.

Bledsoe and Testaverde were legit big time QBs in this league and Lucas was 6-3 as a starter under Parcells.

You know, I really liked Quincy when he was with the Jets in 2004. He stepped in for Chad, went 2-1 (should've went 3-0 if it wasn't for LaMont Jordan throwing an interception in the redzone that was returned for a pick 6), and brough a downfield passing attack to the Jets that we havn't seen, except those three games, since the days of Vinny T (98-01), and for a little while Chad (02).

I've been really surprised that he hasn't gotten a shot as I think he has more talent than Culpepper, Leftwich and Aaron Brooks. Hopefully he signs on with Miami and gets another shot because he could step in and start on that team.

Good luck Quincy. YOU DA MAN!

Don't let your dislike for Parcells blind you to truth.
Brunner was drafted under Ray Perkins (along with Simms) when Parcells became HC Simms continued to start.
Henson was "the next big thing". Parcells wasn't the only one fooled into thinking Henson was the guy.
Carter???? Parcells cut Carter pretty quick after his drug issues were known. Nonetheless, that team went 10-6 with Carter as QB
Bledsoe in NE, Testaverde in NYJ, Simms in NYG.......how are they "wrong QBs"

Yeah, he is being brought in for a work out, not to start at QB. There is a HUGE difference.

There is absolutely no way that he would get offered anything more than just a base contract regardless.

I think if he gets signed it is basically an indictment on Beck more than the other two guys...

    Confirmed by Sparano

Quincy is here and we will have a workout with Quincy,” Sparano said. “This is just a workout. That’s all it is. It’s a look-see. … Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcells will do their due diligence on every player that’s out there, whatever way we can help our football team down the road.”

“i have been pleased with the three quarterbacks and what they’ve done right now. I think the competition is really good,” Sparano said. “It just means we’ve got to make sure we’re doing our due diligence on players that are available.”

Still does not make much sense to me but they are the football guys.

Ok fine, now that Parcells is here, wanna bring Lucas in? Or Bledsoe? Or Testaverde? Exactly. Bledsoe for a while was a big time QB but that's about it.

In the 1980's, game's changed my friend. You need an elite QB to take you to the top (i.e. Peyton, Brady, Roesthlisberger). That's why Parcells hasn't won one since. Passing games rule the NFL now when combined with a decent defense. Parcells QB's have been game managers. I never defended our current set of QB's but the game has changed and I'm not sure Parcells has either. I like what he's done with the defense and running games but in terms of QB's I don't think he makes the right decisions there because it's not in his philosophy to have an All Pro QB and focus on that. He's had great guys who can pick out QB's in Sean Payton and David Lee but they seem to have little to no input on personnel issues.

No, the facts certainly support my case. I'm not the one here posting with a lot of emotion right now.

And speaking of letting emotions get ahead of oneself, I don't dislike Parcells in terms of his abilities to produce a quality defense and running game (both OL). I just question whether he has the mindset to allow a good QB to groom. I see the Romo saga and that gets me worried.

Um, no do your research, Simms was benched for Brunner from the get-go by Parcells and only when they went 3-12-1, did Parcells relent and let Simms return.

I never though Henson was the next big thing. I thought he was an overweight unskilled QB who suffered from being in baseball and he proved it.

Yea, he cut Carter only because of his drug issues. And again, team went 10-6 in spite of Carter. He was summarily replaced even before the drug issues with Bledsoe.

Several career low 80's rating QB's aren't wrong QB's, but they aren't right ones either.

I didn't bring up Bledsoe, Testaverde, or Lucas. You, or one of your fellow complainants did. I was just telling you that they weren't that bad.

Uh, Regan, this has always been a QBs league. When the Vikings were going to the SBs, they were doing so with Fran Tarkenton, a HOF QB. Staubach and Bradshaw led the Cowboys and Steelers to multiple SB wins in the 70s. Joe Montana wasn't a game manager, hes a HOF QB. He won 3 SBs in the 80's. Troy Aikman won 3 SBs with the Cowboys in the 90's. When was this not a QBs league?

In that time, Bill Parcells won 2 SBs and took another team to the SB and took even another team to an AFCCG and yet another one to the playoffs. Hes taken teams to the playoffs in three different decades. How is that getting passed by?

And how are the FACTS supporting you again?
