Berman announced his decision after the sides failed to reach a settlement after several weeks of talks. Brady's suspension originally was upheld by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in July after an appeal. Brady, meanwhile, repeatedly had disputed the league's ruling that he and Patriots equipment staff colluded to deflate footballs before New England's 45-7 victory over Indianapolis in last season's AFC Championship Game."

Remember this was a hearing not about whether Brady and co cheated, but rather whether the NFL process and suspension etc. followed the rules.
We are going to learn a lot more about Kraft, Brady, Goodell and Berman in the future. I have a strong feeling there is a lot more to this behind the scenes than we know right now. I bet Goodell wont even bother to appeal.
Exactly what I think! When we beat their *** this year I don't want to hear any excuses. Yes I know we don't play them til after any suspension would have taken place. I am talking about the division title!
Booger eaters across the country can finally put their pitchforks away. Goodell needs to learn to stay in his lane. I'm so glad this circus act is finally over - it was an embarrassment to the NFL.
The ruling is you cant suspend a guy four games for conduct detrimental, they never warned Brady he could be suspended for not cooperating with the case. If Ted Wells and the NFL had warned Brady, this ruling may have been different. It has nothing to do whether Brady cheated or not, and more so with incompetence by Wells and the NFL. The judge didnt care if Brady did cheat or not, he didnt care for that evidence and paid little attention to it. What he looked at was how the suspension was handed and whether the NFL had the power to suspend a guy four games for conduct detrimental. If in the end what we get is Goodell losing his powers, then this is good for the rest of the league.
right, and FinD should be ecstatic as this was a victory for the players unions protecting the rights of the players against unfair and erroneous punishment.

If the shoe were on the other foot, THIS fan would disown the Dolphins after the first time the got nailed for cheating, until the parties were no longer affiliated with the organization. Brady did it, they've done several things over the years and been caught. How in ANY realm can anybody give them the benefit of ANY doubt? I can't stand Goodell and think he should be removed, he's a bumbling moron half the time. However, he had the right to suspend those 4 games based on the CBA. Does this ruling, pending appeal, nullify the CBA? The NFL will win the appeal.
He didn't have the right. There was no precedent. I'm sorry you don't understand this. People are b*tching about a process that has gone in in the NFL for a very long time. Then they want to hang Tom Brady over it because he's a Patriot. If you put aside your deranged fanaticism where you hate and want to fight all Patriot fans - you'd see this is more about protecting the players from Roger Goodell.
OK, so cheating is OK as long as it's been done a while...at least I know where you stand and I can summarily ignore whatever you say. Precedent or not, the clause in the CBA allows it, or do you not understand that? Don't bother...I already know the BS you're about to post....save it.
I don't wish any injuries on any player BUT if Brady were to receive a season ending injury within the first 4 games of the season I would not be able to stop laughing for weeks.

How is that good for the rest of the league? I want the NFL to hammer players that step out of line. No appeals. Just do what you're supposed to, or face the consequences. And I want it handled at the league level, not by the teams.
You are absolutely wrong. He has all the right in the world, the CBA, that the judge chose to ignore, gives Godell the right to set the punishment at whatever he deems necessary. That was collectively bargained, and agreed on by both parties. All the judge has done, is removed any power the CBA had. Which is stupid, because that was collectively agreed to by both parties. Since when do you need to forewarn someone... "hey now, if you cheat, and we catch you, we can punish you" WTF did they think it meant when the players, willingly signed over the authority to Godell to handle discipline?! Seriously, this is ridiculous. However that being said, its exactly what all parties wanted. Brady gets off scott free, again. Kraft gets his boy toy back on the field and it goes away after he so graciously accepted the $1m fine and loss of picks... We all knew that was in exchange for something... Godell can go back to the owners and go, hey guys, I suspended him. The judge overturned it. Everyone's happy, and behind the scenes, likely Kraft and Godell are celebrating with wine, scotch and cigars.
In the long run, today's ruling is a good thing. Goodell having an axe to grind with the Patriots will make him and the league more likely to catch them doing worse things. They aren't just going to stop cheating. They have to in order to win.
