Miami Herald - Adam Beasley - Jay Ajayi cracks a rib, complicating the Dolphins' plans as they begins cuts.

"Jay Ajayi told reporters late Thursday that he's not "overly concerned" about the chest injury that prematurely ended the best game of his rookie preseason.
Either Ajayi was putting on a brave face or has an incredible tolerance for pain.
Ajayi cracked a rib during the Dolphins' 22-17 loss to Tampa Bay Thursday -- yet another setback in a summer that hasn't gone according to plan."

Ahem....."clears throat".....FRED JACKSON is available. I'm a next man up kind of guy, but we could add Jackson and he could give us exactly what Jay was going to do. I hate that he has a broken rib, they hurt like hell....You can run and move around with them, but it's those sudden turns and movements that send pain shooting throughout your whole body. No way he can play football with that unless he's just got an incredible tolerance for pain. Sign Fred Jackson.

I fear for the man's life with the way he runs. I literally cringe when he's being tackled bc he seems to be always be in awkward or vulnerable positions, displaying no regard for his own safety.

How long do they think he will be out? Any word yet?
He looked as billed last night. Great running the ball and catching passes.

He is a strong runner and doesn't shy away from contact. I liked the way he ran the ball, no dancing around - 1 cut and through the hole behind his pads.

There will be backs available after teams trim to 53. There always are. Hell, one of Tampa's decent backs will probably be cut.

Last I checked he was visiting rather than about to sign. We could use him more than them, And we can't be as tight from a cap perspective based on how their locking up their core guys. Would love to have Fred on the team, and with Ajayi out we could REALLY use him.

I don't think anyone wants to cut him, rather we want to know when he will be back.

i think that IR talk with a cracked rib is laughable, there must be more to get a player on IR, Cam Newton played with one, Tony Romo played with one, he will get 5-8 carries probably 10 touches a game when the season unfolds, a shot and flak jacket should do the trick

Wrap that area up real tight and he'll be ready to go when they need him.

Yeah that shouldn't be enough to put a guy on IR, but he will need a little time to heal. A flak jacket would be a must.

I wouldn't be worried about him being on IR for the first 6 weeks, he's not a critical part of the offense, in fact due to his inconsistent pass pro he was probably not going to see the field much at all, unless there is an injury to Miller or Williams.

He looks like he can be good, just let him get healed up, we got it covered.

Finster, the voice of reason! I agree let him go IR for a bit.
