Who said we are ? And well we are an even matchup. Yea go u have a DL but we added knighton and paea who ranked pretty high last year *** interior pass rushers..not to mention we have Kerrigan.

We both have a good WR core
We both have a good DL
We both have a decent LB core
    We both have shaky safties

Id say your D proven while ours isnt but we also have the kikely bettet RB tandem.

O and your qb better than ours.

I always considered myself a realist. I voice my concerns, my dislikes, my hopes. This is the first time since the start of Sparano's second season, that I have legitimate hopes to not just make the play-offs, but to be a very solid team. And a complete and fun team.

We have some depth issues(which could catch up to us down the road during the season), and some young guys we need to step up, which good be the difference between good and great. Hoping Philbin turns a corner and does something ala Tom Coughlin. Because we have a real QB and a great O-coordinator. I believe in those guys completely. I feel that we have too much talent throughout our team and organization to not be at the very least, "good."

I see harmony on our sidelines and read about it through the beat guys, and that is very important. Been a long time since I felt this way.

All that being said, we are going to f'n murder the skins. That is one of the most toxic and weak teams in the NFL. Our D is going to positively destroy them. And our offense should roll. To the Redskins this week, yes, we will be the 85' Bears. My only concern is how Philbin manages a rather large lead, and will he let us hit the throttle.

Lol toxic you really wanna go there ? You dolphin fans are surprising me with some responses .

Philibin an underachieving coach and we all know this..he's just an OC nothing more nothing less and got rid of Vonte Davis. You guys will be 8-8 while my team goes 6'-10 and we both will find a new HC.

    Edit: skins go 5-10 .

But I doubt you guys blow us out just dont see how you are a realistic person by stating this. Haha

Cousins getz worst every quarter. I mean jay gruden the type.of HC that would have a back up QB throw 35-50 times a game against elite pass defenses...

We both have a good WR core --> Most Dolphins fans believe WR is a major strength on our team. You have probably heard of Jarvis Landry and Greg Jennings. This offseason we traded for Kenny Stills from the Saints and drafted DeVante Parker out of Louisville with our first round pick. We also have other up and coming WRs in Rishard Matthews and Matt Hazel. We have a lot of faith in these guys and think they can be a top WR corps in the league, but since our guys are mostly young as opposed to some of the proven ones on your team, I give you the benefit of doubt, for now.

We both have a good DL--> You may have a good DL (as in above average) but we might have the BEST DL in the league, certainly top 5.

We both have a decent LB core--> Our LB core is pretty average, but is very poor in depth. Probably the weakest unit on the team this season, along with our OL.

We both have shaky safties--> Reshad Jones might be the most underrated safety in the league. This year, now that he has a better supporting cast, he might make the Pro Bowl. Our other projected starting safety, Louis Delmas, is out for the season, but the backups Michael Thomas and Walt Aikens seem to have taken huge strides this offseason. Jury's still out on them, but they have been pretty solid (mostly Aikens who will be the starting FS) throughout camp and preseason.

RB tandem, I agree, you guys have a good group. We have Lamar Miller who had over 1000 yards rushing last season (I personally think he'll be better this season), but behind him, not much.

As for the QB, most Dolphins fans will tell you that Tannehill is the guy we've been looking for all these years after Marino... we finally found him!

He hasn't been spectacular yet, but the one thing he has done is improve on his weaknesses every single year since he came in the league. He's a guy with great character and work ethic, one of the hardest workers on the team, by all accounts.

Tannehill seems to have improved yet again this offseason from what we've seen in preseason and training camp, and is getting to the point where he is rarely making mistakes. As with most teams, there are some minor disagreements in our fanbase with regards to Tannehill but the one thing we can all agree on is that, right now, he is a very efficient QB who rarely makes bad decisions. Some will label him a "game-manager". I personally think he has already proven to be a notch above that and can actually win us a few games on his own. This season, I think he takes the NFL by storm and shows that he's an upper-echelon QB.

Right now, the skins have a toxic and troubled organization. Gruden is hamstrung by the meddlesome owner. RG3 is not allowed to be dealt away. There is a shroud of mystery, animosity, and turmoil, that is just the reality of their current situation. It's nothing Miami has not been through. Miami just happens to be, as a franchise, in a state of harmony right now.

If we played in December, I could call this a bit of a crap shoot. But a completely healthy and devastating front 7, well conditioned and All-Pro at some positions... it's going to be a rough day. Atlanta had to pull Matt Ryan out of the game several series early, because he was getting killed. And that offense is far superior to Washington's. What's more, I have never seen our offense play this well in pre-season. Under Philbin, with Tannehill, it is usually a dull and ineffective offense in August. And we were missing two LT's and our #1 pick at WR.

And up til now, yeah I can't stand Philbin. Hate the way he let this team fold like a deck of cards the past few seasons down the stretch. Shows me a lack of heart and guts, which is despicable in the football world. So while I have hope he turned the corner as a head coach, I know we have too much talent to not win 9-10 games this season if key players stay healthy. And healthy week one(not counting FS Delmas), the scoreboard may not be flashy, but it is going to be a pounding.

Our starting defense played so well in preseason that I have no idea what's going to happen. Nobody ran on us at all. Nobody threw all that well either. Earl mitchell looked like a ****ing all star against the falcons. And he's the supposed to be weakest link. Idk man...**** feels different this year

I know it makes for fun conversation but in 16 years in the investment world, I've learned one thing about the media. They want to sell advertising. It's their job to get a fanbase excited with optimism or rage from disrespect. None of this will matter when the first whistle is blown.

To add what others have said, we have some reasons for optimism that the rest of the experts may not be seeing. This is one of the most talented teams Miami has fielded. We appear to be relatively healthy. RTH is in his 4th year and many are excited that he may take the next step which would get us over the hump.

Either way, I'm just excited that I get to watch them again. Hopefully the ending is a little better than last year.

As for the whole cockiness that you are seeing from us Dolphins fans, simply put, we match up well against your team.

You have a good RB corps? Well, we have just the defense to contain them. We expect to be one of the better run defenses in the league this season. I do expect your RBs to make their share of plays, because they are truely dynamic, but I think we manage to contain them most of the time. One thing I am worried about is that while the middle of our DL will be very tough to run on, we may be susceptible to runs on the outside.

You have a good WR corps? That's okay... while our DL is the strength of our defense, our secondary isn't anything to scoff at either. I talked about the safeties in my previous post. You may have heard of Brent Grimes, our Pro Bowl cornerback, manning one of the spots. Besides him, I do admit it MAY be an area for concern but I think we'll get good play out of Jamar Taylor, our 3rd year CB who has been plagued by injuries but seems to be showing improvement. We also have some good depth behind those two.

You have a QB who is prone to making bad decisions? Well, with our DL to keep him under constant pressure and a stingy, opportunistic secondary, I think we'll have a good chance of exposing this.

You have a good (not great) defensive line? You got me there. Our OL came into the preseason as one of the weakest units on the team and, while they have done an okay job in preseason, still didn't prove much yet. One thing we got going for us is that Branden Albert, our Pro Bowl LT is coming back from an ACL tear last season and might play in this game, which would be huge.

If your DL can bottle up our running game and pressure Tannehill with only 4 pass rushers, we will have a hard time. But for your sake, you better hope that will happen. If you give Tannehill time, he will stand tall in the pocket and pick apart your weak secondary, we don't call him The Surgeon for nothing. Which leads me to...

You have a shaky secondary? Like I just said, Tannehill has been deadly accurate as of late and, if given time, he will find the open man and get him the ball. Our WR and TE corps is also pretty good and well-rounded which makes it easy to expose your defensive weakness.

Anyway, this is all coming from someone who knows a lot more about the Dolphins than the Redskins. If you think I am off on something or think there's an important factor I might have missed, feel free to chime in as well. :wink2:

It would be nice if we could swing a deal for Alfred Morris....Miller & Morris..the M & M's....then we would have that power to go with Miller who is just looking phenomenal at this point.

Personally, I don't have any problem with the Skins taking us lightly. This is the time of year when fans should be optimistic. That being said, I think they're wrong. I think they're in for a very difficult year and that Miami is a far better team. Now this the NFL so talent spreads aren't huge and any given Sunday..., but I expect this to be one of Miami's easier games this year. I see the Skins and Cousins as mistake prone and I expect our DL and secondary to be mistake inducing this season. That's a scary combination for the Skins. I also see Tannehill as pretty safe QB. He had only 12 ints last year and he looks like he's made another step in his development this off-season and pre-season. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a season reminiscent of the year Foles had with Philly a couple years back where he had some ridiculously low number of interceptions. Obviously, things could derail us. I'm anxiously awaiting news on Brandon Albert. I think we're a far better team with him in the line-up. With our OL intact our run game should produce and Tannehill can primarily keep it short and safe. When Tannehill can do that he is one of the best in the league. Last year when the OL and run game were intact and the D was playing great, Tannehill was easily producing top 5 numbers. And Tannehill looks better now. If those other elements are also working then I feel confident Tannehill will produce similarly or better.

Cousins won't make it out of this game alive. I'm thinking about benching A. Morris in my league this week. Our Defense will feast all day long this early in the season with no wear or tear.

I am waiting to see how we do in the first four games, but this is the first team in more than 20 years that has a legitimate chance to be top 5 in both defense and offense. It will not predict that level of achievement, but you will be surprised if you believe you are going to see the same team you saw last season.

On paper we are vastly superior and I expect a win.

Honestly, I don't care what the score is as long as ours is higher than theirs. It wouldn't surprise me if we aren't firing on cylinders in Game 1. There's a lot of new components in this engine and they may need a game or two to seat properly.

If we were both firing on all cylinders, this would be a destruction.

The thing is, this isn't about our over confidence. Out of our first two games, I am significantly more concerned about Jacksonville. Bortles looks to have made some improvements, and that is a nasty D. This is more about the Redskins being one of the weakest teams in the league, while currently suffering the greatest turmoil and distractions. The bloated ego of everything that is the NFC East does not allow for any fan base in that division to accept a less than stellar outlook though.

It's pretty crazy how people forget Suh's dominance, and I don't mean just these Redskins writers/fans. I remember last season playing against Detroit a lot of people (myself included) acknowledged how good he was, but didn't really expect the guy to have as much of an impact in the game as he did.

I am a Redskins fan on the board you mentioned. Most of them are predicting a Dolphins win. Not sure what you are expecting? I've visited other fan boards, its very rare to get 100% agreement especially in a game prediction and especially against your own team in week 1. But don't worry there is plenty of pessimism about the game, not so much because of being awed by the Dolphins but because of all the craziness going on in the last 3 weeks or so.

I live in South Florida. i know the Dolphins pretty well though I am sure not as much as you guys. Hopefully, you guys can overtake the Patriots finally. As for the Redskins I think some of you are underestimating the talent. It's not a loaded roster but its not in my opinion bottom barrel as some here purport. The running game should be good, the skilled positions are good. The D line is good. LBs are good. The weaknesses are you got a young O line, the secondary stinks, and Cousins is up and down. I think Wake's first step can eat up Moses at RT. The safeties stink in coverage and Tannehill who at least when I watch him likes to throw dig-crossing routes up the middle should do well with Jordan Cameron against the Redskins safeties. Cousins for his faults gets rid of the ball fast so the pass rush might not be as overwhelming as some think but he throws picks under pressure so you can get him that way. Special teams is also bad so Landry could have a good game.

Anyway good luck for the season. Cheers!

I think we were more surprised that you guys aren't giving us much credit... not really surprised that a few fans are predicting a win. Basically what it seems is that some of you are prediciting a Redskins loss because you have no faith in your own team and not because you think the Dolphins are good.

A few over there are prediciting a very high scoring game and, to most Dolphin fans, it would be disappointing if we gave up over 30 points in any game this whole season against any team. As you can tell, we have a lot of faith in our defense this year.

But hey, I understand the early season optimism, we all have it. And I also get that we haven't particularly done anything to warrant respect from other teams yet, so it would be silly to expect it.

I don't think the Redskins are as bad as a lot of people are making them out to be... you guys will surprise a few teams this season, especially if Kirk Cousins can get a little more consistent. I just hope the Dolphins won't be one of those teams.

Good luck to you too, starting week 2!

sounds good, thanks. In light of today's stories, many people including myself hate the Patriots even more than in the past. So I really do hope the Dolphins take that next step. I watched a bunch of Tannehill in college, heck I even went to training camp one day for the Dolphins and took a close look. If he can get his deep ball down he could be dangerous and also if he improves in the 4th quarter in those key spots with the game on the line. The Redskins are really a hard read, wouldn't shock me if they have a terrible season likewise they potentially could be an 8-8 type team, really all depends on Cousins. Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcons are good. Jordan Reed is good. Even the third receiver whether its Roberts or Crowder are good. Alfred Morris and Matt Jones look like a good running back tandem. The O line isn't bad, the LT is among the leagues best. If Cousins ends up a good QB, he could be dangerous because he has the weapons. Is he good, though? You got me. He can be very good in some games and awful in others granted so far in a small sample of games.

The Redskins defense is good at stopping the run, and the pass rush should be decent. My game plan to beat the Redskins would probably be to throw deep and often and having Cameron-Landry work the middle. The slot CB is out (Breeland) so I'd try to exploit that. I'd gang up on the pass rush on the right side of the line. Scherff and Moses have the potential to be good but generally young O lineman struggle early.

As for the Dolphins getting respect -- my sense is this isn't the first time they received preseason hype (that ultimately wasn't lived up to) so I think they are going to have to earn the respect that the perennial winners like the Ravens, etc get. But seeing Suh and Wake play together should be fun to watch. And considering Wake's age, they need to strike now in my opinion.

Agreed, you have a pretty good core of weapons in the offense, remains to be seen if Cousins can unleash its full potential.

As for this game, I addressed some of the reasons why I think we match up well with the Redskins in the first post of this page. I think your offense needs to be predicated on the run game and play-action for it to be successful, and I do think it can work on a lot of teams, but I just don't think it'll work on us.

It looks like we'll have a pretty formidable DL, both defending the run and rushing the passer. I'm pretty confident we'll manage to bottle up your pair of RB's most of the time. I won't say all of the time because Morris and Jones will be a handful and they will make their share of plays.

I don't think Cousins will have a lot of time to pass... it won't be as much of a problem for him as far as sacks go because he can get the ball out of his hands pretty quickly, but it will hinder your offense because there won't be time for the big play to develop.

So, IMO, we will take away precisely what makes you dangerous, running the ball and making the occasional big play. I think a quick, short passing offense with some no-huddle sprinkled in may be the type of offense that'll hurt us this season, though I wouldn't trust Cousins to dink and dunk the whole game... the more passes he throws the more likely he is to throw an interception.

Our offense versus your defense will come down to whether or not you get pressure on Tannehill with only 4 pass rushers because if not, he will dink and dunk your secondary to death. :chuckle:

Hey, he might unleash a couple deep passes on you guys also, he's been working on it in the offseason and looks to have improved. Honestly, the whole deep passing thing is a little overblown with Tannehill, he had a specific problem throwing to Mike Wallace, but most chalk it up to bad chemistry... now that he has some other guys in there who he feels more comfortable with we might see some improvement in that area of his game, guess we'll see this season.

Dude the phins haven't done squat since 2008 lol and he's pretty much right.

    Both have:

    Crappy OL
    Good DL
    Decent LBs
    Poor CBs overall
    Pretty alright RB core
    Good WR core
    TE basically up and down

Only three thing if not four things I can say you have heads and toe better are.

    QB
    OC
    DC
    SS

Other than that it is a good match up.
