I like Jamil Douglas and thought he played well for a rook. I really like the way he gets down field. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Miami actually run a successful screen play. He did good on that play. I like when we drafted him and thought he would win the starting spot. He had a decent start, but he really showed his potential.

yeah its ridiculous how fast the dolphins abandon the run. another thing is the dolphins need more attempts in that 10-15 yard range and the tempo of the offense needs to be quicker. tannehill and the offense operate 10x better when there is some urgency and tannehill is able to fire the ball out to those intermediate routes.

I know this is a coulda, woulda, shoulda response but Tannehill missed 3 passes that he is usually money on that would have raised the YPA to over 8.

    1. The Sims pass that should have been a TD while rolling to his left.
    2. The pass to Stills on the sideline while rolling to his right.
    3. The pass over the middle to Landry that was too high.

Normally Tannehill excels in those situations, throwing on the run and passes over the middle. Those 3 passes would have added at least 60 yards onto the total.

Taking into account that I think Tannehill played poorly yesterday, I'm not too concerned with his YPA. I definitely expect that to improve over the season.

This. Must have more throws in that range. Thill seems to be pretty good at them anyway. Roll him out in the pocket some, get his feet moving. We have perform well in a two minute offense so we definately need to pick the pace up.

Sure, that would be nice, but you don't just run the ball regardless of the defense you're facing or regardless of the down and distance. Simply being committed to the run doesn't mean you will run and pick up first downs.

Said this in another thread but I think at least part of it (maybe a lot of it) is due to a lack in confidence in the defense and the passing offense. It's tough to just give it to Miller 3 times and see what happens when you're not confident the defense won't let the other team do the same and get gashed. It's also tough when you're not confident that the offense can convert 3rd and long. Miller was remarkably consistent last year. But even then you're going to be in 3rd and more than 5 yard situations. And neither Tannehill nor the offense line has proven they can handle moving the ball more than 5 yards with any kind of consistency. So the safest play is for them to let Tannehill dink and dunk, hoping we get a few lucky breaks. Then maybe if we get a lead they would feel more comfortable running the ball more.
