Tanny is what we've been asking for, for over a decade; a young, intelligent, talented guy with no off-field problems, can stay healthy and who doesn't drive the offense into ruin with reckless plays/throws.

Agree.. he had one horrendous miss in the 1st half, but otherwise he's been playing really well this game. I have no doubt we'll win this game (saying this down 7 at the half), and Tannehill will be a major reason why.

EDIT: Well.. obviously I was totally wrong about the team winning. At least Tannehill played well.

30/44 for 359 yards and two TDs....He did his job as far as I'm concerned. It's not his fault we can't run the ball, and it isn't his fault we have an overrated defense who gives up big plays.

Defence only gave up 3 pts in 2nd half.
He had every opportunity to bring us back to win game against a bad team.
Stats mean ****.2 games he has lead us to 15 pt average and that's not franchise stats.
He needs to get ball in damm endzone.

I'm sure with our O-line and our WRs coming up with 2-3 HUGE drops today, you yourself would just be hitting that endzone non stop, huh?

Sorry but he needs to improve touch passes.
Going back to to preseason all his touchdown passes are within the 10 yd line.
When an easy td presents itself you need to hit it.But the touch is lacking and has to be fixed Especialy when we play better teams

Stat guys who praise RT are entertaining. Try actually watching the games and determine WHEN PLAYS ARE MADE and WHEN THEY ARE NOT. Very telling.

Tannehill doesn't throw with touch, doesn't challenge defenders downfield and seems to disappear for long stretches. He's a game manager.

I still think he's a franchise QB on the rise. He had some solid play and great throws out there today. He evaded pressure several times, when that pressure was slower than 1 second to contact!

However...he had 2 throws that really pissed me off today...one of which was a reception!

    1. Missed a WIDE OPEN Cameron for what should have been a very big gain if not a TD...just overthrew him somehow, only needed a little touch there and BAM!

    2. 7 yd completion to Landry with 40 seconds and no timeouts, in the MIDDLE OF THE FIELD?!?!?!................................................WTF RYAN!?!?!?!?! You HAVE to know better than that...I mean, it's basics, you DON'T HAVE TIMEOUTS! Lazor (and no I'm not giving him a pass either) better be up his *** sideways about that...that is just inexcusable in that situation. Two weeks in a row he's made a play to Landry like that...not good.

Still love him, still think he's the guy, and think he's still learning and growing. I've had him pegged as the slow/steady learner for a few years, but if he plateaus and keeps making THOSE types of plays (#2 above), then I don't know.

I did watch the game. You are telling me that of all of the aspects of the game today, including all of the stupid penalties, the lack of a running game, and the porous defense, that RT is the biggest problem?

he played ok, made mistakes, played some bad situational football when we were close to field goal range a couple times...had a horrendous oline in front of him., no run game at all, and a coordinator who doesnt get it.

Nah!I know football. The great qbs find a way and right now tannehill is not great.Tannehill is like alex smith and he needs a great team around him to win because he is a game manager. This coaching staff will not allow him to have a great team around him and he is not capable of carrying team on his back.I thought this would be the year but he looks like he has same weaknesses as last year.Very dissapointed in him and entire team.

I'm watching Rodgers throw short pass after short pass right now, all the way down the field. Now, I KNOW he can throw deep, but the Seahawks are rushing 3 guys right now...THREE GUYS, and dropping 8 into coverage, so Rodgers is throwing short. This is what Tannehill does, and gets blasted for. Difference is, GB doesn't give up any pressure when 3 guys are rushing.

rogers is moving around every time he drops, his mobility is uncanny, even on short throws, both qbs showing how using their legs heps their personal and teams performance..

But I'm not disagreeing with you on needing Tannehill to move more.

Rodgers also hits deep plays with regularity, which is why they're dropping 8, and since we have no Wallace, teams are dropping nothing and leaning on short routes, big differences there.

Who is "we?" That's not what I was asking for. I've been asking for a QB that knows how to and does win football games leading the Dolphins into the playoffs and beyond.

Tannehill's not so young anymore (27 years of age and this is his 50 NFL start) and he isn't all that "football intelligent."

QB talented? Eh, good athlete...would have probably made a better WR at this level.

Did you see the coverage (zone, no one trialing) and were the safety was? Tannehill hit the proper shoulder. If he leads him there he leads him into the safety. Rewatch the play. The ball went into the hole in the coverage with good timing.

Yea, I heard he was better than Wallace, better hands, larger catch radius, knows how to go up and get it, and did you see him on the sideline after Tanne's delay of game, clearly complaining to someone, and Landry coming off the field angry late in the game because Tanne never saw he was open.

Now we have 2 malcontents, lol.

Leaning on short routes? If that's what your saying then you weren't paying attention, and I said this offseason, it would lead to the Fins not being as successful in the run game, which is manifesting itself.

It's LBs and DLs that are shutting down our run game. What effect is it that you think Wallace would have on the defensive front seven? You think LBs are going to drop deeper on their zones becuase, Wallace? Or that DL is going to rush differently? The place where missing Wallace's speed would show is intermediate routes. We cannot run because we cannot run block. No push.

Did you guys see Russel Wilson last night against Green Bay? 206 yds, 2 Tds, 1 int and 78 yds rushing. They only scored 17 points... He must not be a franchise QB.

Meanwhile, Tannehill was the first QB to throw for 300 yds vs Jax in 13 games. He was 30/44, 359 yds, 2 tds, sacked twice... And he was our LEADING RUSHER with 17 yds.

You guys are ridiculous. Tannehill is not even CLOSE to being the problem. "Tannehill only threw 2 tds..." You say. What does 2 tds a game average out to be over a season? What's that? 34 TDS?! Those are scrub numbers. Obviously we should go back to Beck, Lemon, Feely, Henne, etc.

I really think many here, and in the other Tannehill thread, really underestimate the importance of an offensive line, for an offense. You can't run without one. You can't pass without one. There's numerous reasons for each point, but without one, nothing works. That's where we are right now. We can't run well, because we cant run block well. That leads to us being pass heavy. Having no running game, doesn't help open up the passing game, but we're forced to pass. So, now here we are, being forced into passing, which plays into the D's hands, because they know we can't go deep, not because we don't have talented enough QB, or WR's, but because we don't have an OL that can provide good enough protection for the QB.

I suspect a lot of the plays Tannehill is leaving on the field to "open" receivers downfield are a direct result of him constantly having to take his eyes off his options downfield as he checks on the protection he's getting since he knows it's not going to be good enough with this OL.

This isn't making excuses for one thing or another, it's just a simple fact really. You just aren't going to have an effective offense, with a bad OL. Too much hinges on the success of the OL, which is the unit we chose to basically ignore in the offseason, even though we knew it would be a weak spot yet again.

Tannehill had an 8.2 YPA this game, huge improvement. Let's hope he keeps this up the remainder of the season. If he continues to play like this and the running game improves to at least average, we're making the playoffs.

When Wallace is on the field, there is no 8 in the box, which we saw a ton of yesterday, and the entire side of the field that he's on is on their heels, with the DBs backed up, watch an all 22 of Wallace, and watch how the D reacts to him.
