This question was asked of 35 league insiders this year...8 personnel directors, 6 GMs, 4 Head Coaches, 5 Offensive Coordinators, 5 Defensive Coordinators, 3 Salary-cap managers, 1 ex-GM, 2 ex-Head Coaches, 1 offensive assistant coach

30 put Tannehill in Tier 3 and 5 put him in Tier 2.

russell wilson has forgotten how to win all of a sudden, he needs to drink more "will to win" juice.

Breed would have been on ir if he played behind the oline tanny has. Brees is only effective when he gets protection. Tanny put up 20 with zero protection today. He's tier 2. If this idiotic franchise ever gets him an online you'll see him rip up the league

I agree, he shouldn't be the main topic of blame convo..he moved around the pocket a bit better than ive seen recently..like to see him be more assertive when he does, like to see lazor use the skillset more than 2 and 1/2 runs a game..

They didn't even sack him until mid or late in the 3rd right? maybe I need to watch again but protection didn't seem to be a problem until later in the game.

Oh I don't know. How about getting them into field goal range after their last TD.

    How does he do that?

Oh I don't know. Hit Cameron for the long play when he was wide open and in field goal range if he makes the catch and maybe even a TD.

At the end of the day, we've scored 3 TDs in 2 games. That's not good enough.

He had pretty good protection until Albert left. Pretty sure Miami didn't come close to scoring after that which gives evidence he belongs in tier 3.

Must admit the WR (Matthews, Landry and Cameron) did an outstanding job of getting separation today, I don't recall him having to thread too many needles and made some nice catches to help him out...tipped ball to Matthews for 48 yards, turning around and making a one-handed grab by Landry on a 3rd down play.

Tannehill was sacked 2 times and hit 6 times = 20 points
Manning was sacked 3 times and hit 7 times = 31 points
Brady was sacked 2 times and hit 5 times = 40 points
Alex Smith was sacked 4 times and hit 7 times = 24 points
    Newton sacked 2 times hit 6 = 24 points
Winston sacked 3 times hit 4 times = 26 points
Taylor sacked 8 times hit 10 times = 32 points
Rivers sacked 4 times hit 7 times = 19 points
Ryan sacked 2 times hit 8 times = 24 points
Rodgers sacked 2 times hit 5 times = 27 points
Mariota sacked 7 times hit 11 times = 14 points (now that was a horrific OL performance today)

There is this idea that Tannehill plays behind the worst OL ever and every QB wouldn't be able to win if they had to deal with his adversity. That is just not true. Tannehill didn't have a superhuman effort. He faced what the majority of QBs face, defenses that apply pressure. Not saying Miami's is the best, but they certainly aren't the worst either. There are a lot of teams that would like to have Miami's skill players.

are you ****ing kidding me? this was the first half. tanny avoiding potential sacks throwing to damian williams for a td. during one stretch i counted him avoiding three sacks in a row i think, maybe one play in between where he got protection. there is only so much you can do and that goes for any qb in the league. at this point the poor pocket presence argument is a joke. anyone still making that argument is stuck in 2013

how many sacks did tannehill avoid today and if you cant answqer that your stats are useless. by my count he avoided at least 6 sacks today. i doubt thats the case with most on your list. anyone that thinks tannehill isnt playing with a chain around his neck by playing in front of our offensive line is clueless. there really is nothing more to say. i will hold out hope that by week five our oline will jell but if doesnt i guarantee they will finish 25th or below in pass protection. mariotta is the only qb on that list that could sympathesize

Wasn't that the play were Cameron hurt his groin? I thought Tannehill was on the money with the throw, Cameron visibly slowed. I don't remember seeing him on the field after.

I think I have a pretty good idea of what these armchairgm's/captainhindsight's wanted:

He should have prevented Aikens, Taylor, etc. from allowing big plays
He should have blocked the man infront of him for more than half a second
He should have got a single sack against one of the worst o-lines in the league
He should have made the field goal to end the 1st half
He should have stopped the opposite kicker from making a longer field goal

    Stuff like that.

When one of the best games of your career is a 108 rating, that raises questions.

He definitely shouldn't be a scapegoat, and he is playing well, but the reality is that he hasn't shown he is capable of elevating a struggling team. It is what it is.

I'm with you there. I don't think he's capable of elevating a struggling team, but I think the team (including the coaches) has to go look itself in the mirror and figure out why it can't stop the run and why it isn't running a more balanced offense. It also has to develop a pass rush, and quickly.

If you can't stop the run and you don't have a pass rush, you essentially don't have a defense. Wait till this team plays a team with a very good offense and gets 40+ points scored on it with that sort of functioning. And the lack of balance on offense contributes to that sort of defensive functioning, because other teams' offenses are on the field entirely too much.

We can run the ball from a spread offense, but the RB's are just not given a chance to run.

I would realistically have him in the lower Teir 2/top of teir 3.

I might get a lot of flack for saying this but I think Tannehill is better than Both Flacco and Wilson

Brady and Rodgers are the only Elite QB's left right now
Brees and Manning are honorable tier 2 basde on history but this year they both are looking bad

if I were to rate the qb's right now(top 15

    Tier 1
    Rodgers
    Brady

    Tier 2
    Big Ben
    Rivers
    Romo
    Ryan
    (brees)/(manning)

    Tier 3
    Palmer
    Tannehill
    Wilson
    Dalton
    Flacco

we would've gotten blown out if it wasn't for tannehill. Tannehill and the receivers are the only reason that gm was even competitive. If it wasn't for them making a 58 yd fg and us missing a fg we win that gm. I don't know how you can say he didn't elevate the team. He was given **** to work with and he still managed 20 points somehow

    10. I believe we scored a TD midway through the 3rd. Those were our last points though.

I'm not impressed with Luck so far tonight. Already one pick, overthrew a receiver, and missed Hilton on a fade on 3rd down.

    What a scrub.
