Fire philbin and coyle tomorrow. Promote lazor to interim head coach and hire jim schwartz as dc. that would give us the best chance to win the rest of the season.

How would hiring a completely new DC midseason, and installing a new system midseason really help give us a chance to win?

That's something that should have happened in the offseason. We're stuck with what we have for now.

I've just about lost all faith in Lazor too. Pretty close anyways.

What exactly has Bill Lazor done to be considered adequate head coaching material?

Nothing, but he's familiar with the players, it can be used as a prove yourself year with him having full authority, and after the year it doesn't need to work out, he can be replaced unless he has proven himself. You're not going to find any good HC now who'll sign on for a partial year only.

Takes alot longer than a week to completely overhaul a system.. If you were replacing Coyle, with an assistant already on staff, they'll just modify things slightly. A Guys like Schwartz is going to have a whole new system. Its just not practical.

just give me a coach that is smart enough to not have your corners play 10 yards off a guy on 3rd and 3.

to be honest i dont think its Joe's fault... let me make this clear, i wanted fisher no joe....

now, dallas thomas is awful, but who is joe going to run out there...albert is hurt and thats jes unfortunate..

this off season the team had 3 issues, mike wallace, the o line, and linebackers...

the rest of the team was serviceable, sure add a few new corners to compete for the job...

but 3 issues that needed to be solved..

we did not solve one of these issues, we hired some names that would fill the stands with fans.....

i dont like philbin because i always felt he was in over his head and should stick to mentoring qb's....

so imagine a coach who is in over his head and a gm that underminds him at every turn....

we see it all the time in the nfl when a new gm comes in, he wants to hire his guy...

i think Joe has no choice but to fail... no help protecting his qb, no one to tackle..

notice my signature from the great Vince Lombardi....

when your team looks like they dont want to play, and are consistently unprepared thats a serious indictment on the coach. philbin is incapable of motivating a gorup of guys to overachieve

Lazor is as bad at his job as Philbin is at his. Unfortunately the Dolphins don't have a single assistant coach capable of being the interim HC. It is best to just let the season play itself out and let the Dolphins just get the top 5 pick in the draft it appears they will surely earn with play like today.

The new head coach can start with a clean slate next year and hopefully with a far better coaching staff than the inept group we have right now.

Clean house. Cut all the staff. Cut all the players. Cut the people who cut the grass. Cut the vendors. After you cut every one then rehire them back.

Schwartz? Really? The guy was an awful head coach. Sure he performed well in Buffalo, but I could coach that defense to be top 10. His defensive plan is generate pressure with your front four (Bills were one of the lowest blitzing teams last year). Given how they've looked...that would be a disaster.

That's one silver lining. Up until recently, many thought Lazor was a potential HC candidate. I think now we know otherwise.

No interest in Schwartz. He would likely be first in line for the HC job and that would be a disaster - the guy is a mess.

He can probably coach a good defense (though the raw talent in Buffalo surely didn't hurt), but I want no part of a dysfunctional coach (that is what he is) for this dysfunctional franchise.

Ive said it before and I will say it again. This is actually the best case scenario for long term success. Just get rid of these coaches. And if you're not making the playoffs might as well get a really good pick.

The only way you can make the case that Lazor can be better than Philbin is if you cede that Lazor hasn't had full latitude of offensive game-planning and play-calling and you read into the minor tiff last season about who'd be the starter going into the Oakland game. Otherwise, I don't see how you can have any confidence in his ability to be above replacement level in that job. He's a poor play-caller at this point and usually guys put out some good work in their unit before being promoted a la Todd Bowles, John Harbaugh, and Rex Ryan among others. Lazor hasn't been much of a bright spot. I think the biggest indictment on him is his situational work. Our calls don't ever change. 1st and 10? 3 yard crosser, bubble screen, 5 yard comeback. 3rd and 10? 3 yard crosser, bubble screen, 5 yard comeback.

This team is still mired in the stench of Sparano's "execution" mindset. Sparano failed in part because he felt that regardless of the circumstances, if a play is executed properly, it will always work. We have an inability to exploit the opponent and Lazor is part of that problem.

Simple, by being hired by Ross. That's probably what has saved him all these years. Most if not all owners are too proud to admit they got it wrong and Ross is very loyal so that makes it even worst.

I dunno if I agree that Philbin should of been fired after the bully scandal, but he should be fired now. That whole thing was a joke in my opinion anyway PLUS we lost good o-line players and sucked ever since. We could of used R.Incognito now. It just doesnt make sense to me with all these new additions to o-line, draft picks and we still suck. No running game, and I dont think Lazor is a good fit either. This offense, with so many good receivers should be throwing the ball like crazy instead not only we cant run, we dont have a good passing offense either. I dunno if its Tannehill or Lazor, but we def need coaching changes. Philbin said he's not gonna panic or change the philosophy but maybe you should since whatever ur doin isnt working! But if we get rid of Philbin/Lazor, who can we hire to coach the Dolphins??
