I was furious when we signed Tannenbaum. I know his history with the jets very well. He built the jets into a contender through free agency, not the draft....... He can mortgage your future for a sexy roster, constantly throwing money at veteran free agents. Not surprising.... He won a lot of people over in Miami by being the biggest spender in free agency.

I still support Tannenbaum/Hickey. For me the biggest problems are Philbin and Ross.

Clue might be his INSISTENCE on the Suh contract. Suh is represented by Tannenbaum's old employer. They got an enormous cut of that huge contract. Is it beyond belief that when & if Tannenbaum get's axed, he gets a nice kickback from that firm that was his former employer ?

    I don't think it's a stretch at all.......

The poll is currently 70-6. I have not voted for the record.

Let's take note of the overwhelming support for Tannenbaum. Let's recognize that virtually everyone is supporting him--despite the fact he's the head man and this team is currently playing as badly as it ever has in my lifetime.

I think a lot of people are still in denial with how bad this roster really is in places. The Dolphins will need 2 starting CBs as they rebuild. They will need a starting FS. They will need a starting MLB as well as a starting OLB. They currently have mortgaged the farm for a DT yet will likely need to replace Vernon in 2016 as he becomes a FA and they have no answer for Wake's eventual departure as he declines either.

The defense has 3 players it can build around: SS Reshad Jones, OLB Jelani Jenkins and DT Ndamukong Suh. Those are good players, but the entire structure around them is either on it's last legs or badly in need of help.

On the offensive side, the entire offensive line is questionable. James, a first rounder, has not lived up to his draft status. He looks average at best. Pouncey often looks outmatched as well these days yet he has a huge contract. The others (excluding Albert) are not worthy of starting and several may fall out of the league sooner rather than later (Turner, Thomas, Fox, etc.).

I'm not saying this team is as bad as it was in 2007 when it had virtually no talent on the roster. For one, it has a QB. That's a huge difference. Being able to build around Suh and Jones on defense will help. Having all the WRs this team does will also help.

BUT....some of you need to realize that Tannenbaum hasn't come close to fixing this team. He will first have to find a new HC. He will then have to build a majority of the roster from scratch with next to nothing to show for a shockingly large number of positions which once again includes: CB, FS, MLB, OLB, and OG. He may have to deal with replacing Vernon at DE as well as Lamar Miller at RB, both of which are FAs. I would also encourage the team to look at finding a suitable back-up and potential replacement for Albert who cannot stay healthy.

Guys...I know we want to feel like there's something to cling to, and there is: a solid young QB and a few other pieces scattered around this roster. I can name 10 guys who definitely need to be on this team going forward and that's more than I could in 2007.

But do not sit here and tell me that the guy who went out and spent a ton of money on big-name FAs while ignoring the plethora of holes in this roster has done anything yet.

This team is as bad as it is because no one has come in and fixed the glaring problems.

living in new york, i saw the same thing. thought the SUH signing was similar to what he did in NY. We'll see how this plays out. He hasnt mortgaged our future yet

this is my main gripe with the suh signing. how many holes could we have filled by not signing suh and instead spending that money on an LB, DB and OL

    True.

And to see how embarrassingly bad the O-line is and think back to how this team only invested a 4th round pick in fixing it is frustrating.

I'm not necessarily in love with spending 1st round picks to fill holes. Those sort of reactionary and knee-jerk fixes have failed this team over and over. JuWuan James is a perfect example of a guy whose production falls way short of first round status. When there's a clear hole, that doesn't mean you automatically know what your first round pick is going to be--most of the time that backfires as you reach for talent.

What you do is find veteran FAs who aren't great but who can play. I'd be happy to see the team select high picks based on BPA if it could just get some general competency where it's laughably bad.

It's certainly not that drafting DeVante Parker is a bad thing. It's that when you do that you MUST go sign a few legitimate gap-filling players. They picked up Greg Jennings and CJ Mosley for exactly that reason. But looking back those positions were strong.

Where they really needed to do that was with the O-line, the LB corp and the secondary. Surely they must've known that Brice McCain was a nickel/dime guy at best?! Kelvin Sheppard was the only veteran guy they brought in at LB. They didn't bring anyone decent in on the O-line. Knowing how bad Thomas and Turner were, they didn't even try!

What it comes down to is that this team gambled hard on a few bad players playing well (Jamar Taylor, Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner, Koa Misi, Walt Aikens, etc.) and a really lackluster effort in FA to fill out the roster. If you take away Suh, this offseason's FA moves were pretty lackadaisical.

Guys...ask yourself this...if the Suh signing wasn't there to distract you, would you have noticed that no position got better via FA?

And no, don't point to Stills and Jennings--who have done nothing. Stills is a poor man's Mike Wallace and Greg Jennings will be as useless as Hartline minus the occasional clutch catch. The WR position itself, which we're all so proud of, is only better because of Parker being draft.

With all the holes this roster had (and still has) not one veteran FA was acquired to bring a bit of stability where it was so badly needed: CB, LB, O-line, etc.

Well, it's easy to say that when Suh isn't close to playing up to standards we all expected. But I guess that's the danger of handing out massive contracts.

Don't tell me you all didn't expect to be pushing into the backfield almost as easily as we did in preseason. Just another reminder how preseason don't mean shat.

Everyone expected the DL to be the anchor of the team dominating OL's, instead the opposite happened, our DL gets dominated every game.

Said it then and I will say it now I don't see what he did special.

One could question several moves especially the Hodge Podge crap that is/was the Offensive line. Suh and the huge contract was a distraction along with the new stadium renovations.

One could even argue that the team last year is/was better then this one.

You prefer multiple above average players to one great player. It is difficult to argue with that perspective, but I prefer the one great player approach to building a team. I do not believe that three games are enough of a sample size to evaluate your statement.
