***by no means am I implying any of these moves would save our season, just want to see a better product in the field is all***

    1. Start Jamar taylor. McCain has been one of the worst CB2s I've ever seen. He's playing 14 yards off AND still getting beat deep. How can taylor be worse? Frankly Bowman and Lippett should be getting looks too. Play them all, see if someone surprises. We know McCain wont.

    2. Start Billy turner. Pretty much the same logic as CB2, how much worse can he be?

    3. Parker has earned the playing time. Stills hasn't gotten an opportunity really but Jennings has failed imo. Multiple drops already and yesterday his two drops set the tone of our offense. Parker seems to have hands of gold. I see no reason for jennings to ever be on the field over parker.

    4. Run the ball? This won't happen of course.

    5. Lose to the jets, and yes, fire philbin.

I rather start Lippett over Taylor. Taylor had his bad moment yesterday.

One move, and I would applaud Philbin for having balls the size of small moons, would be to sit the entire defensive side of the ball, except for maybe Jones, Jenkins, and Grimes. Start every one of the second stringers against the Jets. Send the message loud and clear that no matter your name, no matter your salary, no matter what you've done before in this league, if you want to play like a second stringer or practice squad player, then you can sit right on the bench and watch the game from there. I might even allow Suh to play, as I find it hard to find too much fault with him, after I saw him getting triple teamed yesterday.

Somehow persuade some other millionaire to buy the Dolphins from Ross and start a new era? Any recommendations?

These franchises have become so expensive that it is almost impossible now for a single person to buy a team. Dolphins would probably sell for 1.5-2billion. A group of investors would have to convince themselves that this is a product they can work with.

    We are stuck with Ross.

Kudos to Vertical Limit on the call to start Tony Lippett over Jamar Taylor or Brice McCain.

I don't understand the isolation of this McCain/Taylor thing because BOTH GUYS are the problem. The only difference between McCain's play and Taylor's play is he has a handful more pass snaps. They've both been awful. Part of the problem is that people aren't factoring in Jamar Taylor's three penalties, all of which were unnecessary, and all three of which came on third down keeping drives alive that otherwise would have ended in a punt. Two of the drives ended in points. That's on him.

Considering Bobby McCain's training during the preseason and training camp as a slot corner, I'd give a fair thought to the idea of starting him at the slot/nickel position and starting either Zack Bowman or Tony Lippett on the outside. I'd prefer Lippett because I think he has massive potential, but as he's also very early in his transition to the defensive side of the ball, I guess you are forced to defer to the coaching staff's assessment even if you don't trust that coaching staff.

But seriously this call on McCain and Taylor would make virtually no difference. Brice McCain has played 103 pass snaps. Jamar Taylor has played 75 pass snaps. This means that if their spots on the depth chart were reversed, you'd have a whopping total of 28 pass plays where Taylor was on the field instead of McCain. And is there ANY evidence whatsoever that this would have led to a significantly better outcome? No. Taylor allows 1.7 yards per pass snap, 75 percent of attempts in his direction are completed, has yet to deflect a single pass, and has accumulated three third down penalties in three games, all of which kept drives alive. Oh but I'm sure those 28 snaps going to him instead of Brice McCain would have gone so much better?

    No.

    Bench them both.

As for the receiver unit I have a feeling this is another instance of shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Listen, I genuinely LIKE these players. All of them. All five of them and I'll be damned if I can remember thinking that about any unit on the Dolphins in a long time. But one thing that is clearly happening right now is that the guys that have already played with Ryan Tannehill and have already established a connection with him in past years and past practices as well as past games, are rising to the top of the group in terms of overall efficiency and play.

Well, what'd you expect? You got rid of two full time starters at the position a year ago. Acclimation and chemistry are real things on a football field.

I watched the game yesterday. I saw the players play. I don't disagree with dialing down Greg Jennings' participation but I also don't see how it's going to help.

    1. Pull the plug on Brice McCain starting or even really playing at this point.

    2. Play the young guys. Call up Hull, get Lippet and Bobby McCain some looks.

    3. Start Jonas Gray over Lamar Miller and see if we can run with him. He seems hungry, and plays with a mean streak.

Those are the three things i'd like to see.

We have to see if any of these young guys are a hidden gem. I personally think Tony Lippet is the truth and should be playing. Mike Hull should get a look too.

I do agree that something needs to be done on the offensive line. I think they need to try Billy Turner.

I see this as a common theme in football, happens all over the place. Teams have a competition at a position, they make a judgment about who is winning that competition, that guy struggles, then they turn to the guy who lost the competition and find out wonder of wonders this guy plays better football.

It really calls into question the ability of the coaches to figure out who is the best man for the job.

It would shock me not at all if they toss in Turner and he turns out to be the best of the three guards. In fact I'd bank on it.

It's so sad that the people on this website have a better idea how to win then the coaching staff.

Philbin just seems set in his ways. Nevermind the Dion Jordan debacle, between him and Coyle they are both simple minded stubborn men. I've yet to see Coyle start a rookie on defense or even give one minor responsibility for that matter. Start Lippet and let the growing pains happen. Lets see what kind of competitors these young guys really are. I agree on Billy Turner as well. What's really holding him back from getting playing time? Is it lack of talent or is it this bronze aged coaching staff?

My main point was that a change is needed for sure. McCain is getting attacked. If nothing else we should play new faces just to give opposing qbs a different look. I feel like tyrod knew where 24 was at all times and went there whenever possible

Sorry bro, 1 sack and 74 pts against has really bummed me out. This defense has not done anything. No pressure, everyone's open. 3rd downs are terrifying.

Offensively I see some good stuff occasionlly. Defensively I'm seeing nothing.

I agree with everything but the Miller move...he's played with a chip on his shoulder all year and I still think he's a breakout superstar. But you can't have your RB hit in the backfield and expect positive results, and that's the #1 thing I need to see change this week- aggressive play at both sides of the line. They need to summon their inner "Incognito" and knock the dog crap out of somebody on every play...that's how you win football games. If that means starting Turner then I'm all for it...or even shifting Pouncey back to guard. Whatever it takes- control the trenches and you win the game.

100% agree on the run game. Glad to see Gray get some reps on Sunday. However I think the OL gets too much of the blame. Philbin refuses to roster a FB and w/o Sims there's no blocking TE available either. Starting the year w only two TEs and no full back? Has that ever happpened, anywhere?
