Im a Dolphin fan and I was shocked at how obvious it was that the Ref's were trying to help make it competitive

Tannehill needs to hit that open pass to Jennings.

The biggest issue is Lazor's playbook and his tendency to call bad passing plays. He calls too many screens and short passes which winds up bringing the defense up which leads to less success when he calls a run and an increased number of successful blitzes. I'd also like to see more inside runs. Everything is to the outside and most of them get blown up.

This is just not a well coordinated offense. That to me is the biggest thing. After that I'd say the players are not talented, they don't appear to fully understand how to be successful, and they don't look very motivated. All of that is highlighted by the lack of originality and good sense in the play-calling though.

There are a lot of issues but Bill Lazor just failed in his duties to develop something here.

Yes! That was my first thought. Tannehill just really sucks on certain routes. I'm going to say it. He's a good young QB and is very tough but man, he is downright awful on certain throws.

Why Lazor continuously calls on some of those throws though is beyond me.

That is the most infuriating part. Lazor refuses....REFUSES to run the ball near the goaline and keeps running plays that Tannehill cant make. Those fades to the endzone are not even close

The other problem is that teams know we can't run the football. We missed some throws down there but at the end of the day, play action passing can open up things down on the goal line but teams aren't going to buy that.

Oh, and it would be nice if our OL could at least slow down blitzers.

Philbin will blame Devante Parker, and he will likely be inactive the next 3 weeks as a result.

To be fair, and I preface this by saying we overall suck and it doesn't matter, but the penalty on devante was dumb. Jarvis still scores there without the contact that devante gave. It was unneeded and cost us 7.

He can't routinely make those throws you're alluding to.

    I keep beating this drum but he's a comeback/curl guy ..... that's it. He's not a finesse passer.

Yep. But there are those who will ignore everything, and place all the blame on Tannehill. Everything starts with the oline. If they can't block, good luck running or passing.

I'm sorry, but it's not rocket science. Anybody with the most basic level of football knowledge knows games are won in the trenches. No QB can complete passes on their backs. How hard is this for them to comprehend???

Tannehill didn't do anything when he did have time besides errant passes and poor decisions.

So, you missed the game huh?

When he had time he made some great throws.

Reading box scores doesn't tell the story.

I didn't watch the game, Cash. I dvr'd it, then deleted it, without watching, when I got home just now, after reading through the GameDay thread when I was out and about.

That being said, every QB has a bad game. My issue is, Tannehill rarely has great games, due in large part to always having to overcome ****ty oline play. Tannehill absolutely has to play lights out football, every freaking game, for the Dolphins to have a chance.

Till Coyle, Philbin and Lazor are fired.

Play calling, line play and defense were putrid.

But blame the QB, it's easier.

Tannehill doesn't often have "bad games." I think his lowest rating last season was a 70. He'll have a poor half, or some poor throws. It's a problem when your QB is being asked to throw 30+ times, with an oline that couldn't block a D III defensive line, and zero hope of a run game to keep the defense honest. Like I said, Tannehill has to play at a HoF level every game just to give the Dolphins a chance.

It's disgusting to expect that of any QB, and ridiculous to hold it against any QB who can't maintain that level of play every, single game.

This team is a mess from Tannehill to Suh...you will NOT catch me defending a GD one of them!

Why? Because they don't deserve it.

We we have a BAD OL, a lot of teams do....biggest difference? Most OC's find ways to counter it to a degrees...Ryan hasn't done very much either so he is part of the problem. Why isn't he making calls at the LOS?? Is he not allowed? Is he bad at it? Wtf is going on?

Dude, show some respect, alright? People here have been evaluating Ryan Tannehill for a long time. He's now played 52 games in the NFL. That's not a small sample size. He's disappointed people a lot over that time and there has been serious debate (with good arguments on both sides) as to what he brings and what he doesn't.

Please don't join the forum and then take a stance that you're going to be a pest to everyone that is dissatisfied with Tannehill's performance. The truth is, he had chances today and in those chances he didn't look very good. While a running game and some consistent pass protection would certainly help, Tannehill often contributes to the problem in his own ways.

Again, we've seen it for 52 games. Keep that in mind.
