Ok? But the one man crusade you've been on around here to seemingly prove to everyone that Philbin shouldn't be fired tells a different story. You've been going on and in trying to price that Philbin isn't responsible for this mess.

Or that's how it's come across to me.

Him being a Jersey boy with prior HC experience doesn't hurt either, eh?

Perhaps you're failing to grasp the difference between, Philbin is the problem and, Philbin is a part of the problem.

Lazor, Rizzi......doesn't matter, we don't have an Oline. I think the Dline can be salvaged and play better. But if you got no online this league, you got no shot

Oh no, I grasp that. You seem to be saying that Philbin isn't a problem.

With the way Philbin insists on starting Dallas Thomas it wouldn't surprise me at all if Tannenbaum pushed for other FA OL and Philbin declined, saying that he liked the guys they have. Philbin constantly harps on "developing" players and whatnot. I'm just speculating here, but I don't think Philbin actually wanted to bring in other offensive linemen.

If philbin doesnt input on playcalling then he's just as much to blame for the ****ty playcalling. He's the guy who actually can veto lazor and say "run the ****ing ball". Rizzi could change our entire offensive identity by forcing lazor to run the damn ball.

I'll take the blame for that. Let me be be clear, I don't like Philbin, never have. I don't think think he should have ever been hired in the first place.

But I'm not gonna pin all the teams issues on him.

Pretty sure he inputs on decisions like this. I remember a game last season where he said something ins his post-game presser about telling Lazor to run the ball three times in a row, or something to that effect.

I'm starting to see the appeal of Darren Rizzi as the interim guy.

It's sort of like going for an "outsider" in politics. As a guy that is not party to the offensive OR defensive shenanigans, Rizzi isn't tainted in the players' eyes by what's gone on thus far in 2015 on those units. The unit Rizzi is in charge of has been the best unit on the team, and that probably includes all positional units. His main return guy Jarvis Landry looks like a stud on punt returns. He basically taught Landry to be a return man last year, as Landry didn't do any of that sh-t in college. The young guys all play for Rizzi and they play pretty hard.

Rizzi also has the polar opposite personality compared with Philbin, which is something that will matter in the eyes of the players.

It was only University of Rhode Island, but Rizzi does also have some head coach experience...unlike Lazor or Coyle.

Keep in mind we're talking interim head coach. Not permanent head coach.

If Rizzi ends up a good head coach period, it would surprise the hell out of me.

I just would be intrigued by what the team could do with the cloud of Joe Philbin lifted from them, a more enthusiastic and fiery guy leading the way, a guy that isn't really tainted on the offensive or defensive end by what has happened thus far, and a guy that will probably stay out of Bill Lazor's way on offense and out of (most likely) Mark Duffner's way on defense.

Better late than never? Should've changed the whole staff in January after a second straight December where they were awful/miserable and blew playoff spots both times. But what do we know, right?

I also don't think he'll be clouded by pride/stubbornness/whatever it is with Philbin that keeps us from experimenting with personnel.

Drew Rosenhaus two minutes ago on WSVN Sports Xtra: definitely a chance that Philbin is fired tomorrow.

It better be he's f'ing fired or I'm not watching anymore games until he is. Ross better show the fans that he's as unhappy as we are at this failure of a coach, and his staff.

I think that you missed the point there. In other words, it's not a long shot that Philbin is fired, it's a legitimate shot according to Rosenhaus.

And to think....some of you were comparing Philbins white collar approach to the great Don Shula when he first got here.... SMH.
Whether it's the players or the coaching staff, Joe is going to get the blame when shhiit hits the fan. That's how it is in all pro sports. I like Philbin, I had high hopes for him, but enough already. Firing him now would be the last act of desperation to save the season.

Drew is definitely not reporting anything groundbreaking but he is doing his job as a guy that is on the Miami media - he is piling on with the rest of the media to add pressure into a Philbin firing. Miami media always orchestrates this and knows when and how to pile on.

In a game where effort literally means giving up one's health in a way few team sports do, it could be an interesting case study in how much sheer effort matters in the nfl. I remember seeing some studies that showed a common bump when an nfl coach was fired in-season, presumably for this very reason. Case study: the 1-8 Cowboys under Wade Phillips went 5-3 under Jason Garrett. Put it this way, would you give up years of having a sound body and mind for a cause you didn't believe in?

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin isn't worried about his job security after meeting with owner Stephen Ross following the team's third straight loss on Sunday.
"No, not at all," Philbin told reporters in London after a 27-14 loss to the New York Jets at Wembley Stadium. " In fact I don't actually give a flying fluck. I've got a megga contract that will have to be paid up if I am asked to step down, which I won't be, coz I've got the pictures eh Stevie boy. See y'all next week!"

I am not sold on the idea that Ross is going to FIRE Philbin after 4 games. Just does not seem like a move he would be willing to make. Like many said no one on this staff gives them a better chance to win or get to the playoff's this year. Ross already has him on the books, really likes Philbin. I imagine this is going to go down as a hard talking, what is wrong kind of meeting and he will give him the rest of the season to turn it around than let him go on his terms at the end of the year..

No established well know coach is going to leave college, or going to leave another team during the season. This should have been done last season. Ross will say were doing everything we can and bring in a new coach and ask us to wait 3-4 years again. It's a constant thing in Miami.

I'm so tired of the mediocrity, We have been like an average .500 team for like 12 years now. I am really starting to think no matter who owns the team Miami just isn't a city that will every support a top NFL team. Think about this for a second. In Miami there are way to many distractions, the lifestyle is "party" laid back beach, party town. Players think of football as a distraction / just a job. In other cities Football is the ONLY thing around. Greenbay, New England, your identify is based on being a football player. I know this isnt the whole truth but I think it might play into it. Once you get to Miami the party is on...

    Well away from here
    Yeah

Cities like New York have no trouble fielding competitive teams. The whole Miami lifestyle thing is BS, there are distractions in other cities, yet teams do just fine there. Coaching and talent are the biggest reasons the team hasn't been successful; it's as simple as that.

I kind of feel like Ross the business man will prevail also. No smart businessman will be willing to just let the money ride. Ross is a businessman first and I'm sure he is trying to calculate how much money he'll lose if he retains him and the fans revolt, or how much he has to pay out philbin to just leave. Either way he loses money.

I see Ross taking a more firm stand in getting rid of coyle like he did with Sherman. I know this will help with some of the fans, but those same fans still want philbin gone at the end of the year as the very least.

Campbell would be an interesting choice, that I hadn't thought about as an option. I could see him getting the team to recommit to the run, based off of the type of player he was.

I assume (hope) that Coyle also gets replaced, and Duffner gets promoted to run the D.

This would be a start to making the season salvageable.
