A coach who can coach. What I mean is that he can motivate, communicate, inspire, teach, fire up and discipline if necessary these players. I want a coach who will trust in his players. If he has proven in practices to earn a starting spot, then let him play. 1st round picks who show they are ready in practices should be playing. Don't limit the players in the field. Let them play to their ability. Let them play loose and without fear. I want a coach will trust his coaches. No matter who the coaches are, if they are supposed to have a plan for a high powered offense or a nasty defense, let them coach. Trust that they know what they are doing until they prove otherwise. Let them call the play(s) that will be the best in that situation for each of the players on the field. Don't change a play or whatever because you don't think it will work. Trust that it will. If not doesn't, discuss it with the coaches after the game. I want the coach making decisions about timeouts, when to go for it or kick a field goal or punt, challenging a play, etc. Stuff like this. So what do you want?
I wanna make noise in the playoffs and not just sneak in. But my my expectations this season have been tempered. Just win some close games, and show some fire on the sidelines.
I hope your expectations don't involve the playoffs because that ship has sailed and won't be back until next September. I also hope your expectations don't involve another flat, 7-9, 8-8 season where we pat ourselves on the back and get nothing to actually retool this team in the off season.
At this point 7 wins would be a success this year. As to your other point, retooling? Nah, don't think so. Just signed Thill to a major league contract and we just signed Suh to a worse one. We got some lean years ahead, unless our drafts go well. Bwaaawaaahaaaa, you see what I just posted? "Unless our drafts go well" Bwaaawaaaahaaa
Right now what I want for the remainder of this year is a coach who can motivate this supposedly talented roster to play from the beginning to end of every game. I am sick and tired of watching Dolphin games and seeing the team only put out effort for parts of each game. Over the long term, I want the same thing from the head coach that I from the QB. Someone who can lead this team to a Super Bowl victory. Anything less than a win in the SB really doesn't mean a thing in the long run.
