Wilson wouldn't have won any Super Bowls in Miami, but you are vastly underestimating what Wilson does for that offense when they need him the most. He handles pressure very well, Ryan does not...you need to handle pressure well if you have a bad OL...Sea has a bad OL so naturally I don't think they go very far with a lot of other qbs, not to mention a guy like Ryan.

Okay I have to give in on that. Wilson did deliver on that play to seal it with pressure up the butt. Something Tannehill hasn't shown yet when the game is on the line. Okay my friend, I can't be a total Tannehill butt kisser so you win this time lol

I want to believe he is a top QB, but I have to see him change a lot about his game....maybe the new coach will trigger something in his mentality. Or maybe our OC will stop treating our 100M QB like a rookie.

Highly doubt that. Up until this year Wilson has had more pressure, and less time to throw (or about the same) as Tanny. He still put up 100+ ratings, 95 last year.

Totally agree, the game is just slower for Wilson, you can see that watching him, he sees the blitzes better and reacts to them better and makes less mistakes overall, even though Tanne has more "potential" than Wilson, Wilson gets much more out of his game than Tanne.

Again, it's really hard to compare Wilson to Tannehill, for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, Tannehill DOES NOT HAVE Wilson's skillset. Tannehll cannot move laterally the way Wilson does. Second, watch how often they roll Wilson out. They do it all the time. That sets him up to throw to an open guy that finds a hole, or for Wilson to run. Tannehill is always stuck in a collapsing pocket.

No question Bill Lazor is an issue, he isnt adjusting well at all to the constant pressure Ryan gets. Instead of designing something to counter it?? He draws up a slow developing play action pass that makes a bad situation worse.

Hopefully the muscle head makes him change that.

Well, we've learned in the last few days that Philbin, Lazor, and Coyle all have lost the trust of the players who hate the playcalling, dislike their coaches, and dislike the system because it's all basically scripted for them.

This offense appears to be no different. Philbin, as detail oriented as he was, was too stubborn to allow anything outside of his control, and the coaches control. I'd have to guess that's what's gone on here based on what we know. For the QB, it was basically ok, here's the play we've called. Run it. End of story.

I mean it's pretty obvious we were watching an offense the last 4 weeks just going through the motions of what was called. Why else do we see Skrine blitzing 3 straight plays, with nobody noticing or picking it up while we run the same play. What you see, is what Philbin wanted done. There's been reports all over of players mid-game asking for gameplan changes, and Philbin saying no, we're sticking to the gameplan etc. etc. Trust the system and the scheme etc. etc. They haven't given Tannehill that freedom. He has the freedom to check to a run/pass depending on what was called, we heard that last year, but that's about it. We never see Ryan changing, or calling out protections. It's always Pouncey at the LOS. We only see Ryan surveying the defense pre-snap, then execute the play that was called as best as they can.

No whether they haven't given him that freedom because they felt he couldn't handle it, or because they're just stubborn hardasses that just wanted the team to go through the motions and follow their gameplan regardless, we will likely NEVER know. It's all speculation.

By all accounts of Tannehill, he's not an idiot. He's a smart kid. I'm sure he can handle it. I think the frustration from the Philbin neutered walkthroughs, and the frustration Ryan showed Sunday just lobbing it up and throwing it anywhere was more of the mutiny that this team has been going through the last 4 weeks. I suspect we will see some major changes now, especially on offense.

It's going to be very interesting to keep and eye on how this offense changes without Philbin's suffocating control over it. You heard Campbell say it yesterday, we're not going to be conservative, we're going to be aggressive, we're going to attack. It's time to stop neutering these players. Give them control. Put them in positions to be aggressive. Put them in positions to execute, no more just sending them out there like little robots to follow the plan.

There's so much here that nobody will ever know, but I personally think we're in for some big changes when we next take the field. Remember the San Diego game last year? The one we prepared for without Philbin, how different and aggressive that offense was? How much more effective Tannehill and basically everyone else was? That's what I think we're in for the next 12 weeks...

I truly hope that is the case. It would also explain why nearly every player with a strong personality has been systematically removed from the team during his tenure. Seems if you weren't willing to do exactly what you were told and how you were told it, you would find yourself gone.

Good luck finding a Dolphins player to corroborate that Tannehill said anything about a paycheck during practice. You won't. Just an agent.

He did. However, the game wouldn't be on the line in the first place if he doesn't give DET a fumble 6 w 8 mins left.

If anyone won that game, it was Kam Chancellor.

Tannehill has been allowed to change plays at line of scrimmage only rarely since he's been with the Dolphins. And from what I recall, he's done well when allowed to do so. I wonder if his tendency to roll out and sometimes take off running had the coaches scared of injury and they put the reigns on him this year. I do question the decision to not let him run more. If he's getting pounded in the pocket, and he most certainly is, then why not let him run? Maybe the hits you take as a runner are more likely to end in injury than what you take in the pocket? So far this year he hasn't rolled out a whole lot and I think this is probly by Lazor's design and Philbin's complete buy-in. Until the past few weeks, he's done some good things on roll outs and fades.

I recall that game last year when the Coaching staff was throwing Ryan under the bus... he responded by coming out the following week with a great performance that included audibles, a great mix of running and passing. He was on fire and it was because he took control of the game. I recall seeing Philbin's facial expressions following some of the amazing plays Ryan pulled off in that game and seeing that he was more shocked than excited. On one play I specifically recall Philbin actually looked pissed when Ryan had completed a great pass. I suspect Tannehill was going against the coaches calls in that game and he excelled. He demonstrated right then and there that the problem was not him and that he does have the leadership skills. He went on to have a great year as the coaches appeared to open him up a bit more especially in the hurry up offense.

I hope the new coach gives him the opportunity to develop some of that and lets him start running again from time to time. If Campbell can get the lines motivated, and give Tannehill some discretion, I think they could bounce back. Unfortunately we don't know all the intricacies, so there's probably more to it. But if you can't succeed sticking to a failed scheme, then maybe all out balling is the way to go.

    Hi Jeff Darlington!

Just because the man couldn't get any other players to corroborate the story doesn't make it false. Just means they wouldn't go on record. There's probably a tight lid around that franchise at the moment post-Philbin firing.

Most major S. Florida media outlets are running with it from what I've seen.

The practice squad trophy comment means nothing. That's standard trash talk between players in the heat of the moment.

The paycheck comment has been debunked, but of course people won't let that stop them from trashing Ryan's character.
