Well, an update on the awards. Lucky was SUPPOSED to post some more awards sometime this afternoon.

Clearly, that did not happen. Therefore, I suppose we will simply get to the grand finale sooner rather than later.

Planning, preparing and pulling off an awards show of this caliber realy is quite a daunting task. Lets give it up for our judges one more time! In_flames, Section126 and Pagan!


And lets not forget the co-founder and emergency judge, UnluckyLuciano!


As we head towards the final stretch of the initial Phinzees awards, it appears as if, perhaps more awards and categories may be needed. Feel free to PM me with any and all ideas/suggestions/complaints. I am happy to take everything under consideration. Now lets give out the final awards shall we?

In the brief history of www.thephins.com, there have been a multitude of already classic threads and experiences. From the hotel pooping toilet clogging emergency I went through, the fake woman meeting, parents hating trauma that RonnieBrown lied about, and everything in between. But what stood out the most? Which threads captivated our minds, and hearts and parts of our souls and refused to let go? It is time to find out.

The nominees for the Time Stands Still Phinzee (best off season thread) are:

A: Just-To-Talk Thread: The thread that will not die. Given life form Finsgirlie’s birth canal on March 24, 2008, the once cute bouncing baby of a thread has morphed into a giant hideous monster of a thread. Having notched over 800 pages and close to 40,000 views, the JTT crew that includes mainstays such as enforcerfin, alen1, unluckyluciano, Hardkorexxx, griddlecakes and sickfinfan has easily reach iconic status.

B: The Motivational Poster Thread: Started as a whimsical thread to amuse texasPHINSfan’s brand of humor (the point and laugh at others brand…), the thread that came from humble and modest beginnings has continued to churn out wonderful content day in and day out. Honestly though, how can you go wrong with pictures of under age women with a tagline saying you would gladly go to jail? It is funny every time, except for the times it is not. Anyhow, with solid contributions from hardkorexxx, Pagan and even the occasional drop in from yours truly, this thread has earned a place in whatever type of thread hall of fame emerges for this site.

C: The Official/Unofficial thephins.com Poster Draft threads: Perhaps this thread should be renamed Griddles unfinished masterpiece. Because there is no shot of this EVER finishing. Having already been cut in half, the epic contest/thread has given us many a memorable moment. Like how Samphin was drafted first overall. Or when he drafted George Carlin’s rotting corpse to play the o-line. Does anyone remember when he dubbed the Hammer smiley as his QB? Okay, so maybe Samphin has provided the memories in this thread. Nevertheless, it has captured the hearts for at least a little while, of the posters and helped pass the off season away.

And the winner is…THE MOTIVATIONAL POSTER THREAD!

In what can only be deemed a moderate upset, the Motivational thread outpaces and outshines the heavily favored Just-To-Talk thread to win the Gold Dolphin. One can only wonder what went through the judges minds as they cast their vote. In-Flames wrote, “this too was a close match up. If the poster draft actually had a chance in hell at being completed before the end of the '08 football season then my vote may have swung a different way.”

One can only imagine what kind of posters will be made with The Phinzee as its muse. Congratulations to Texas and his thread!

And now, the moment of truth. Here to announce the final award of the First Ever Phinzees Awards, is none other than legendary announcer himself, Michael Buffer!

Thank you Michael. Yes the Billy Shakespeare Phinzee. The most prestigious Phinzee of them all. All others are crap and nonsense compared to the award given to the Bestest Poster of the offseason. Many will feel that they deserve to be nominated. Only three of them are right. Lets see who they are.

The nominees for the Billy Shakespeare Phinzee (Bestest Poster Evar award) are:

A: HardKoreXXX: Just a solid poster all the way around. The guy is able to hold his own when talking sports, alcohol, women and poop. A guys guy through and through, his biggest problem is that he can’t seem to get along with his fun loving, hot girlfriends who want nothing more to do than drink and have hot 3-ways with other girls. Needless to say, I can relate…

B. Sickfinfan33: Quite possibly the oldest youngin of all time. The newlywed and first time parent is an active member of the C2C fins and produces sports talk radio shows for a living. His penchant for remembering movie lines and smashing Samphin’s into the ground is world renown. Oh and he happened to give the funniest interview during the Samphin Presents series.

C: Dr. AstroZoom: The good Doctor is like a childhood blankey. Warm, comforting and always there. Possibly frayed around the edges, ut if you curl up really tight and don’t move much, it can still give you a nice sense of peace. But besides all of that, he has the word zoom in his name, and that automatically gets him a nomination for this award.

The four badge wearing, column writing actor wins yet another award to hang on his mantle along with everything else. Of course, this is the only award that really and truly matters. Nevertheless, the celebrated wheelman form the site wins another well deserved award. Congratulations good sir! You are a winner!

And thus, the end is near. And now we face, the final curtain…

The Phinzees are no more. At least in its current form. Sure, lucky may tack on some drunken sub categories, and I may buckle under the immense pressure from my friends and make some extra awards to appease the masses, but it won’t be the same.

The Phinzees are gone, but not forgotten. The winners still remember, the losers can’t forget. But I did it my way, with no regret.
