Something strangely comforting in the fact that our new head coach could most likely kick any other head coach's *** in this league.

If anything - this has gotten me interested in the season again. If the team plays better then it will be fun again to watch. They might not be in the play-offs and I don't think too many expect this anymore so our expectations are low once again. Of course if we still suck then we have nothing to lose and can look ahead to more changes.

does it really matter who he is? more than likely this team will be gutted at seasons end...

we are a bad team? we see it all the time...

owners spend tons on star players but its the men at war in the trenches that tow the line...

they did not address the oline at all..
RT17 will continue to get killed week in and week out..

ok we got suh but whats the point if our lb's cant tackle...

the rest of the line on defense gets no pressure leaving our poor secondary running around chasing wr's all over the field...

that Jets QB made them look silly and not with his arm......

    feel sry for campbell

I'll be interested to see if the team comes out with attitude and just jacks people up win or lose. I'm still probably going fishing and watching it later though.

Just now watched the press conference with Dan Campbell and all I can say to this point is WOW!!

The one thing that truly struck me was his stance on practice...that you just can't go through the motions throughout the week...that he wants it to be competitive.

We've been missing that intensity for a decade at least in Miami and I just hope this is indeed what I'm seeing and it is what we get.

On a side note, someone said that Campbell looks like a young Cowher. I'll go one further, he looks like a young Cowher that looks like a pro wrestler...that dude is HUGE!

It's not TOO late to salvage the season. I understand the "master motivator" mindset...learned that as a platoon sergeant in the army and if he is indeed able o motivate these players....if he is indeed able to get these players to find that inner personal pride and play for that pride, this could be an interesting season.

I had written the season off, but now...I'm curious.

    GO PHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just watched the presser, too. Fiery.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because it was his first presser, but there was no doubt he was uncomfortable. He mentioned Parcells and Sean Payton specifically. That was interesting.

There are certain qualities in a coach that I like. I do like his "drill sergeant" persona. But he did not strike me as a man who is....omniscient? Not that I pretend to know anything about the guy. Just face-value stuff.

He mentioned one of his qualities is that he can read people; when to push a player, give them a pat on the back, etc. We'll see. I do have a problem (and it's really just a pet-peeve of mine) when individuals declare they are good at a particular thing. Good to be introspective, ya just don't have to put it out there like that.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but this move has the feeling that the top brass has canned this season, and not giving the interim position to one of the coordinators is a shot at them. From TE coach to HC is a big jump. Maybe too big for him. That's like giving the fry guy a store at McDonald's. Not quite, but you get my drift.

Something is fishy about this move. I think if this team surprises, good in their eyes. The brass looks brilliant. If he doesn't, well, what would you expect from a TE coach?

If/when the new staff takes over, let's see if Tannehill is still wearing a Dolphins uni for much longer. This has the smell of Alex Smith 2.0. I have mentioned this in the past, but I was secretly hoping it wouldn't pan out this way.

I almost wouldn't be surprised if this team is sold by year's end....

I like the fact that he is a bill parcells protege. He seems to be a parcells wannabe. Although he didn't outright say it you can tell that's who most influenced him. I think he'll do well in the motivation department. Success or failure will probably come down to the xs and os as well as being lucky with injuries.

When you can your head coach after 4 games you ARE declaring the season as lost. Thats the truth. Maybe Campbell will surprise, but the ownership is already looking to next season.

Tannehill will be too expensive to move for another 2 seasons. Get used to seeing him in a Dolphins uni. He isn't going anywhere for a while.

Ross just put a **** ton of his own money into the stadium, I really doubt he sells it anytime soon.

I fully expect this team to block and tackle better under Campbell. Those fundamentals have been lacking, and it's been horrible to watch. This team has to walk before it can run, Campbell understands this because he's actually been through it, and you can see the frustration bubbling out from watching this team being emasculated by the former head coach. Football is a physical confrontation before anything else. Everything else follows from there. Campbell is clearly more suited than Philbin was to get that fixed. He actually had real concrete answers to questions being asked. How refreshing.

Yes, I do believe that, what troubles me is the reliance on the ZBS when it is a complete failure, like the 3-4, it is hard to find players ready to step in and play in that system.

Not necessarily. There is still plenty of time left. The damning thing is that the position was given to a positions coach and not a coordinator. This basically tells them that they're on a job interview for the rest of the year. They will either perform, or have less options in '16.

As for Tannehill, I'll take your word for it regarding the contract, but what I meant by "Alex Smith 2.0" comment was that Smith had many coordinators he worked under and never really settled in (until now). When Harbaugh came in, he made Smith extremely serviceable, but ultimately let him go in favor of Kaepernick. I could see a similar situation happening to Tannehill.

As far as Ross selling the team? He is certainly invested. But because of his other endeavors, he may deem this particular endeavor too much of a headache....and it certainly has been. As for the stadium, it's merely a piece of property. Making it more appealing for a potential buyer is Real Estate 101.

I'm in no way saying he will sell. I'm just saying that, with the current state of affairs of the team (and all of the mishaps he has endured through his tenure as team owner), I would not be surprised.

What's interesting is that there's a WSJ piece on Ross investing in an ticket brokering agency out of Atlanta that sells Miami Dolphins tickets at a higher rate. Not that this means anything, but I still find it interesting. His stake is small, but still interesting.

That was in direct response to a question from the media of what he believes makes him qualified for the job. In that scenario he either says something he believes he's good at, or he looks unqualified. Also, there's nothing wrong with knowing what you're good at. I work with a surgeon who knows he's good at his job, and his track record is a testament to that. Confidence based on reality is a good thing.
