Time to revise those pre-season predictions!

So, what do you have us at now?

Tough call but I think the switch to Campbell gives us a brief bump in motivation that results in 2-1 over the next three games.

That brings us to 3-4. With film on our new staff's approach for opponents to look at before playing against us.

Then I think the 'primate' thing wears itself out because Campbell's Dolphins get out-coached on X's and O's.

Remaining nine, against good opponents, I think we go 4-5.

    Final record 7-9

Of course there is no way to tell but I think we win our next two and find 3 more wins in there somewhere. Maybe the eagles, jets and chargers. I think the colts and patriots will be looking to finish strong and our "Oklahoma drill" style of practices leave us beat up and hurt in the stretch.

    6-10

7-9. I believe if the team plays like they want it they can achieve more success than they have. But I also don't think we're going to make up for all the major gaps that have developed at key positions.

I also think if Campbell gets this team to show signs of life for the rest of the season he should absolutely be considered for an extension (especially with the weak coaching talent pool out there.) But that's getting ahead of myself.

First we need to see change in action. I don't want to hear anymore talk about the change I want to see it. It's kind of annoying to have to wait another week but its for the best.

even with the boost I expect from Dan being the new coach, looking at the schedule, I'm seeing 6-10 - which is about 3-4 more wins than Philbin and Coyle would have gotten.

Sorry I see no better than 4-12, after the season is over they need to hire an experienced head coach and start rebuilding, AGAIN.

I'm not buying all this sports cliche tough guy talk. This team sucks. And some muscle-bound HC with ZERO experience ain't turning the season around.

    4-12.

cant really tell until i see what the players bring to the table now that they have gotten what they wanted...

    these players have no drive...

removing the staff was part one, in order to truly change the culture part two must be replacing the players....

5-11, but i dont see where we get the wins from...

Miami will have just a good enough record to miss out on all the studs in the draft while only needing one win in their last two games to grab the final wildcard. Broken record.

Campbell probably goes 6-6, so we finish 7-9...though it would benefit us long term to suck even worse, I'd love a top 10 pick in this draft.

Not necessarily. The players may have leadership among them that was so disenchanted with the former coaching staff that it was essentially demoralized and squashed. It's possible that now you could see a great deal of leadership emerge, now that the conditions have changed. Then again it's also possible that the leadership among the players is lacking, and in that case it would be very unlikely that this team plays much differently the rest of the year. The leadership among them is really the lynchpin in this equation.

They'll win a few, maybe the next two against other downtrodden teams, before crashing back to reality when the Patriots and Bills stomp all over them. 5-11 or 6-10. Not quite good enough to draft high.

The thing that made me pause about what you said is that we have to start rebuilding again. To state we have to start rebuilding acknowledges at some point we completed rebuilding. We been "rebuilding since 1973"

Go look at the names available and tell me which one stands out so gracefully and isn't a crap shoot. You know why there aren't many good coaches? Cause all the good teams already have them.

As for last year, I was one of the ones calling for Philbin's head, and Dan Quinn who is now 3-0 with the Falcons was someone I had on my radar.

The years of failure and the fact mid-season coaching changes rarely work will prob make me regret this but ....

This team has talent (and part of the problem is that some of it was hurt, Albert and Wake) and was unmotivated. Most of the time, it is a very poor team with a poor coach that get in the situation where the coach is fired. This team just was ill prepared, and the coordinators were not being managed well enough.

I think Campbell, who in the coaching circles people already see as a good candidate and comes from the Parcel'ls camp, will bring motivation and insist on playing a more hard nosed style. The 1st and ten gimmicky pass, gone. The absolute disregard of a passing game. The hesitant wait and see defense, gone. Add I am assuming Wake and Albert will be healthy from the bye. Those 4 things should make the end result on the field completely different than what we have been seeing.

I am very hopeful that we can see the team come out super motivated for the TEN, HOU games. If we get to 3-3, and find that groove, get some confidence, I think we can see the team we expected. 10 games to go, and need to go 6-4, 7-3 in those games to make a playoff run. Its not easy, but in no way is it impossible.

I can't shake that feeling that ingredients are there, the cook was just high. The beauty about sports is we are always treated to something that has never happened before, so why not us to be the first in season coaching change that actually worked.

Since everyone is shooting low, I'll play devil's advocate just for the heck of it.

When polling this thread in Aug/Sept, there were very few here that did not see Miami in the playoffs with a 10-6 (or better) record. It's the most talented team in a decade or better, but the one given that we saw in week's 1-4 was that this team was playing with very little motivation. The line sucked on both sides of the ball, Tannehill was getting slaughtered and everyone was frustrated. So to say that our new head coach won't make a difference is completely insane...because the team does not need better coaching. They just need to be inspired and given the proper tools/formations to let our play-makers make plays.

The line problems are relatively easy fixes (as I discussed in length in another thread) and Tannehill is good enough with adequate protection. But with better run blocking and Miller in space, this becomes a completely different offense that's going to put up 35+ a game. We finish out the season 9-3 (10-6 total) and we take the 8th place Wild Card slot in the AFC. Dan Campbell also wins coach of the year and its the start of a dynasty.

Again, just playing devil's advocate here because I think it's just as likely that we go 6-10 as opposed to 10-6. But make no mistake, we do have the talent to turn the corner in a hurry and if we manage to get these next two victories, then it can turn into an interesting season quickly.

It worked when we fired Sparano, my friend, and Todd Bowles had this team playing like champions down the stretch. The only part that "didn't work" was that we let one heck of a coach walk for a more experienced Joe Philbin...which is a mistake that we're not likely to repeat if Campbell shines.

I just don't think Campbell is ready to be a head coach in the NFL and he is still stuck with perhaps the worst coaching staff in the entire NFL. I love his enthusiasm, but I'm not sure how effective he will be with the X's and O's and his game time decisions.
While I hope he has success, I still don't see this team winning more than 4 of their remaining games.

So my prediction is that their final record will be 5-11 and they will get the 7th pick in the 2016 draft.

Ive maintained all along that what this team needed was a culture change more then anything else. Weve played four games in neutral, with no fight or intensity because they didnt want to play for Philbin. They want to play for Campbell.

10/6. And at end of season...its not gonna be because of some genius move or scheme change, its gonna be because Campbell will be able to reach these guys and play hard for him. Team hasnt done that for a long time...playing hard for a coach.

Too many holes on this team for them to compete at a playoff level. I think our D can definitely play better but until our OL gets fixed, this offense is going to be our achilles heel. I'd say 5-11.

I want to see some of the building blocks for our future step up their play and/or develop. I'm also back to 0 expectations for the next 3 years. Anything better than .500 football will be a pleasant surprise.

I had Miami at 9-7 prior to the season. At this point, I'll say they go 6-10. I see potential wins against Tennessee, Houston, Baltimore, Indy*, and New England*.

    * Indy and New England could very well have their playoff fates locked up and may opt to rest starters.

I want us to go 12-0. But,realistically i think maybe one more win. They will play harder but will find ways to loose. We are locked into the first pick in the draft. Season is over. We have all seen the first 3 games. We are what we are, the worst team in the league with an average qb and worst oline in the game. I will be shocked if we win 2. I had high hopes like most of you on here but i am a realist. You want proof? Rewatch the first 3 games. We suck man and it hurts. We have too many holes. Cb,lb,ol,qb. We are playing with too many scrubs at too many positions. I want to be soo wrong but i got 20-20 vision and believe what my eyes are telling me. I just hope we dont mess up the first pick

Todd Bowles didn't spend a decade in the league as a player with three Super Bowl teams either. Behind Shula and JJ, Campbell has more playoff experience than anyone else we've hired.

Mike Singletary was fire, brimstone & a disaster. Sports require the ability to temper your emotions and these guys don't need a talk up. They need to know that the HC and staff is in charge, understands the game, puts them in the best position to make a play, and when the game is on the line know what decisions to make.

Dan Quinn walked into a franchise that has "IT". He will be successful because The Atlanta Falcons are a world class organization who know how to consistently put competitive teams on the field.

    Dude. You serious?

Since 2005 the Atlanta Falcons have 5 winning seasons and 4 postseason appearances.
Since 2005, the Miami Dolphins have 2 winning seasons and 1 postseason appearance.

If you're comparing them to us, I wouldn't say that is overly dominant.

The difference is that they have an established QB. Dan Quinn is an excellent coach, specifically great defensive mind/scheme. It's no coincidence that team is going now because of him. The last two years they were garbage and much worse than Miami - hardly what I would call IT.

As far as predictions goes, I think our team will wind up 7-9 - maybe 8-8.

I think we will win the next 2 games to get to 3-3. So much season is left that anything could happen with injuries.

I will predict 7-9, with Campbell going 6-6.
