Dan Campbell preached a more intense and physical team. Especially on the run game. I'm thinking about the future when Ajayi comes back. I know he loves to be physical in the run game. I know y'all remember that last preseason game he played in. He was running over defenders. This is up Campbell's alley. I can't wait to see what he does with him in this offense.
I didn't know much about him until we drafted him but I made sure to watch him during the preseason. Oh I'm sold on him now. I personally think he should've been drafted earlier.
I would be more than happy to see him take Williams spot. I dont see much I like in that guy. Not a decisive runner.
That was the story back in the draft. Universally thought by the "experts" that we got a steal in the 5th.
Yeah that's true... I think he could come back and play now but he can't because of the rule. I think he will show us that he is worthy of a 1st or 2nd round pick.
Assuming this offensive line doesn't revert to their old ways, Ajayi will get a chance to be a wrecking ball.
When Campbell went into his thing about what he felt like it meant for the offensive line and team in general when Knowshon Moreno was running with physicality, I thought he pretty much had to be thinking of Ajayi. But now that they've got Jonas Gray he could be thinking of him too. But this is what he wants. He wants that kind of physicality in his runner, as he think it boosts the psyche of the rest of the offense.
yeah I think he's looking for someone who finishes violently.. Ajayi just looked the part in presesaon, his body is mature, there was some aggressive nature in his style, and he's just got a natural feel for the position.
-widely considered to be the most complete back in this year's draft -28 TD's while carrying the load at Boise St. in his last year; showing a real nose for the end zone -fluid, natural pass catcher -good size, cannot be arm tackled -sick moves at top speed

Ajayi's 39 inch vert was 5th best at the combine for running backs His long jump was 5th best His 3 cone drill time was 3rd best His 60 yard shuttle was 2nd best His 3 cone drill was 12th best Ajayi was #1 in the running back class with 50 receptions Ajayi was #1 in the running back class with 535 yards receiving Ajayi was #1 in yards after the catch with 488 yac.
I want to see more of him to see if he is real. Miller is a 1000 yard back with break away speed. He broke some tackles the other day
I think a better question is how did you come to the conclusion so far that he might not have an upside and potential.
Jay Ajayi potential is nil to me when you have a knee like that. He doesn't have a future in this league. Marcus Lattimore has a brighter future than Ajayi. Loved Ajayi in Boise State but we got to be realistic about him.....
His knee was/is fine all preseason....he craced a rib or sternum from Helmet to chest hit. we cant put a time table on how long his degenerative knee will hold, could be 8 seasons, or 8 games...but he will ball hardcore for as long as he can as if its not a question/issue for him. I can accept that from a RB (which historically have shortest NFL careers to begin with)
I'd like to see better use of our RB's... Miller had 99 yards in the 1st half then 14yrds the 2nd half. I think using Gray earlier in the game to keep Miller fresher for the 2nd half is ideal. Also, even though Gray and Miller are the same size, Gray seems more bashy and can wear down a defense. Less williams pls he can't even field a kickoff without messing up.
