On the NBC pregame show, Rodney Harrison called Reshead Jones "the best Safety in the league". I hate that dude, but he clearly understands Safety play.
Hey, if he brings it against Gronk, Edelman, Lewis, Chandler, etc...I'll agree. Pats present lots of unique problems for safeties (mentally and athletically), so hopefully Jones can step up and prove Rodney right.
actually, you could really make a good argument for Jones (stolen from a reddit thread) Reshad Jones 428 tackles 6.5 sacks 12 interceptions 29 passes defended Kam Chancellor 430 tackles 2 sacks 9 interceptions 31 passes defended These two actually have pretty much the same contract too. Their production is almost exactly the same. The only difference is Jones does it without another ALL-Pro lined up at FS
I imagine Chancellor has also forced many more fumbles than Reshad but has a more expensive contract. Not taking anything away from Jones - he's amazing and is ridiculously disrespected.
Reshad Jones: 4 yr(s) / $28,012,000, $5 million dollar signing bonus Kam Chancellor: 4 yr(s) / $28,002,008, $5 million dollar signing bonus Reshad Jones does have Kam beat on his guaranteed money: $15 million guaranteed versus $7,825,000 guaranteed. Kam has 9 FF, Reshad has 3
I agree with Rodney Harrison. The only dolphins player I own a shirt with his name on it. Plays hard. He's become my favorite player since Hartlines departure and Grimes wife being an idiot.
I don't think it is even close. If you put Reshad Jones in a cover-3 heavy scheme that lets him play in the box 80% of snaps with arguably the best cover corner and safety in the league and you're getting maybe Troy Polamalu level work, rather than just a 4th linebacker you get with Chancellor. If you put Chancellor in the strong safety position in a lot of defenses around the league, you've got issues.
Reshad Jones is Mr. Consistency. He even played well under Coach Queasy. Pro Bowl year most likely if the defense keeps these performances coming.
As much heat as Jeff took here, he could select good players. The coaching staff we assembled couldn't always teach them to be better, but most proved they could be good when they went to another team.
I'm glad at least a few Dolfans know the truth. Our owner finally realized his mistake this season and I bet he keeps the F out of football business from here on out going forward. We're so lucky to have Hickey too imo, we really lucked out with that one. Now all I have to worry about is Tannenbum lol.
