I posted the last Philbin approval rating. That was comically one sided. I'm happy to post this one which should be comically one sided in the right direction!!! I'm trying hard not to get my hopes up too high. We will know a lot more after Thursday's game. But this does seem to be shaping up to be a special season for the interim coach. As critical as I've been of Stephen Ross, I have to give him credit. I never thought he would make the move to fire Philbin, but he did. Big props to the Jags, Bills, and Jets for helping usher out the Philbin era in Miami. Also, by making the move Ross accomplished the following things: Gives the interim coach a legitimate shot to earn the job. The chance to improve the coaching staff internally while still allowing for some level of continuity. Gives the team a shot this season - this one looked like a stretch, but now at 3-3 playoffs aren't out of the realm of possibility. Whatever happens, the decision to fire Philbin early has saved the Dolphins season and given us all a reason to watch again. I can't overstate enough how indifferent I was about watching this team play anymore under Philbin. When I sat at the bar yesterday watching the Campbell coached team I didn't even know what to do with myself. I forgot how much fun it could be to watch the Dolphins play football.
you post a poll after our 2 most dominating victories in over a decade? what do you think the results will show?
So far, so good. You can say that all we did was beat up teams that we had no real business losing to, but how long has it been since we really took it to two teams in a row that way, no matter how bad they were?
I voted no.. Not because I dont like the results cause the last two weeks have been fantastically fun to watch as a Dolphin fan. We have scored 30+ points in consecutive games!!, Beat the texans who we never have before.. However we really haven't played anyone yet. Both teams are sub .500 teams. Thursday we play the best team in the league and while I think we will do better I don't see a win in New England. 31-21 kinda game. We have a tough schedule against good teams coming up so Im going to hold my praise till we see some real coaching against other winning coaches. Easy to praise winning against bad teams.. I think hes done a good job turning on the light switch however and if he can win 6-7 of the remaining games and get us to 9-7 I think he should be considered for permanent coaching.
Ross learns slow, but he seems to learn. If Campbell works out, our FO will be one of the better ones in the NFL and it will be totally unfair for Dolfans to continue criticizing Ross. If he doesn't work out, we'll have to wait and see who is hired before absolving Ross of blame.
and the jaguars and redskins and bills and jets aren't all terrible teams too? if failbin was still here we'd be 1-5. our first 6 games were against trash, we should be 6-0 if it weren't for failbin, maybe 5-1 since 2 of the first 6 games were division games.
And, I would like him a lot more if he snagged us a kicker that didn't scare me every time that he lined up to kick a FG/PAT/kickoff. My prediction: He will cost us at least 1 game this year, if not 2.
If you like the results over the last 2 weeks then your vote should be yes. The poll question isn't - "Do you approve of everything Dan Cambell has done and might do over the rest of the season?" It's a snap shot. A moment in time. How can anyone not approve of an interim coach stepping into a nearly impossible situation and coaching a team that had been listless to 2 completely dominating victories?
Once again, it's not a "Do you approve of Dan Campbell as head coach no matter what happens the rest of this season" poll. The question is do you approve of the job he is doing right now. If the question were, "Should Miami hire Dan Campbell as head coach for 2016?" then I could see people wanting to wait and see how things play out. And to those with the "captain obvious comments", read the OP. I knew it would be one sided. Just as I knew the Philbin poll a few weeks back would be one sided in the wrong direction. It's just a positive post and a positive poll. I know it's hard to switch gears when things were so ****ty just 3 short weeks ago.
Whoever voted no needs to get the proverbial internet pimp smack right across the face. I mean how could anyone not approve of the drubbing we've laid on the last two teams? After watching clueless Joe get dominated by an even worse team!?
lol..prolly dont like rock n roll...or maybe because he threw a couple of f bombs in his locker room speech.
I don't care how good or bad those two teams were. Under Philbin, we rarely beat teams we were supposed to, and never blew them out in the fashion we have the last two games. You may not be drinking the Campbell Kool-aid, but how can you not be happy with his results the last two weeks, and approve of what he's done so far??
Ross is a tool, you don't give credit to an arsenist for helping to put out a fire he started. Actually Tannenbaum fired Philbin as far as I'm concerned.
You do if the end result is a better team than the one he bought. Just blame him for taking too long to see the obvious. If Campbell (or whoever our new HC ends up being) makes this team a playoff contender, Ross deserves credit.
This proves beyond a doubt that there are certain people you can't please and shouldn't try to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Did you see WAKES shoelaces MOTHER OF GOD one was loose!!! Campbell has lost control of the players already!!!
i think those two should prolly re-read the title..if you dont approve of the job he has done thus far considering the variables he inherited your acting very weird..
People will say "um but its the Texans and Titans" and I say, so what? Titans almost beat the 1 loss Falcon team, Texans beat the Jags, a team we lost to week two last week scoring 30+ points. Its hard to win the the NFL, and to dominate 2 weeks in a row, against any team, thats special. Thursday is a HUGE test, but I am more confident now we win than if we had Philbin.
You are correct Im no stinking JEST fan!! I do approve of the job he has done so far.. Im not ready to say hes our best option next year and going forward. I was just pointing out that I need time to see how he does against good teams. How does he adjust what happens when someone mouths off and causes a scene on the sideline. It's easy to coach when winning. but yes I approve of his job so far....
If Sean Payton gets fired or he leaves NO, would you guys still want Dan Campbell over him? Very hard to decide but i would love to see Dan Campbell get his chance here.
Remove the interim tag...RIGHT NOW! I was so more down on Dolphins football than I ever possibly imagined I could be just 3 weeks ago. Sure I'm sure we won't dominate like that every week and perhaps we will see a screw up from Campbell here or there but he has shown enough potential in these first 2 game that I'm willing to take my chances.
Great thing about this decision is we get to make it after we see Campbell for 12 games. It should be more than enough to know how good he is.
