Lebron on the sidelines laying on the floor reminded me of Steve Nash lol is that going to be an all season issue? Jeez, glad we had him when he was in his peak.
Id rather see the bulls or pretty much anyone besides the Heat and Celtics there then Lebron...I just dont think itll happen
I think the Cavs should be the heavy favorite although I think Miami and Chicago could take a real shot at them. I really don't think the Spurs are nearly the lock people are making them out to be. There are so many good teams in the West and the Spurs lost pretty easily to the Clippers last year (a team I don't think is all that good). Aldridge is obviously a great get, but will he be healthy? Will their aging players fall off? I'll never count Pop and those guys out, but I honestly wouldn't even make them the favorites in the West right now.
"There are many men...many of you in this room, that said at the conclusion of last year, Maybe even said it openly....that Next year........ will be different, Well...Next Year is Here. The ...Time...Is Now. All of the running...all of the weights...all of the hitting...all of that.... Was for this moment. The ...Time...Is Now. Don't any of you underestimate this moment. I walked through a stadium with 100,000 people in it.... Every reporter, every network, national TV... They put this game on a National Holiday....everybody is home from work ready to watch you... When this happens..... It brings about PRESSURE.... Big Moments..brings about PRESSURE.. and PRESSURE does one of two things... (pointing at FSU's lockeroom) For the good....FOR THE GOOD...it can make them fold.... But for US..THE GREAT..it just makes us FOCUS..... So when you run out there and those 100,000 people are yelling..and they are yelling AT YOU.. YOU FOCUS. When the game starts and everything is moving so fast and something doesn't go your way.... and trust me..it will happen..... FOCUS. But when you find your way...and you turn things around..and things start going your way.... and you know you can put a team away....that's PRESSURE... FOCUS. I was in this lockeroom down 19-3 at halftime with everything on the line..and I said.. Only one way we get out of this... Make a promise..one man to another... I WILL GET MY JOB DONE. The truest thing with every championship team is a promise made..... I WILL GET MY JOB DONE. CAN YOU ALL PROMISE THAT TO EACH OTHER? Well..that day...WE MADE HISTORY. and TODAY..you get your chance to write your own History.... AND DON'T LET ANY MAN..get in the way.. Of writing your OWN HISTORY." - Michael Irvin
People don't think Warriors have a chance to repeat? I'm certainly not counting them out. In fact, as the reigning champs I have them as favourites for now.
I do as well. I think they're that good. And I think Curry, Thompson, and Green are still ascending players who haven't peaked yet. The way defenses have to scramble to contest their three-ball shooters is unreal, and it opens up so much space that Steph and Klay are learning to attack better. The defense is tenacious, and they're amazing at home. Health is the question like it is with everyone, but taking injuries off the table I think they're still the best team.
This is from the Heat's new intro. People (Mike Ryan in particular) are having a field day with it on twitter:
I'm not dismissing GSW so much as I'm giving SAS credit. Yeah they lost to a good, not great, LAC team last year. But SAS had played more playoff games the last few years then anyone along with Miami. That's a good thing but less so wen you have an older roster. So they added another go to scorer in LMA who will fit right in and help ease the burden on TD, TP, and Leonard. Additionally it will make them a taller and probably better defensive team. Duncan never wanted to be a C because he didn't want that physical beating (his words not mine) but at this age and the fact he's too slow to guard many 4's now, this is a good thing. Also having LMA means less pressure on the reserves like Patty Mills, Diaw, manu etc to have to be big time scorers. You do not want a half court game with that team and in the playoffs that's exactly what you're getting. Imo they'll be hoisting the Larry O Brien at years end.
Pat Mother F'n Riley... getting Gerald Green on the vet min when he deserved a max contract. What a Don.
haha, I was thinking the exact opposite. I was like great we have J.R. smith on this team now I dunno if i can watch a guy chuck all season. Also not sure whats up with spo and whiteside no reason for him not to be in the game towards the end.
Hell yeah *****. Turnovers sucked, but wade, bosh, winslow, deng, dragon, green, all looked ****ing great, and the spacing was great. Whiteside will snap out of it. We back.
Whiteside didn't have much of an offseason, keep in mind. Al seemed to get him in a funk he couldn't quite get out of. Hate to see that immaturity/attitude show up, but I think he'll be all right long-term. But this team man. So much depth, such balanced scoring, able to limit guys' minutes when we have to, so many lineup combos. Hotdamn. Spo has a lot to work with, and tonight was a nice glimpse of all these pieces. Deng was a very pleasant surprise; i'll be curious to see how many minutes/games they have in mind for him. And I'm sorry, but Winslow is a stud. Tough to tell his impact in the box score, but he was +26 in 26 minutes...
Gerald Green is going to be a guy we love and hate all season I think. His shot selection is awful. He was making his shots tonight, though, and it's nice to have a guy that can score like that off the bench. The Heat haven't had that in some time. I've said this before, but he really reminds me of Jamaal Crawford. Dragon looked really good tonight. Whiteside not so much. I'm not overly worried, though as he's still easing his way in. Bosh got off to a really nice start, and Wade's jumper looked good, which is encouraging. I din't really get why Haslem was the 1st guy off the bench. I thought he was nothing more than a great locker room presence and sometime enforcer. He actually played ok tonight, though. I love what this team looks like with McRoberts on the floor. The ball just moves really well when he's out there. I am so impressed with Justise Winslow's floor game and basketball IQ. If he ever develops as a scorer, he could be special. He makes the right play just about every time and is already arguably the Heat's best defender already. He had a ridiculous +26 in the game tonight. He still looks really tentative trying to score (he passed up a few open shots), but it was nice to see him with a monster dunk and a 3 tonight. I got to be in the Cavs' team shop TV spot this year - so expect me to post this gif after every Cavs win. Especially tonight's. (Also that's not my Twitter handle - just the dude's who made the gif)
Also, I'm going to the game tonight and it's my wedding anniversary. So if the Heat win you'll have ruined my night and my anniversary. Which is probably proper punishment for having posted that gif.
Not crazy about this spot for the Heat. Bunch of new players and lineups, rotation not settled, first road game of the season against the East's best team. Kind of like with the Phins this week: task a little too tall at the moment. Give it a couple months and we'll see how we stack up. Should be fun to watch regardless.
Here's hoping you have a miserable wedding anniversary. Well, maybe just 2 1/2 hours of it. You can have a great anniversary for the other 21 1/2 hours of it. I think the Cavs win, though. The Heat always play them well, but this team has a lot of work to do to become a cohesive unit. Once they are (and if they stay healthy), watch out, though.
Painfully bad defense from the 2nd unit frontcourt. McBob and Amar'e can't slow anything down, let alone stop things around the rim. That's a problem.
Spo sticking with that bench lineup when it was apparent from minute one it sucked *** defensively really ****ed us over. Two double digit scoring runs on that unit.
Good thing the NBA regular season entails 82 games. We need Dragic to pick it up. He was given a fat extension to help run what should be a sick pick and roll with Bosh. I'm sure he'll get out of this funk and I'm pumped to see what he can do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dragic is not in shape... I know he has had a busy offseason enjoying new money and his newborn but he has responsibilities too and the guy is huffing and puffing all over the court. Time to get him in Heat shape.
