    Best quote for me:

"I feel like I've been blessed with the ability to read people somewhat, understand what makes them tick, what helps them, what hurts them"

If he really is good at that, then this is a guy that should be able to keep players motivated regardless of the situation, and these last 2 games won't just be the usual emotional bump you get with a new HC. We'll see..

    Dan is awesome.

This reaffirms to me that Dan is a player's coach. He may not be super involved or knowledgeable on the X's and O's side of things but that is ok. That is what his coordinators are for. As long as those units are producing I expect HCDC to stay out of their way. He isn't going to be a defensive mastermind like Belichick, or an offensive guru like Payton, but he may be able to pull the most effort out of his players and that is just as good.

His intangibles are OFF THE CHARTS in my opinion. Love the guy already...even if we lose this game.

    Well away from here
Something different about the guy. It seems as though the players are playing for him, which is certainly an asset. Time will tell how good he is when things get tough.

I think he should be the permanent Head coach before the end of the season. He has obviously earned it. The players want him to be the coach now and the future.

He looks like the love child of Bryan Cranston and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I'm sold on this guy.

With the whole Rooney rule thing, I'm not sure if we're technically allowed to call him the permanent head coach mid-way through the season, but if we beat the Pats tomorrow...I'm pretty darn sure that it's his job. But how does that even work? The whole darn world knows that he's the best for the job, yet the Fins have to go find a minority dumb enough to take an interview for a job they obviously can't get.

Additionally, I don't think people realize what a big deal it is for the NFL to do a full spread article like that with a personalized landing page....they very rarely do that and they're super-selective with the stories they feed to the press. So that makes me think that the league is backing this move just as much as we are, and it makes me curious what happens if we have dysfunctional headsets, bugged locker rooms and lip-reading analysts forwarding the plays to Bellicheat tomorrow night. You wouldn't think the NFL would let their new poster boy get robbed now, would you?

Plain and simple, we HAVE TO WIN tomorrow night. It may be the biggest game of the decade for this organization.

Rodney rule, lol...they should call it the Rodney King rule.

Btw- it's Rooney, but not that far off...

LOL, I was typing too fast there..but the typo sort of worked out in a humorous way anyway. =)

Not that the Rodney King saga was funny, mind you, but it's basically how the minority candidate will feel trying to convince Ross that he can produce more as head coach than what Campbell's done so far.

I just hope that if he does do good, finished 8-8 or 9-7, we don't do something stupid and go after a big name. I feel much more confident in taking a chance and see what he can do. So far he's exceeding expectations.

As an interim coach, he's fine. But I don't think I'd want him as a permanent head coach. I know everyone is excited about him and the team, but I just don't see him as the kind of guy hoisting a Lombardi trophy. He strikes me as the right guy for the moment. A transitional figure from Philbin. But what makes him better than a Sparano type? I'd much prefer someone with more experience and x's and o's knowledge. The ability to break down the x's and o's and scheme accordingly is a trait I badly want in a HC.

without leadership and the ability to make players ac****able to themselves and each other an x's and o's guy is worthless..

I believe were founding out that the biggest component for a head coach is his ability focus 53 grown men to channel all their energy into the right cause..

I am cautiously optimistic. My initial reaction, as well, was that he comes off as a guy without much knowledge/experience of the X's and O's. That's simply because there's not much out there on him. There may be more depth to him. There may not?

While Philbin did not seem to rally the troops, I would say Campbell learned a lot more about coaching from Philbin than he may even know. The good and the not so good. I'm interested in seeing real-time adjustments. It's easy when you're up 41-0. Let's see if he can get this team to punch them in the mouth and take their Halloween candy early, and then let's see how the team reacts when the inevitable push from the Patriots comes. I'd pay money to see what happens in the locker at halftime.

I do not think Campbell has to be the most cerebral guy in the room. There are many entrepreneurs and CEOs who admittedly hire those who are much brighter. There is a difference in understanding (and more importantly, understanding the vision for the business/company/team), than understanding ALL of the idiosyncrasies within a particular play, spreadsheet, etc.

If he has that knack for understanding in what it takes to get there, but not having to know EVERYTHING and allowing bright individuals to do their jobs, he may just have something brewing.

For every Shula, Belichik, and Walsh, there is a Philbin, Cam Cameron, and maybe even say, a Chip Kelly.

Not that I want Miami to lose, but if they lose tonight, I would be VERY INTERESTED in how this coach and team reacts. Very interested. If they lose, and while it's still early in his tenure, he could very well win or lose this job in how he handles it.

I want a win. But a loss tonight may tell me more about the man himself. I'm actually a little wary of a win. I don't want this to be fool's gold. If he goes into next year as HC, and this was a successful season (playoffs and all), what happens when the salary cap hits? What happens if coordinators seek other employment? What happens with the inevitable roster change?

What I do know now is that the team is buying what he is selling. I just hope the apples are still ripe when the team bites into them.

*This is kind of a mish-mash post simply because it's before 5am and I've not reached my peak quite yet. If it's everywhere, I apologize*

Regardless of what happens this season, I am grateful for Dan Campbell for making me excited for this team for the first time since we made the playoffs with Pennington. He's really breathed life into this franchise and fanbase.

Why do we assume Campbell is an idiot who knows nothing about x's and o's? Obviously I'm not saying he's a guru of some sort, we can't know that, but he sat in film rooms his entire adult life, learned different offenses and had to understand defenses as a player as well. I'm not saying he will ever excel in that area, but at the same time I don't think it's fair to just assume he's not capable of understanding the game enough to have a positive impact schematically.

i dont think anyone but the stupid pundits who are mocking him are the ones that are assuming he doesnt because of his personality..

I think we here are in wait and see mode because hes got eveything else, and if he does have the neccessary accumen to deal with the beliceks of the world, then were all gonna freak out man..

I don't think anyone here called him an idiot. I just don't see the x's and o's being his coaching style. With what he have seen the past 3 weeks, the biggest thing he has done is let his coordinators do their jobs.
