Not sure which is worse the past 16 games between the offense of defense. That the defense has become pathetic is understandable as Miami has spent the majority of their top draft picks the past 5 years on trying to build an offense that is rather anemic.

In the past 5 years Miami's draft:
4 of the 5 1st round picks on offense (C, QB, DE, T, WR)
3 of the 5 2nd round picks on offense (RB, T, DB, WR, NT)
3 of the 5 3rd round picks on offense (TE, LB, DB, T, T)
3 of the 5 4th round picks on offense (RB, TE, LB, DB, G)

So Miami has spent 13 of the 20 picks in the 1st thru 4th rounds on offense the past 5 years...QB, RB, RB, TE, TE, WR, WR, C, G, T, T, T, T

Personally, I think we should be getting more bang for our buck.

The defense has been neglected through the draft and it is showing on the field of play which is understandable. The 1st rounder they did spend on the defensive side of the ball was Dion Jordan...ugh!

Miami has focused their efforts on building an offense that can compete in today's NFL. However, Miami has scored 17 points or fewer in 8 of the last 13 games and 9 of the last 16 games...that SUCKS!

    The past 16 games Miami's offense has scored...7, 10, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 16, 17, 20, 22, 24, 31, 35, 36, 37 (subtracted defensive scores and punt return for TD) for an average of 19.69 PPG

When a team scores 17 points or less in 9 of the their last 16 games and 24 points or less in 12 of the last 16 they shouldn't expect to be any better than 6-10 which is exactly what our record is during that time.

Would help to know where he was in the progression. You have to assume that if Matthews was the first read, he would have thrown it to him, if the situation is as you described. I'm guessing this is the throw to Landry. If so, I would have liked to see a second look at it. It was deflected by the DB, but I can't be certain he was blanketed. Really wanted to see a replay from an endzone angle.

The announcer literally criticized Tannehill's decision making on the play, showed the replay and did a freeze frame to illustrate it. Both WRs ran directly in Tannehill's line-of-sight. Progression would be "Throw it to the WR that is open and will get the 1st down instead of the one who is blanketed."

    Endzone angle

Yes, I was at the bar and I didn't get to see the replay of the 3rd down throw to Landry. If we're talking about the same play, it was a 7-8 yard attempt to Landry crossing over the middle.. Maybe that's not the play you're thinking of.

    Is that how it works?

Never said he did. He makes the decisions on who to throw to though, no matter which pass play is called. He doesn't have to throw to the first option.

I thought that criticism was a little ridiculous. They brought like 6 guys on the play, and Tannehill threw quick to the receiver that he trusts the most, Landry. Hard to fault him on that play. They were actually criticizing him for not throwing the comeback on the outside, also.

That's why I want to watch the play again. I believe Landry was his first read and don't know where Matthews was in his progression. Ryan must have thought he could complete the pass and had trust that Landry would catch it despite the coverage. He did make an accurate throw, if I'm thinking of the right play, but the defender made a good play on the ball. Really want to see it again.

But one play doesn't explain why Tannehill hasn't been targeting Matthews as often anymore. It's not like Matthews has been locked down by Revis or just forgot how to get separation.

If we have Rodgers or Brady QBing that game yesterday.....we still lose. Thats a fact! We gave up 400+ yrds and 260+ rushing yards. yet we have people on here who just continue to bring up his name. Can RT be better...for sure. Do we have a chance when our ST's and DEF play like that...not much.

I'm beginning to accept that Ryan Tannehill is no better than Mark Sanchez was for for the Jets.
