And that's being propped up by Paul George and LeBron James having uncommon good results against Winslow given the shots he forced them to take, IMO. I remember thinking when I watched LeBron playing Winslow that LeBron got locked in because they had a rookie on him, but that Winslow was forcing him to take iffy shots and LBJ was just making it rain. It wasn't a lack of quality defense on the part of Winslow. George was the same.

And what is just as impressive to me is what he is doing on defense when he is NOT on the ball. Really take a look at that sometime. It's really damn impressive.

Yeah he's really something on defense. Strong as hell but quick enough to play tight, trails and sticks to guys, doesn't let himself get screened (somehow!?), last night he was calling out assignments in transition, lol. So disciplined and relentless. And yeah, sometimes you play great defense and the guy scores anyway; that's what premier NBA wings do. But Winslow doesn't let that affect him; next possession he's as locked in as ever. It's crazy. DeRozan got him on a play to the baseline in the 1st half, but Justise just kept plugging and absolutely owned that matchup in the 2nd half.

The +/- numbers reflect what you see in the games, too. Right place at right time with right decision, very very active, affecting the game in every possible way but putting it in the hoop himself. Stuff just looks and feels better when he's out there. Regardless of what happens with Green going forward, I do hope they make an effort to keep Winslow's minutes below 30 though. Not trying to find that rookie wall with him leading the team in minutes and often guarding the opposition's best player. I get the injuries and resting veterans, and I get that it's hard when your best lineups include him...but I mean, he is 19.

Heat have traded Rio and Ennis to Memphis for Beno Udrich and Jarnell Stokes.

Udrick is a pretty good offensive point guard, and Stokes is a bruiser at PF.

Not sure how I feel about this. Rio had a pretty good Heat career. He was awful in the playoffs in '13 and pretty bad last year. He started off this year nicely, though, and was part of a good defensive second unit. Stokes might actually give us something we lack off the bench, which is a big that can bang.

Jeez no wonder LeBron left for an owner that wasn't so worried about luxury tax.

Only the New York Knicks, The Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trailblazers, and Brooklyn Nets have paid more in Luxury Tax than the Miami Heat.

Cavs paid Luxury Tax for 3 of the 7 years LeBron was there in Cleveland.

I hope you were being sarcastic as that being a reason LeBron "left".

As for the hemming and hawing.....Phin-O.

Chalmers had recently been demoted to the 3rd string PG behind Tyler Johnson. He was making almost $5 million a year with a Luxury tax tag of $12 Million.

You have to be a blithering idiot as a GM to pay your third string PG $12 Million for a year....or Dan Gilbert.

First Arrison jettisons Mike Miller which forces LeBron to leave and now he won't even pay enough to put a decent team together to challenge LeBron in the East. Sucks for Heat fans.

Watching Heat shed talent to get under the tax just drives home how lucky Cavs fans are to have a great owner like Dan Gilbert.

    An interesting re-positioning.

Gave up some defense going Chalmers to Udrih. Added some better floor shooting, stop and pop ability which could provide some better floor spacing.

The Heat are a little one dimensional when it comes to how they score. Everything is either at the rim or behind the arc. It's great that everyone from Hassan Whiteside to Chris Bosh, Luol Deng, Dwyane Wade, Gerald Green, Amar'e Stoudamire, Justise Winslow, Goran Dragic and even Tyler Johnson are especially good under the basket. And somehow it even looks like the Heat have had some better three point shooting this year. But the only two guys I've seen that can reliably shoot a mid-range jumper are Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Unless I'm missing someone. That wasn't Rio's thing. Everyone's either behind the arc or at the basket.

That has to be part of what they're thinking by adding Udrih. They've got a few options for getting to spots on the floor in mid-range and hitting the shots, but I don't know how ideal they are. It's my understanding that could be where Udrih comes in.

If the Heat dump Birdman, they will solve their Tax issues and then setup to spend into the Luxury Tax without penalty till 2019.

I WONDER WHY THEY ARE DOING THAT?

Sad to see Rio go but I understand the move. He gave some great highs and some low lows. A truly underrated defender and one of my favorite players in his time here - love his swagger. Hope he does great things in Memphis.... now time to get that discounted Chalmers jersey haha.

Mario F'ing Chalmers. Dude had balls when it came to putting up a big shot.

I'll forever remember everyone screaming at him whenever things would go south in the playoffs.

It was coming. With Tyler Johnson and Richardson, Chalmers had become an expensive luxury. Beno Udrih also adds a different skillset which might be positive.

Bittersweet departure though. Chalmers is part of Heat history and will be missed, but at the same time his daily dumb plays and bonehead mistakes will not.

Don't mean this as a troll - but what's the backup plan to Durant? That 2016 FA class is heavy on big guys and point guards but not much else on the wings.

Is there a path where they keep Whiteside and add KD?

I'm assuming the hope is DWade takes a massive payout again?

Anybody that knows anything about Arison knows the guy is not cheap. Miller was injured all the time during his Heat career.

Are you trolling or are you serious? I can't even tell, seriously.

    Yep, this is officially bait.

No way you're serious about calling Miller the cripple and Rio the turnover prone point guard talent. No offense to cripples, but Miller had no business being a pro player by the time the injuries piled up.

No way you call Gilbert a great owner after that letter he wrote unless you're trolling.

No way Wade takes such a big paycut that we can sign Whiteside and Durant. Wouldn't we have to trade away McRoberts too for that to happen?
