Not sure where you got those numbers but David Carr never had anything close to a 104.3 rating in his career, except maybe in college.

He likely meant to say Derek Carr... for Oakland I'd assume. Those are his numbers on the year so far.

dereck carr hasn't won crap and isn't elite, yet, just like tannehill. i thought the whole argument is that tannehill sucks not that tannehill is ordinary. carr is ordinary and tannehil is ordinary so i don't see the point in comparing the two.

In fact the guy was gushing about how good his oline was in a recent presser saying how easy it is to throw when you have all the time in the world

    Run blocking rank 10
    Pass blocking rank 1

Derek Carr? Maybe from Latavius but the offense is vertical. And hes one of the best vertical passers in the NFL already.

Hes got monsterous numbers, 105 rating, 63% completion, 7.7 yrds average per pass, 19 TD to just 4 INT.

If the NFL provides a rewind of Oakland vs Pittsburgh you all should watch that kid play. Thats a franchise quarterback in Oakland. Hes got the respect of his teammates, the teammates view him as the leader, they rally behind him, and he always gives his playmakers a chance to make a play at the ball. Balls of steel and a never quit attitude.

I said it last week, he is the only player in my view that is anything close to Aaron Rodgers. And the entire league are fools for letting him slip so far.

I wonder how far they will let Brandon Doughty or paxton lynch slip next year.

Dont mind muskrat, he has no freaking idea what hes talking about. Comparing Tannehill to Carr is insulting to Carr unless youre talking David Carr. Tannehill compares to David, theyre both ordinary.

    Derek is elite.

but that's not the point. The point of it being historic is just a curiosity. Yes Watkins killed us but it's not anything special with the two 100 yard rushers and a 150 yard receiver. It's just a curious stat. If Tyrod threw for 400 yards with nobody gaining more than 100 is that somehow less? Not really

Oakland has really built themselves a nice offense out there. Good RB, Good WR's, up and coming QB (so far), Their D needs some work still, especially their DB's, but damn, they are trending up, no doubt about that. Del Rio is doing a good job out there. I don't think anyone can look at a game against Oakland as an easy win anymore, that's for sure.

Honestly and this is more of a prop to Carr then a slight at Tannehill but I'd be willing to guess about 31 GM's will take today's Derek Carr over Ryan without hesitation.

I might buy into the OL argument and running game argument that Tannehill would become a franchise type QB if not for this:

In college, as a "5th year senior" Tannehill played behind an outstanding OL in college. In fact, one of his tackles ended up the second pick in the draft and the other ended up the 8th pick in the draft. The center plays for the Seahawks. On 531 attempts Tannehill was only sacked "9" times.

Out of 115 starting QBs the average that year (2011) was for the QB to be sacked 5.7 times per 100 attempts. Ryan Tannehill was only sacked 1.7 times per 100 attempts which ranked "5th" out of 115...OUTSTANDING OL play.

Texas A&M also had a really good running game:
Excluding Tannehill's running the rest of the team = 453 rushes, 2345 yards, 5.18 ypr, 25 TDs and were led by Gray = 198 rushes, 1045 yards & 5.3 ypr, 12 TD and Michael = 149 rushes, 899 yards, 6.0 ypr, 8 TDs

    Ryan Tannehill passing game:
He also had a very good group of WRs (Fuller,Swope, Nwachukwu).

Yet, Tannehill finished "56th" out of 115 starting QBs in QB rating (133.2), "53rd" in completion % (61.6), and "67th" in YPA (7.1), "71st" in TD% (5.5%), and "66th" in interception% (2.8%). Again, the rank is out of 115 starters.

    Notes:
Tannehill wasn't a converted WR. He was a backup QB that played WR. Never missed a QB meeting and got the reps a backup QB gets according to reports.
Played 7 games the previous year so had starting experience.
Led the preseason #8 ranked Aggies to a 7-6 record and out of the top 25.
Had "0" GWD and the Aggies lost 4 games when leading in the 4th quarter. Tannehill's second half QB rating of 116.3 would have placed him "93rd" out of 115 QBs!
2011 was the year before the Aggies migrated to the SEC where Manziel led the team in 2012 to a 10-2 record.

So the evidence is there that having an outstanding OL and running game still is not going to be enough for Tannehill to be a legitimate franchise type QB.

Guys, you heard the latest on Luck? Now that's a bad OL. Yes, he was injured on a scramble this time but he was injured before then in the pocket.

I think we can all agree now that Luck really has been hindered by injuries all season.

Edit: Oh, and if you don't watch NFL Network, Faulk had predicted before the Broncos/Colts game that the single game sack record would be broken.

We can stop comparing Luck and Tannehill now.

You may not agree with the opinion, but Derek Carr has been far more productive this year than Tannehill. There's no doubt about that. I may not say he's better than Tannehill, but his production this year sure is. They're offense is much more vertical based than ours though, that has a lot to do with he, but he's made some bigtime plays this year for Oakland, and is a big part of their success. You really could argue he's contributed more to their success, than Ryan has to ours. That's not a knock on Ryan, it's just true. This is coming from someone who sits in a Tannehill jersey every Sunday. Let's just be honest here.

You could also add to that, that Tanne has not had as good an 8 game stretch in his entire NFL career, Carr the younger is ballin right now.

Oh my word. The lunacy in here. Go look at Carr's year. Carr has not had an amazing 8 game stretch. The last three have been great. In the first four, he had one great game, the others were not crazy.

Last season he had an amazing 5.5 yard average pass total. I can only imagine the meltdown on here if Tannehill averaged that for a season.

    1. it's way too early to say carr is elite after 4 good games. it takes seasons to be great.

    2. i'm just trying to figure out ya'lls measuring sticks. one place you say it's wins, another place you say it's yards and td's and int's ect. so sorry if i'm really confused you guys change the barometer so much to fit your agenda i'm just really confused.

I definitely am not going to argue he has played well this year. I would not be surprised if injuries are a factor. Dude has taken some "huge" hits behind a porous OL and manages to get off the throw or bounce of the defender. I will say Luck does have a history of playing well with a poor supporting cast and leading his team to the playoffs.

Most importantly he has shown to have incredible leadership skills (teammates love him) and a difference maker when the game is on the line. In his short career he already has 10 4th quarter comebacks and 14 GWD including 2 or each this year. That was a pretty gutsy performance he put on against the Broncos the other night.

That doesn't change the fact that it is a better 8 game stretch than Tanne has ever had in his 3.5 years, so your really just chipping at your guy Tanne with that comment.
