We all agree on that. We just believe Tannehill can and should improve despite the current circumstances.

ok..def I can agree with that completely. He does need to turn from a QB who needs a decent line infront of him, to a QB who can make things happen on his own. I think he can...he may need an actual QB coach to develop him..but I do believe he has the potential for that.

Damn that was easy...why could we just bridge our difference of opinion on Tannehill so easily?

Tannehill had a GREAT OL in college and didn't perform at that lower level, but apparently he would at this level with a good OL...interesting

It sounds like you believe that a team, in particular this team, has to reside in choosing to improve either the QB or the OL but can't do both. There is another option which is to do both.

Although someone might think about it easier to build a great line, since 2011 Miami has spent two 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick, two 3rd round picks, and a 4th round pick on the OL, along with signing a former 1st round pick to a $46 mil / 5 year contract. In the meantime Miami hasn't spent a single draft pick on a QB in the past 6 years other than Tannehill.

So maybe it's time to at least try to improve the QB position as well.

No..I just believe we can make a better line, and I believe Tannehill needs to get better. Thats how I improve the QB position. You just dont like Tannehill, I do. Pretty cut and dry if you ask me.

In the end...youll just be sputtering over and over for the next few seasons...because well ..sucks for Tannehill haters..hes our QB.

I agree, Tannehill does need to get better. I am not a Tannehill hater. What I'm a hater of is Tannehill's play up to this point. I am totally open to him stepping up his game and leading Miami to the playoffs and beyond.

What it actually sucks for is Dolphin lovers...whereas you'll just be sputtering about how Tannehill just needs...as long as he is QB.

I feel pretty damn good we will be winning playoff games with Tannehill so Im just fine. If hes gone, then Ill be pulling for our next QB. And just like every QB weve had since Marino, there will be a crowd who cant stand him, and a crowd that likes him. Just part of life as a Dolfan

Hey if someone has a better solution then Tannehill that does not include waiting another thrre years for him to develop..by all means lets hear it. Ill sign the petition form if its realistic. Im not married to Ryan in any way.

Sounds like you blindly support the QB because he is wearing a Dolphin uniform and believe in him. All the OL also wear the Dolphin uniform. You don't think they would rather have a Rodgers or Brady behind them to make their play better? So why not blindly support the OL that they will improve and get Miami to the playoffs?

the botom line is no matter the state of the line, you must be able to either manipulate the pocket and reset or you must be able to know when to tuck and get some yardage to lift your team out of a bad play...Ryan does neither very well...

So those who wanna wait and just build a steel wall in front of him and wait for the playoffs wins to come, that scares me..QB has to have an abilty to move his platform with deftness.

The #1 thing tom brady worked on all offseason was movement in and around the pocket and also when to take off past the LOS, if hes trying to get better at the element, ryan must first try the basics, at least be conscious of them, {which there are 0 signs of} then work on mastering them..to me its everything thats wrong with his game...but dont mind me, im just being redundant...while we post losing seasons, and decreasing qb performance.....but Im physched..lets go kill some birds

It all comes down to clutch performance imo, and players that struggle in that area, struggle no matter how good their surrounding cast is, look at Dalton, lots of regular season wins and good stats, big games stats wise and so forth, but when he's actually been in important/playoff games he sucks, despite being surrounded by talent on both sides of the ball, nerves gets the better of him, it's about the situation the player is in, not who's on his team.

I don't think Tanne is as bad as Dalton in those situations, Dalton just completely comes apart, Tanne goes into a shell, but the problem is the same, the moment is too big for them, so even if we put together a Cincy like team, if Tanne is going to go into his shell in those same situations your not going to win much in those situations because you're playing quality teams.

I have to see Tanne rise to the occasion in these situations before I believe in him, and I think the same goes for the FO, hence the 2 year buyout in his contract.

Why isnt Dalton just one of those "any qb can play behind a great oline" kinda QBs. Hes never not played behind a great line.

What Ive heard in here is..."Well yeh...anyone could be a great QB behind a great line and a running game" Daltons always had that..sooooo?

Also way to early to say that about Mariotta man, I like him alot as well..but Im not ranking him vs veteran QBs till hes got a full season under him

Bottom line you aren't winning any superbowls with a crappy defense and a pitiful oline. Not Brady, not Rodgers, not brees, not Marino. The qbs who win consistently have talent around them and that is due to the organization and the gm. Most people don't understand the impact of the oline. It's not sexy, you don't have any on your fantasy football team, you cant discuss the position because most fans are clueless when I comes to that part of the game. But when you talk to the pros, the gms, the players, they understand how true old cliches like "the game is won in the trenches" are

None of them jumped tannehill. Dalton will have to get to the super bowl to jump tannehill with the talent around him. The other three are a joke

Again. Chill on Derek Carr. He wasn't special last season. The league is full of guys who have one great year. If he continues this trend for a couple seasons, then let's talk. At this point, he's showing what Tannehill has shown: behind a good oline, he can put up numbers.

I dunno...I liked him a lot last year, saw some (what I thought was obvious) potential, he made some very good throws mid-deep in a few Raiders games I watched, and didn't seem to rattle too easily. I told my cousin (Raiders fan) last year that I thought they were set at QB for a while. Kid's a gamer.

Rodgers and Big Ben regularly have bad offensive lines. And both QBs WIN. Stop with the excuses.

No OL and no defense you are probably right. That doesn't mean Tannehill cannot be judged, criticized, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you part of the group arguing that Wins and Losses are not on the QB, is not an actual stat, and therefor doesn't really count to a QB's value.

But now you are claiming that his ranking in accordance with Tannehill is dependent on Dalton having to "win" at least two playoff games.

One win would probably entail going against a team with a defense that is ranked #1 in fewest points per game, fewest yards per game, fewest passing yards per game, fewest yards allowed per pass, second in opposing team's QB rating (73.3), 4th in fewest rushing yards per game, 2nd in fewest rushing yards per attempt along with a QB that has just about every single season and career record there is for QBs.

The other win would more than likely have to be against perhaps the greatest dynasty the NFL has seen with perhaps the greatest QB of all-time (for those of us that actually think wins and losses are a reflection of the QB). All this in order to be ranked ahead of a QB that has never led his team to a winning record, let alone playoffs.

You either have the most perplexing logic or take some of the most potent hallucinogenics.

Yeah, he might be. He did average only 5.5 yards per attempt last season, though. I'm just saying, it's another season, where some other teams QB is looking good, and the grass-is-greener fans start crowning him as better than ours. Recent years have also been Matt Flynn and Nick Foles.

This year apparently it's Dalton, Carr, and Mariota.

You're wrong. He's saying that the Bengals are stacked, and that with all that talent, if the Bengals can't make the playoffs, that Dalton hasn't jumped Tannehill. Clearly he's saying that all the talent around Dalton is a very large part of the success being attributed to Dalton.

How can someone not when looking at their skill sets.

And then taking into account their age. When Tannehill was Winston and Mariotta's age he was a backup QB in college and when Carr's age Tannehill had thrown 12 TD to 13 int vs. 40 TD to 16 int for Carr.

Only obvious to someone with a like mind as his.

    Alright, I'm wrong about what...

That he isn't part of the group claiming that Wins and Losses don't count against the QB, aren't a stat, and don't determine the value of a QB, but now is claiming that Dalton has to win two playoff games to be considered better than Tannehill?

Or that one win wouldn't be against the team with probably the best defense in the league this year with a QB that holds most single-season and career passing records?

Or that one win wouldn't be against perhaps the greatest dynasty in the NFL with perhaps the greatest QB of all-time?

Or that Tannehill hasn't led his team to a winning record, let alone the playoffs?

I think they have had enough playing time to at least take a peak.

    Ryan Tannehill

College...Freshman: Backup; Sophmore: Backup; Junior: Backup / Started 6 games = 5-1 as starter, team finished ranked 19[SUP]th[/SUP] in AP Poll; Senior: 7-6 as starter, team finished unranked

Team record as a starter: 12-7; Bowl Games (1-1)

    College Stats:
    484-774 (62.5%), 5450 yards (7.0 YPA), 42 TD – 21 int = 134.2 QB rating

Pro...Miami record previous year to being drafted = 2011: 6-10

    Record as Starter:
    2012: 7-9 (No Playoffs)
    2013: 8-8 (No Playoffs)
    2014: 8-8 (No Playoffs)
    2015: 3-5

Team Record as Starter: 26-30 (0-0 in Playoffs)

    Career Stats: 1,221-1,961 (62.3%), 13,489 (6.88 YPA), 80 TD – 51 int = 84.7 QB rating

    Game Winning Drives = 5

    Andy Dalton

College...Freshman: 8-5, team finished unranked; Sophmore: 11-2, team finished ranked 7[SUP]th[/SUP] AP Poll; Junior: 12-1, team finished ranked 6[SUP]th[/SUP] AP Poll; Senior: 13-0, team finished ranked 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] AP Poll

Team record as starter: 44-8; Bowl Games 3-1

    College Stats: 812-1317 (61.7%), 10,314 Yards (7.8 YPA), 71 TD – 30 int = 140.7 QB rating

Pro...Cincinnati record previous year to being drafted = 4-12

    Record as Starter:
    2011: 9-7 (lost in WC)
    2012: 10-6 (lost in WC)
    2013: 11-5 (lost in WC)
    2014: 10-5-1 (lost in WC)
    2015: 8-0

Overall Record as Starter: 48-23-1 (0-4 in playoffs)

    Career Stats:
    1,475-2,369 (62.3%), 16,984 Yards (7.17 YPA), 117 TD – 70 int = 88.0 QB rating

    Game Winning Drives = 16

For me, at this point, I would take the player who has a combined (college and pros) 92-31-1 record (3-1 in Bowl Games; 0-4 in Playoffs) with 16 GWD in the NFL over the guy who has a combined 38-37 record (1-1 in Bowl Games; 0-0 in Playoffs) with 5 GWD in the NFL...regardless of who the players around him are.

No. That's not what I meant. Tanne hasn't yet come close to Dalton. Maybe...maybe he can string together several good years and Dalton will eventually string together some ****ty seasons. At this point, the difference is so stark that it shouldn't be worthy of a debate. That's my point.

The bengals had the 4th easiest schedule to date. From this week on they have the easiest schedule. Even the dolphins made the playoffs when they had a schedule that weak.
