Do you take him? He's not far removed from a good season and I honestly think he will shine again in a system that suits him. You guys think he's worth a shot if he were to land in our laps?

Dude is unhappy and the 49ers would have to get rid of him someway somehow.

I dunno i'd cough up a 2nd rounder for him... i mean given that whoever takes over the team doesnt believe Tannehill is the answer

Hell no. Not even as a backup at a reasonable price tag. I want no part of that circus.

I would not give up a pick for him. Definitely not under his current contract. I would take him as a FA for no more than they are paying Moore.

Exactly, Tannehill can't hit a deep ball, Kaepernick can't hit the broad side of a barn on most throws lately

Wouldn't even consider it. He would not start over Tanny in my opinion. Too much of a distraction as a no2. Plus the NFL has figured him out. I suspect back up city for him from here on till end of career

Kaepernick will have better options than the Dolphins after this season. I can see him being in a Jets uniform next year, but not in a Dolphin uniform.

Been a big fan of Tannehill since we drafted him, but Im no longer sold on the guy. Especially this year he looks to be regressing since he signed a big contract. Looks and plays scared, doesn't scramble, constantly misses players and now they lose to a 2-7 team at home...

Why would we want a worse QB than we have now?

I'd trade Tannehill for a 2nd, and draft a QB with our 1st. Then Draft either 2 OL in the 2nd or 1 OL 1 LB/CB/RB(especially if we lose Miller in FA)

I wouldn't take Kap, but we need to seriously start thinking about how to get a better QB. It's not easy, but we gotta start. This is the first year I think you can say Tannehill isn't improving across the board. Some things he's better at (he's got better touch on some balls), but in many others he's stayed stagnant (decision-making the biggest one) or regressed (consistency is statistically far worse this year than before).

We definitely need QB competition next year in camp. Tannehill's under contract for next year and it's hard cap-wise to get rid of him in 2016, but he MUST have serious competition in camp. I'm more and more leaning towards drafting one in the top 3 rounds (really hate to say it but I'm tipping more towards finding a replacement now than before).

If we could trade Tannehill for a second, I think I'd be on board with using our first on a QB, then 2nd round oline, etc, like posted earlier in the thread.

btw.. OV showed something today. I think we need to see more over the rest of the year but if he plays like he did today more consistently, DE is not as dire as once thought (which helps dramatically in draft scenarios.. we can pick a DE that might need more grooming than one that can start day 1).

No. There is something to way he lost the locker room and his ability to play in the span of one year. Something is wrong with him, I don't think he's a starter in the league anymore.

It's not an argument, its a known fact :(

Not saying to go for it based on that alone but man if someone like that has proven that they can do it at this level how do you say no if the circumstances are correct.

Given his current resume I doubt we'd even get a 4th for Tannehill

Right now, there are probably only a half dozen teams in the league who would even be interested in trading for Tannehill.
I think all the teams with elite QB's or young QB's would take their QB over Tannehill and not even think twice about it.

In fact if you offered the Chiefs Tannehill for Smith, even up. I have no doubt the Chiefs would have zero interest in that trade.

Not a fan of thill but I really think Lazer is handicapping him. He shows flashes of good and then the OL or the play calling just goes to poop. Remember the first drive today? Miller ran it for like 49 yards on 3 or 4 carries and then Lazer happened. He's awful.

How is trading Tannehill for a 2nd unrealistic? He's inside the top 15 of starting QBs. I have no doubt there is some GM or HC out there of the 32 teams that one wouldn't jump on the opportunity to take him and try and improve him, or build around him.

Would Houston Texans trade for Tannehill? Tannehill > Hoyer

Cleveland, Oakland, Kansas City, Washington, Chicago, Detroit just some teams off the top of my head that would consider such a trade for an upgrade at a critical position.

I would take RG3 before i'd ever consider Kaepernick lol. Honestly i'd rather look at some of the vets available. Jacoby Brissett and Christian Hackenburg I like in the 2-3 round of the draft. We need a shakeup at QB, but Kaepernick is not that gut.

I'm ready to move on from Tannehill too but the answer certainly isn't Kaepernick. Like RG3 the NFL has figured him out. His success was temporary. Plus he has a big contract like Tannehill.

Take Oakland off that list, they have a young guy in Carr who they like. And unless Chicago wants Tannehill as a backup, I do not see them being interested either. They'll likely not want to repeat the whole Cutler experience. I can see the other teams you listed having some interest.

Another scenario would be for a team like the Cardinals to take Tannehill for a late 2nd and keep him under Palmer's wings until his contract runs out. That would be great for Tannehill as well, he'll have a much better coaching staff and less burden placed on him.

EDIT: Didn't take into account Tannehill's contract... no way would a team trade for him to leave him on the bench, so no, that second scenario is unrealistic.
