link Seems Henne is working with the 1st teams this week. I wish the guy luck; somebody HAS to win the QB position. I'd prefer it to be the rookie, because that'll mean he's amazing considering rookie QB's almost-always do not play well enough to earn a starting position. Unfortunately, I think the Beck experiment at least for this season isn't going to work. According to Omar Kelly on 790AM this morning (thank god for internet streaming, if not I'd blow my brains out living overseas), the FO is bringing in Quincy Carter not to have him start, that would be ludicrous. Carter is here to compete against John Beck! If Beck cannot outperform Carter, then his tenure at the Miami Dolphins will be over. So all the best to the Michigan Man. May he be more impressive than Colt Brennan was last night.
?? all 3 QBs guys have been rotating with the 1st teams the whole time... it was a sled blocking drill, doesn't mean hes lining up with them all the time... and its not the first time hes lined up with the 1sts...
Man alive I realize it was the third team but it is all relative. Out of all the third teamers on the field he was the best player. I was very impressed and believe he will have a place in the NFL. Jason Campbell impressive as well though.
Henne's always been a fast study; if he's really working with the first team all week, best of luck to him.
I would be surprised if we started the season with a rookie QB, even if he was the most prepared. If we did, that would speak volumes IMO about how bad the other two QBs were.
How does this..... A QB lining up with the 1st team for simlpe blocking drills one morning...... . turn into this?
I don't know that it is ever a good idea to throw a rookie QB into the fray from day one. Sorry, bro.
THe difference is that there is nothing even hinting at a decision has been made for Henne to be working with the 1st team all week. He's lining up with them as they work on blocking. Henne's a dummy standing there in blocking drills. They could put the punter at QB for that. There's your difference.
OK, now I'm confused. Was Henne out there just during blocking drills or running the offense and making plays. Too much spinning going on here for people's personal favorites.
I think Sparano is still doing the two up, one down rotations for QBs and, for this morning and for this blocking drill, Henne is "up".
So Omar Kelly, a guy with a huge bias against Beck is reporting the Carter is coming to Miami simply to compete with Beck... Imagine that... Like the FO would actually tell that hack something like that.
I don't know if people don't know how to read or just choose not to, but today's thing has been written by Ben Volin, not Omar Kelly. so I don't know why so many people keep talking about Omar.
Can't we just let the QB that performs the best win the job? Why does it have to be Beck? I've never seen a player who has done so little endear himself to so many.
I would like to introduce myself, I'm kettle, have we met? I am in the choose not to category apparently.
Did anyone say they didn't want the best QB to win the job? It dosen't have to be Beck and the reason people defend him so much is because he's been deemed as a bust by so many on here. There are a lot of smart fans on here and they realize the folly of projecting such a young player as a bust this early in their career. Thats it plain and simple.
Exactly. Like I said in the Club Level, I'll gladly admit that I'm a fan of Beck and want him to win this job but if he can't beat out the other competitors, take a seat. I'll support whoever starts for this team. As for the Omar report, are you serious? That has to be false. Peele is not doing himself any favors sitting on the sideline. I think he will be cut. Too much money to be a backup and Martin has reportedly improved his blocking. Doesn't look good for Mauia. First the report that he would be cut in a short time, now he's dropping balls. Could he be on the way out? I'm glad to hear. Hopefully this continues. Glad to hear about Camarillo and McCown.
I am so sick of this idea that we are Beck homers. Look, I don't know how to say it any clearer. It is not that some of us want beck to win the job, it is that we want reporters who are objective and spin free. This attempt to skew the debate to one of us wanting Beck over anyone regardless of actual performance on the feild is an attempt to aviod the real issue. The real issue is, can we please have accurate, informative, unbiased reporting? In the case of some of the reporters, my view is no! Stop avoiding the isssue. Are some of the Miami based media biased against some of the players?
I also would not expect Carter to sign with the Fins, it would be a desperate move on our part that would blow up. I would expect when Chris Simms gets released around labor day for us to put a claim on him.
I don't think that's necessarily true. First of all, Henne was this regime's guy. Secondly, Henne has a huge advantage as far as rookie QB's go thanks to his experience at Michigan. Played every game from day 1 and played against top teams and players from the country. And yes I know it's still a different ball game in the NFL but I would think it has to be beneficial for him in some form.
