At least they are in the top 5 of their own conference, let alone the nation.

So you don't think UT is a top 5 team in the SEC?

Wouldn't that make them a darkhorse then?

Man, i was going through ESPNs big ten blog, and PSU keeps ranking pretty highly (top 3) in all the categories (o-line, d-line, WRs, RBs). I can't imagine us finishing higher than 3 unless the new QB plays out of his mind, and Sean Lee will be hard to replace.

But I may very well just call PSU my Big Ten darkhorse. :shifty:

Funny thing was Wisconsin's group of RBs was rated higher than Ohio States.

IGN did a NCAA season simulation and had Wisconsin going undefeated and winning the Big 10. Then again they had Florida beating Tennessee in the SEC Championship game, which is impossible since they are both in the East, on top of that the SEC Champ wasn't in a BCS game. :pity:

Don't be jealous, they didn't say Wells was the 2nd best back in the Big Ten (I am pretty sure they listed him 1st, but I will check), just that collectively Wisconsin's backfield is better (ie if each teams top back goes down, Wisky has the least drop off in talent).

True but with Ohio St's O-line I'm sure the back ups could produce solid. They wouldn't have the home run threat but they could still pound it.

The Vols are going down hill. For some reason they have not been recruiting like they had in the past. I really don't see them winning anything. They are probably fighting for 3rd in SEC East with South Carolina

Am I correct in assuming he had USC #1 or #2?
Funny thing is that I really like his football analysis. However, I hate his team rankings, etc. He's so predictable and never right. Not to mention I'll never forgive him for partaking in that steaming pile of **** that ESPN did a few years back comparing the USC team (that still hadn't played in the Nat'l Championship game) to the great Champs of the recent past. Texas winning that game was nearly as good as UF winning.

The thing of it is Tennessee could very well finish 3rd in the East and be one of the Top 10 teams in the country.

That is also true. I also could see Tennessee beating Georgia if they can stop Moreno. That's a big if tho. The Vols just don't match up with Florida well.

If there's a dark horse it's the Texas Longhorns. With Will Muschamp their defense should improve and Colt McCoy should play better now with more experience. The Big 12 is pretty touch with Oklahoma, Texas Tech, & Mizzou all fielding very good squads & if Texas can survive undefeated, I'd look for them to take it all.

And I like Miami's chances in the ACC. IF they get lucky with injuries and the QB situation doesn't implode upon itself, then they can challenge for the ACC crown.

Thats a pretty bold statement with all the youth and inexperience they have. I think they will improve from last year but I'm not so sure they will be challenging for the crown. Clemson and VT will both be very good this season.

I agree. From reports and scouting news they had a solid recruit class last yr as well as this one but expect alot of freshmen etc. to have to play big minutes.

If Marve steps up we have a good shot at the ACC championship game. VT is good but not great. Losing Ore and their top returning WR was a blow. Virginia has lost so many players they may need to go to 1-AA for a year.

Throw in a favorable conference schedule with FSU, VT, and UNC all at home. 9-10 wins is not out of the question. Next year we win the ACC and 2010 we should be in the NC hunt.

    Oh stop...lol.

Miami isnt all THAT bad and with a weak Conference anything is possible. Clemson has a one, or two yr window, after that who knows.

lol Miami won't win the ACC. They don't have a QB and until they do there just a medicore team. I think FSU has a better chance at the ACC.

Tennessee? Yeah, OKAY. Tennessee has as good as a chance as Michigan does to win the National Championship. AKA, not gonna happen and not even gonna come close! There are three, maybe four other teams in the SEC that are better than Tenneseee.

    Florida.
    Georgia.
    LSU.
    Auburn maybe.

That is a fair assessment because the Vols have been struggling recruitment wise but what people forget is that this past year they were two stupid Ainge interceptions away for beating the eventual National Champion LSU Tigers.

If the Vols keep their heads on straight they can wind the SEC...but its always a toss up.

    Agreed.

True Florida is the Vols kryptonite.

The Vols stopped McFadden this past year (well enough to win the game). So they can do the same to Moreno.

Totally disagree. Yes I would also rate Florida, Georgia, and LSU ahead of Tennessee because of the fact that I'm not sure if the Vols can keep their heads in the game. However I think they can as this year they don't have the usual pressure on the team. With that relaxed attitude they can beat any of those teams.

South Carolina and Alabama were both I believe 7-6 last year (SC may have been 6-6) so there is no reason to believe they are better than Tennessee. Also I don't think Auburn is up to par.

In the end its the SEC and whoever is the favorite will probably not get it because any team can get beat any week. The winner of the SEC will probably have 2 losses, IMO.
