A new QB can't make it look any worse than it has been. 0-6 in the division this year (unless you expect them to win against NE, LOL) and in all probability 8 games under .500 over a 4 year period under Tannehill. Can't get worse. We can blame the coaches, we can blame the scheme, we can blame the multiple OC's, we can blame everyone under the sun, but the QB is untouchable to the very few of you left holding on to irrational hope.
I'm not sure exactly what your complaint is, here in re: to Tannehill. You handcuff and stage manage him in totally bizarre and self destructive ways where you are almost engineering ways to have to trust him. Bill Lazor shouldn't just be fired, he needs to be defenestrated.
I agree. We haven't coached up anybody since Philbin got here. Who has our coaching staff developed? They've either been good since they were drafted or never made much progress. But damn, this guy should've learned to audible in college at least, right? Learned about protections, calling routes, stuff like that, right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I didn't know they had advanced cryogenics to the point where you could be frozen for decade plus, but you have a tremendous amount of Dolphins history to catch up on
No one, literally no one, is saying Tannehill is untouchable. The argument has always been that Tannehill wasn't the biggest issue. He may be now, but hard to say, with the oline he has. He just isn't showing anything, though. Hence I've been a proponent of seeing what Moore does in the offence right now.
I'm sorry but you have this way about you where you think you sound intelligent but really aren't saying much. The coaching staff might be limiting him but maybe he's just not capable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wasn't getting at that. I've always said he's mediocre and needs to improve on quite a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why are you working under the assumption that the coaching staff is doing their due diligance when we have a huge amount of evidence to the contrary? I mean, your quarterback coaches greatest qualification is that he is ****ing Mike Sherman's daughter.
I understand. Nepotism is a bad way to run a business. But he's had every coach around him fired. Lazor is next. There's gotta be some blame on the guy eventually. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's exactly what I'm talking about. Very condescending. Big ego for no reason. Keep patting yourself on the back. I understood what you said. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are working backwards from an opinion on Tannehill and totally unwilling to meaningfully discuss any of the reasons why. Do you have an argument why the the Damien Williams hit was on Tannehill? Why it wasn't a pre-snap read? Anything at all?
I've already explained what the argument is. The play stood no chance. He ran it anyway. Long throws to the outside don't work when your offense isn't in a rhythm and you're constantly throwing behind the line of scrimmage or running outside. It wasn't even like the DB had been biting on those plays. He just sat back and waited for the long throw to get outside and nail him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In that bunch of words that allegedly didn't mean anything you apparently missed the part where I noted that it almost certainly wasn't Tannehills decision to make. In this offense there are a bunch of plays that are for all intents and purposes binary- you throw a screen based on a pre-snap read or positioning of a defender. The decision is wholly a numbers game- if there are two DBs on a side you do "X", if three "Y". That was almost certainly one of them. Opposing defenses for all intents and purposes know how to bait the team into these situations because they run them over and over and over. Chip Kelly has a bunch of counters and tricks to keep defenses from cheating, they change up what the reads are, etc. Bill Lazor artlessly imitates this and opposing defenses are all over these tendencies. So the very simple, non-technical short version is it isn't a choice Tannehill has and teams know what to expect
Yet we still don't know if he can't fully audible because he's simply incapable or the coaches don't trust him when they should. Based on his decision making I'm gonna go with the former. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Next time someone tries to judge a QB on "numbers" look no further than this game. Ryan ended up with 350 and 3Tds...and he played pretty mediocre.
An audible doesn't even remotely enter into it. If it's a sort of packaged play, it has a built in audible of sorts- you shouldn't have to audible. Even if it isn't a packaged play it really didn't even look like the kind of thing that you audible out of, the defender didn't really seem to make it obvious pre-snap he was on to it. Why would he?
That's right. That's why I always say stats without the play by play or tape is meaningless. His backup center was garbage but there were so many missed opportunities and a couple of turnovers on him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We also had every opportunity to set the tone early with our first three drives beyond the 40 and came up with a big fat zero.
I just said why. You don't throw screens or long throws outside unless the defense is biting and being overly aggressive ESPECIALLY when your offense has zero rhythm. We didn't start to do well until we stopped running plays outside and behind the line of scrimmage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yup. I remember at one point a commentator said their worst starting position was at the 40. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Then the blame goes to Lazor for calling that play. That's what he's saying, dan. Tannehill can only audible to a different variation, if the defense tips it's hat that they know what's coming. They didn't, so the play gets run as called by Lazor.
He wants to show you he knows big boy words to make you feel inferior. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I get that. But Tannehill is 4 years in and he can't fully audible. I'm not gonna say Lazor should trust him to do so because of his decision making. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He should be able to call protections and diagnose blitzes sometimes. Didn't we just read an article the other day that mentioned Griese saying Tannehill is terrible at diagnosing the blitz? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The fumble goes on his lack of vision, the pass rush came right up the middle, from Wilkerson I believe, but Tanne just doesn't see him.
Why do you think that is? I tend to trust pro players like Faulk when I quoted him and now Griese. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, I'm saying he needs to learn to read the defense, call protections and audibles. There's nothing contradictory whatsoever. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
