And that 1st round alcoholic QB did better in the same exact position as our 1st round QB at Texas A&M. How do you like that? Before everybody jumps all over me for saying that, I understand that the college game is different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I couldn't agree more...Manziel has all the intangibles absent in Tannehill. To me, those intangibles are internal qualities (clutch, winner, competitive beyond belief, leader) that Tannehill won't be able to learn to the degree to be a franchise type QB. In the meantime let's just keep shuffling HCs and OCs. In fairness it wasn't like Manziel was a freshman taking over from Tannehill when he was a senior or that A&M moved to the SEC in that transition year...oh, wait, never mind.
Have you read Campbells comments today? I think it's pretty clear in reading them, Bill wasn't doing what he was asked to do by Campbell. The offense represented nothing that Campbell wanted it to be, and said it would be. It's one of the reasons Lazor is gone today. As for Sherman, Tannehill had more freedom then, he could audible at least. I think you have to remember with Sherman, Tannehill was a rookie, and extremely raw at the QB position, so, certainly there were some training wheels there, and rightfully so. Either way though, I'm not sure how we got back to Ryan, because, I said... if you leave the QB and his play out of it, then try and evaluate the head coach, and his OC/DC that you are saying Ryan Tannehill has gotten fired... What exactly did any of those coaches do, that would lead us to believe they were sacked by an ineffective QB, and not their own incompetence? We all know Ryan, and this offense aren't playing well, that's not even debatable any longer. But to say he's getting these guys fired, is a bit crazy IMO, since none of these guys have really shown that they are anything more than mediocre as coaches. Philbin still couldn't manage a game clock and use of timeouts. The team is undisciplined. The team is inconsistent in all 3 areas/ They've always been mentally weak. They've always lacked execution and technique. Lazor never had a feel for the game, never adjusted, especially after the league caught on to his schemes. Coyle wouldn't ever adapt either. There was never really much player growth. We still see situations here of players doing nothing here, leaving, and becoming better players. Our staff, has always been the bottom of the barrel, and it's one of the main reasons why we are, where we are.
I joined to post that you're right. Once a QB has started for 4 years and has been given weapons, he should succeed or show clear upward signs of success. If you give any true franchise QB the same weapons and years we have given Tannehill, they succeed (or else they're not franchise QBs). That's where we are with Tannehill: he's not a franchise QB. Tannehill can't throw a good enough deep ball; he doesn't handle pressure well enough; he doesn't see the blitz well enough; and he isn't good enough without pressure to make up for the other faults. He isn't a former #1 pick with a rocket arm. His potential is capped. I want him gone. Mike Glennon and Geno Smith are both better than Tannehill.
Let's not go overboard here. Geno Smith SUCKS. Way worse than Tannehill, even if Tannehill isn't a franchise QB.
I understand that. I'm saying Campbell hasn't done anything to influence change. We shouldn't keep him if he can't influence change aside from demanding it. We can demand that. I'm saying not everybody is meant to coach in the NFL but Sherman was worthy. He was much better than Lazor although maybe he felt he had to limit Tannehill. He should've taken more of a chance and let Tannehill audible and use his legs more and of course the legs of our RBs. I've already said this. Philbin was just a moron, so was Coyle. But Sherman wasn't. Heck, Rodgers got Philbin hired here, put it that way. At the very least Tannehill could've kept Sherman around, a guy who was his coach in college that didn't trust him and a former HC of the Packers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wow, you joined this forum because of a post I made? Thanks for the compliment. I completely agree. On top of that he doesn't make use of his athleticism, doesn't scramble, and just doesn't make enough big plays. His YPA is surprisingly high this year at 18th. Take away those amazing games with all that YAC when Campbell took over and it's more in line with previous years. It was 28th, 27th and 22nd in 2014,13,12 respectively. I'm not too sure about Geno even though he had a perfect QBR against us once and eliminated us from the playoffs IIRC but I felt Glennon should've been given more time or given a chance elsewhere at least. I can list out who I'd take ahead of Tannehill in no particular order and he'd definitely be at the bottom half of starting QBs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How was he terrible? Tannehill was raw as can be, we had Ochocinco, Egnew, Hartline, Bess, Wallace, Bush. Jesus dude, what did you expect? At least he ran a pro style offense. I liked Hartline, for the record, but he always seemed to fall down after a catch lol. He caught a bad break with Ireland, Philbin and a raw Tannehill who he didn't trust even in college. He wasn't amazing but he wasn't bad either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Terrible may be a stretch, He had a 57-39 record as a Head Coach when he had Brett Favre, he improved the Texans offense from 28th to 14th his first season as the OC, he made the Aggies respectable again. He also chose to take the position at the High School, for personal reasons. He could've easily found a job in the pro's or college. So asking "where is he now" isn't really fair.
Where is he now? If he was good, he'd have caught on somewhere. I don't remember what the complaints were two or three years ago, but I remember not liking Sherman. Didn't he run some stupid tells on the snap that we figured out meant run or pass?
Must be Henning because Sherman is a very capable offensive mind and numerous college teams would have gladly taken him on. Henning on the other hand was stubborn and outdated. I still want to vomit thinking about how he would never get Henne out of the 4 wide QB under center with an empty backfield while teams would simply blitz the A and B gaps and Henne was on his *** before he finished his drop backs. He never adjusted, he kept calling that formation despite the constant failures. Just another example of how an OC can help or in this case hurt the OL's ability. Yea, F--- Dan Henning.
Yeah, I remember something about that. I mostly remember Tannehill being super raw and having not so great targets. His first TD pass was to Fasano. His top WR was Hartline. Bess was the slot receiver. Later he was forced to throw to Wallace because of Ireland. Reggie Bush was a fumble machine. Sherman was such an old school, pro style offense type of guy, we had a freaking FB nicknamed Butterball (or maybe that was just my dad and I). Imagine if we kept Marshall, had a power runner and stuck to an under center, pro style offense, stuck with our 3-4 defense and continued to build from there. Our defense was actually good back then and could've easily improved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Honestly, Sherman was probably the better of the two between him and Lazor. Hated the whole Go (pass), Go Go (run), thing though.
Dude, it's not cool to call posters out and this ban thing is really pathetic. I remember this **** from yesterday and the day before. All of this: "You're banned" "I'm putting you on ignore", "I'm going to tell the mods" BS! Man up and just don't read nor respond to posters you don't like. IMO, for some to start acting like a bunch of little school girls is pathetic.
Agreed. They should have stuck with the 3-4 that Sparano-Ireland had left them and focused on improving the offense.
Too bad we'll never know what that defense with Dion Jordan looks like. We would've been so deep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Some of that is correct but other controls are put in place for a reason. Using the ignore feature is a way to basically tell someone I don't want to interact with you. Threatening to tell mods (just report the post) or bragging that you did is childish and inflammatory
What about Johnny Manziel? I mean he'd be low risk higj reward at this point right? I imagine he wouldn't cost much at all...late pick? Look i'm not one calling for Tannehill to be replaced the way a lot of you are. I've asked repeatedly who would be a viable replacement for him and aside from Paxton fkn Lynch who I don't think will be any good, nobody has given me any names lol. Now Manziel in south beach sounds like disaster but I think he'd be worth a look....if he's sober. Other names (excluding college QBs) Robert Griffin iii BJ Daniels (Seahawks backup) Mike Glennon EJ Manuel AJ McCarron Landry Jones Matt Mcgloin Any of these names worth bringing in to compete and possibly unseat Tannehill? Options are slim for the Tannehill haters that want him gone immediately. I for one am all about giving him a fifth season, but he's on a short leash at this point.
Yeah I figured that, I even wrote it up there, if you read it you would know that you Neanderthal baboon jackass. I specifically said....Manziel in south beach would probably be a disaster, then I followed it up with "if he was sober", but instead you respond with a stupid *** meme instead of answering the question. SMH, READING IS FUNDAMENTAL.
Yeah it's hilarious that a grown up can't read properly hahahahaha. "BRUH, BRUH" sad that the intelligence level of people has been reduced to "BRUH".
It perfectly summed up the ridiculousness of your Jerry Jones-esque idea, even with the zany caveat of "if he stayed sober". The rewards don't outweigh the risks and the allure of the problems South Beach life present a dipsh*t like Manziel.
you Neanderthal baboon jackass you Neanderthal baboon jackass you Neanderthal baboon jackass you Neanderthal baboon jackass you Neanderthal baboon jackass you Neanderthal baboon jackass
Interesting as many people on this board beat the drum for both RG-Me and Manziel. Sometimes a change of scenery does work. Falcons couldn't wait to dump Favre and his issues back in 92. Holmgren cleaned him up, got him sober and finally off Vicodin. If clean, some team will be interested in Manziel and it could pan out for them. If Tbaum and Hickey stick to drafting BPA, they very well could end up drafting another QB in any round depending on their board, though given our needs, I'd be surprised if that were to happen before the 5th.
Green Bay is nothing like Miami though, nor does this franchise have the proper support system and leadership in place.
I've always said I would've never drafted the guy because I believe in rebuilding teams before handing the keys over to young QBs if you don't have a solution at QB. That being said, I've advocated for McCarron and would gladly trade Tannehill to a team for as low as a third round pick and a decent player then flip a low rounder for him and cash (or is that just an NBA thing?).
