Speaking of Lazor, look at this absolute garbage That's the interception. It was a bad decision by Tannehill to throw that ball. However, it's 3rd and ****ing 8 and THREE of the four receivers are SIX WHOLE YARDS short of the 1st down marker. And all four receivers are on the same section of the field. Naturally Tannehill tries to force it to the one guy past the sticks. Should have thrown it away, but this is why people have been *****ing about the scheme.
exactly. I would rather build a team with top notch talent and coaching in every facet of the game, where I could plug in a good qb(top 7-10 range) and keep a constant winning team for years and years.betting it all with going from elite qb to elite qb is playing russian roulette, its what led the dolphins to where they are now. going from favre to rodgers is rare, but if tom brady went down tomorrow, that team is still going to win 11 or 12 games due to the all around talent on the team and the coaching(and cheating. we could have dan marino II on this ****ing team and we are still going nowhere, the coaching has been awful for the dolphins for what 2 decades now? we draft talent but they are never developed and usually instead of growing and developing they stagnate, get cut(or traded) to go onto productive careers, its not a mystery why players lose their ****tiness when they leave miami.
You've also said Tannehill would annihilate teams if he started for NE. Tannehill does nothing to take pressure off the running game. Teams would just focus on Lynch and Rawls without any worry in the world about scrambling, running or deep bombs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I could get behind Tannehill if this would work. I love it when QBs play under center. Love blocking tight ends. Love fullbacks. He has chemistry with Stills now so his deep ball is a lot better for now. I'm still very worried about his pocket presence and inability to scramble. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Perfect example of why he's fired. I argued this with everyone in the game thread Sunday. It wasn't the greatest pass, but the playcall makes it irrelevant. Stills was covered pretty good anyways. It was a force, to at least try and get the first down. It's absolutely ridiculous. Personally, I'm starting to think Lazor wanted to get fired. I mean, why are you calling this crap? Why are you staying in shot gun with a guy who can't snap the ball? Ridiculous. plays like this, happened multiple times last week, and the last few as well. People can complain all you want about passes short of the sticks on third down, but this is a good example of what's happening a great deal of the time. Not saying it's every time, but, when you've only got one guy down the field, what the hell else do you do? You either force it to the only guy who has a chance, or you throw to one of the 3 guys one yard from the LOS.
Cmon guys. It's one picture out of 58 pass attempts. We know the OL isn't good and the QB struggles evading pressure. We know the Jets are prone to blitzing in long yardage situations and that a sack in that spot could push them out of FG range.
I see what I've seen all along the difference is this is year 4 and I'm not seeing much if any improvement. You've been calling for him to use his legs since I can remember, I've tried to be patient but it's wearing thin.
Probably, but I'm pretty sure most NFL fans thought Flacco was a "franchise QB" after he won the Superbowl. Their team sucks this year though despite having a "franchise QB" which just goes to show what a team game this sport truly is. I've definitely lost some faith in Tannehill this year due to his s**** play, but does that mean we should give up on him or try and cut him after next year? If he continues to suck then yes, we probably should, but it's not something we should be expecting to happen or looking forward to. I for one believe Tannehill is good enough to win with, with a solid team around him (like most QB's) so imo we should patient before discarding him. Like many Washington fans are saying about Cousins right now, is he a "franchise" QB who knows, but one thing they know for damn sure is it's a pretty bleak QB market out there so logically it makes to try and stick with what you got and build a better team around him. That's the approach I hope and believe our FO is taking with Tannehill, rather than rushing to judgement like so many of our fans are doing unwisely imo.
Kirk Cousins doesn't make any money, he's in the final year of a 4 year deal that was worth LESS than 3 mil in total, he makes like 700 thou this year.
People thought Flacco was a franchise QB because he performed well in the playoffs for years before he got hot and won it all. As for the argument that he doesn't perform well in the regular season, this is a serious question, is he clutch in big regular season games? Either way, the playoffs are so much more important than the regular season it's not even close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hate to disagree with you Piston, but that kind of play is run way too frequently... Even had Fouts and Gannon shaking their heads the last two weeks. People want to know why we throw short of the sticks a large % of the time.. That kind of play call plus abandoning the running game gives us NO CHANCE on offense! Even further problems, the DE has beat a double team(whiff by Cameron) and is ready to clobber RT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Zactly, Flacco carried that team to a SB victory that year, that's why he got paid, and he has always done well in clutch situations.
Too bad for them that means jack diddly in 2015, obviously. Football is the ultimate team game, if being a "clutch" QB is all that mattered the Ravens wouldn't be this bad. And btw, many people including myself and even a lot of Ravens fans find that contract to be a huge problem with the team, like how you feel about Suh.
Literally nobody said being a clutch QB (I don't know why you're placing quotes around it) is all that matters. At least Flacco earned it with his team after success in the playoffs for years. It just so happened that it culminated with a SB win at the same time his contract expired. I'd LOVE for Suh to be overpaid after earning us a SB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Because Wilson is better. Not much to be confused about. The problems Tanny face here, are similar to what Wilson faces. You might say "run game" but I'm not talking about team success just individual performances. Bad oline? Wilson has faced just as much pressure if not more at times. His line was depleted in 2013. Yes their coaching has taken advantage of his skill set. But Wilson doesn't sit back there like a pig waiting to be slaughtered. You know your line sucks. You don't sit there for two seconds you gotta take a look to your blind side or at least start creeping to the right. Nope. Statue. Oh, and Wilson's receiving options aren't superior to ours.
I never quoted anyone, just said it takes more than having a clutch QB to win because Finster points out how Flacco has done well in clutch situations. And you can say Flacco earned that contract and in the ultimate way he did, still doesn't mean it was the best decision for the football team. His contract was poorly set up and the main reason they have lost so many good players since that SB victory. And btw, watch Cousins get seriously paid this off-season because like I'm trying to tell you guys it's a bleak QB market right now so be happy with what you got. It's not likely to improve anytime soon in terms of the starter.
Oh no, I'm not defending that number in the contract. Honestly it was a Catch 22. Either you don't pay the guy enough and he threatens to leave or you overpay and hope you make the playoffs and he continues to do well. Everybody knows SB teams tend to lose players. It's the biggest reason why the salary cap is in place. The argument is about how much he's worth and the Ravens lacked bargaining power at that moment. I believe I recall a time when they could've extended him and avoided this issue. However, nobody knows if his play was influenced by the desire for a massive contract and if it did, how much. Honest question: Do they test for peripheral vision in the draft? I get the feeling Tanny's is bad hence some of the sacks he takes. Now, I don't blame him for taking the sack because the line is letting people in way too fast. But sometimes, it's as if he doesn't even see a guy that's right inside his vision. For example this past week, I'm not surprised Tanny is sacked. Wilkerson comes through and Tanny isn't the most elusive so he's not getting away. I'm surprised Tanny didn't see him and tried to get away. Like wtf? After this frame he doesn't react until the very end. See how Tanny is on the hash and Wilkerson's left foot is on the outside of the hash but his body is already leaning over. And this isn't isolated. I see it a lot. So it's either his peripheral vision is bad, has tunnel vision when focusing, or his reaction time is slower.
And I'm just pointing out that having a QB that has "always done well in clutch situations" means jack s*** if you have a s***** team around him. This team needs to improve as much as Tannehill needs to improve, and imo that all starts with getting a competent H.C. Also there's no better alternatives to RT in free agency like the Skins will soon find out with Cousins.
I'm not going to argue what you're saying, however, none of it makes Tanne any better than what he is, especially in clutch situations.
Sure, Wilson's greatest strength is Tannehill's biggest flaw. Let me ask though, how many games does Miami win with Wilson at QB?
Enough to earn us a wildcard spot, that's for sure. Tannehill has choked when he should've been able to do that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My personal opinion is the differential is at least +3 games. He's simply a better "situational" QB, based on his experience.
I've seen a lot of QBs struggle bc they are too focused on the rush and not reading the coverage, Tannehill might be the only QB I've seen do the opposite. He plays like he has a red no contact Jersey on at times.
He was looking to throw to a receiver. Unfortunately the receiver didn't break open and tanny took the sack. If the receiver had broken open he would have thrown it and taken the hit
There's a whole bunch of teams that have worse QB situations than ours looking into the future, like the entire NFC East for example. You say Tannehill is what he is and will never be a true franchise QB. I say outside of a small number of teams in the NFL, Tannehill is a better long term QB prospect than most teams have so lets focus on building the team around him rather than just complain about his shortcomings. It's not likely we find a better QB anytime soon so imo we should focus on his strengths, rather than his weaknesses and try to build on those. Like his athleticism for example, we really need to start moving this guy around.
I doubt testing for peripheral vision would help at all, unless the QB has none (a disease like glaucoma can lead to that). It's a concentration or attention issue. There are some great demonstrations of this. Maybe this video (gotta watch it to the end, and it tends to work for most people) might help demonstrate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJG698U2Mvo
I've seen Wilson, Romo, Brady, Big Ben and others avoid pressure like that by scrambling or stepping out of the way. It's not something I'd expect on a regular basis but he's terrible with pocket presence and scrambling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
