It's not outlandish, maybe an overly optimistic approach?? But thats okay.

Sorry, I'm not going to agree to disagree about the audible thing. You literally do not know any of the facts involved and are still claiming you know the answer. That is not ok.

Trade Tannehill for what we can after next season if he doesn't prove himself by then. We're on the hook for a lot of his salary next season, might as well use him until then.

I'd hold onto Moore and rebuild for a few seasons. If not that, McCarron for a third rounder, get a run first OC and a defensive minded HC. Somebody told me about Vic Fangio but I haven't looked into coaching prospects much at all yet.

    Ryan's QBR on 3rd down with 7-10 to go?? 83.5 61.2 comp %.....3rd 4-6??? 68.6 with a 50% Comp %.

It isn't hard to summarize why he is better on 3rd and 7-10 imo.

So I'm clear, me having a completely logical and rational view of what maybe going on is overly optimistic, but your view that Tannehill just sucks in the face of issues no QB you know has overcome is perfectly realistic? If we had a scale of 10 (being ridiculously optimistic) to -10 (being ridiculously negative) with 0 being realistic, I'm at a 1 and you're at -7.

Your opinion of plausible is flawed and one-sided. I have given months of reasons why I feel Ryan struggles and naturally a guy like you hangs his hat on that post instead of the hundreds others.

The game is up, people are hip to the way you spin things and pawn your own misinterpretations on others as fact. Get your shnit together, this gig is getting old for everyone.

I/m/o, the "front office" is right, and you are wrong.

Let's see what we CAN agree on.

Try this: a QB depends on his O-Line.

P MANNING has had a terrific OL virtually his entire career. So has BRADY in N.E., so has RODGERS, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum. Now look at TANNEHILL. He takes an unholy POUNDING all too often...even when MIAMI wins!

BUT!!!!!!! Do ANY of you recall how he looked on those RARE occasions when our O-Line was healthy and actually showed up on Sunday?

Well I do! He was eating opposing "D"s for lunch, and having no trouble AT ALL doing so. I've come to the realization that QBs SHOULD take their O-Linemen to Dinner, "early and often" as the saying goes. Solid O-Linemen are the difference between BART STARR and MILT PLUM. And as a postscript, the HBs should kick in some $$$$$, too: JIM BROWN DID! So did WALTER.

All I'm saying is that we should focus on, and not miss, WHAT THE REAL PROBLEM IS! I mean, we've all seen the real problem...admit it, DOLFANS. WE HAVE!!! Any time RYAN TANNEHILL is still standing up after a "4-5 Mississippi" count (like BRADY), HE DESTROYS whatever "D" he's facing, whether that "D" is all future H/O/Fers or a bunch of BOZOs. But how many times does he get "4-5 Mississippi"??? NOT VERY MANY (UN-like BRADY).

One last thing. This last off-season, there was a veteran, topshelf G out there that PHILLY (I think) let walk. I remember saying "Thanks, Lord"! MATHIS was there for the taking, and we had LOTS of "cap space". It would've taken (if I remember correctly) c. $4.5-5 Million. So what does MIAMI do? WHAT DOES CHEAP, STUPID, FU**ing MIAMI DO? Fu**ing NOTHING, THATs WHAT. And now, RYAN TANNEHILL, our NEW $20 Million Man, is paying the freight! WITH THE POUNDING HE IS TAKING, WEEK AFTER WEEK, HE MIGHT NOT LAST LONG...at all!

I feel badly for ROSS. He's willing to spare no effort or expense. All he wants is a WINNER in MIAMI. But this franchise has been SO STUPID, for SO LONG, that i/m/h/o, he's UNLIKELY to get one.

    A shame, don't you think?

Not so sure I believe the front office behind closed doors is all that satisfied with their huge investment at QB. Barring any drastic changes in his play....Ryan won't be a Miami Dolphin after next year.

Protection could certainly be better, but so can the ball placement. Or the decision making. Or the pocket presence. But you said it yourself- Tannehill has looked awesome on "rare occasions". There's no denying that...when he's good, he's great. But that's been 7-8 times out of 60 and we haven't seen one of those games for a full season (and yes, I don't count the game where he threw 3 five yard passes and picked up 3 TD's and 175 yards for it).

And I've showed the stats more than once....Tannehill is pressured around 1.7 plays per game more than Brady is. So you can easily say that our line play wipes out a critical drive or two per game, especially with Fox out there. But when we have a single game with ten 3 and outs, it's DEFINITELY NOT just the line. That's dragging our entire defense far too often and forcing them to play tired...but where's the sympathy for them? They don't get it though....we just say "they suck" regardless of the reason. But we do the exact opposite with Tannehill....we say "he's great" even when he puts up the season's worst passing record.

And I'm with you...why the heck didn't we sign Mathis? He floated out there on the open market for months, yet we were too dumb to pull the trigger. But Mathis wouldn't have "fixed" this offense in the way that you were hoping for, because we have a lot more problems than just the line. Heck, just look at Dallas...best line in the league by a wide margin, yet they have 1 win (and 8 losses) this season without Romo on the field.

Tannehill needs a better line....that's a definite. But he also needs to stop standing in the pocket and getting crushed. Wilson has the worst line in football yet he's having a pretty good year, because he knows that his line sucks. Heck, he was one dumb pass away from a 2nd Super Bowl ring despite being the most pressured QB in the league last season. So again, it's not JUST the line. Tannehill has plenty of fault as well.

In fairness, the defense sticking was the first part of this year. They've been better the last couple games. The beginning of the year, they let up plays all game long, not just in the fourth when they were tired.

Some want us to believe he's being "coached" to stand back there like a statue, even though he knows his line can be leaky at times. He knows which guys up front are having issues. There is no way in hell a coach is going to get on him for anticipating it and showing fancy footwork in the pocket. I'm not even taking about taking off running.

I already posted the scoring stats by 1st and 2nd quarter. The defense has kept them in the game in the 1st half for the vast majority of the year. On average they do not give up more than a lone TD in either of those two Q's.

Yeah, I replied to you about that in another thread. I wouldn't say he's "coached" to just stand there...I think he's been over-coached so much to play so perfect, that he forgets about possible pressure in the first place. So I agree and disagree with you at the same time.

All young QB's are coached that way though and it's because the turnover battle is top priority. IMO, doesn't give the QB an excuse to go hide inside of his own head all game.

Tannehill has his deficiencies, no doubt. But he does enough to have an effective offense under reasonable circimstances.

In the same vein Lamar Miller is a decent enough back, just don't ask him to do what Lynch, Peterson, Bell, etc do bc he's not that type of player.

Keep RT in a balanced offense, 28-30 att per game and he will do fine. Very few QBs can succeed in the role RT is currently playing.

Please stop with this idea that the defense only gives up a td in the first half. Most games they've given up double digit scores in the first half. That's not them being tired. That's the defense sucking. 9 out of 12 games with double digit scores in the first half.

That's much different than the picture you're trying to paint, Rock.

Of course it doesn't. But if you tell a QB to do something and they actually do things worse after you told them, then there's either a communication issue (on the coaches) or something else entirely (on Tannehill). I'd say that in this case, it's about 70/30 on Tannehill...but there's enough blame to go around.

I'm basing it on something obvious. He's had 4 years to prove to his OCs that he can audible successfully. He hasn't.

I don't care how bad an OC is. Any OC can tell if he's making the right audible.

I was just thinking as much as i hate Winston i keep hearing playoff talk with the Bucks.I mean you got a rookie QB coming into a new system'coaches winning games for his team that sucks worse than the Finz for years. It sure looks like a good QB makes a big difference..Anyone know where we can get one of those?

Your statement was unclear to me. It sounded like you were saying that they only give up a td in the first half.

Either way, you're trying to make a case that isn't really there. More often than not, they've given up double digit scores in the first half. 9 out of 12 games, double digit scores in the first half. In 5 of those games, they've given up 19 or more in the first half, that's 3 scores. You're acting like they only give up points in the second half when they were tired, but, the reality is, they've been giving up points like a drunk prom date, all game long.

You can try and twist this all you want. I know what I said.

Let's look at it from this perspective .....

On the games where they gave up double digits in the 1st half (at the time I provided the #'s), the offense only provided:

    - 13pts
    - 0pts
    - 7pts
    - 0pts
    - 7pts
    - 13pts
    - 7pts
    - 0pts

The offense rarely keeps the other team honest in their approach. The defense is constantly playing with a deficit. "When" they begin to wilt is almost semantics at this point because A: they're not deep and they've experienced injuries and B: They don't play as aggressive as if they were playing with a lead.

No, it's not semantics. People have been arguing the defense needs a pass, because the offense has had them on the field so long. I've asked, several times, why can't the defense stop teams early on? Look, in five games, the defense has allowed double digit scores. I realize there were a couple safeties in there, but overall, the defense has not been stingy in the first half of games.

When you said "in either of those two quarters," that didn't sound like you were specifying per quarter. Regardless, my point still remains.

Yes it is semantics. The offense doesn't score enough points regardless of the games where some teams have jumped on our defense early, the proof is in the pudding. Do we even have to get into how many three and outs and average offensive drive time again?

The offense is pathetic whether the defense is or is not sturdy in the first half. It's the same regardless.

That's a completely different argument, though. Nowhere have I claimed that the offense scores enough points. I'm merely countering the idea that our defense only is giving up points in the second half of games, due to being tired.

The point, is that the losses are a collective team failure.

The only way you can prove that is if we didn't have a bunch of 3 and outs and we didn't lose time of possession by too much.

What do you think OCs do? They constantly evaluate what more they can do to help the offense.

We're talking about a guy that's been here for nearly 4 seasons. All that offseason time, all those practices, all the film study, all those games, and you think he hasn't been given more than enough chances to prove he can audible well?
