There is no such thing as rebuilding. It comes down to making the right decisions in the offseason from a personnel and coaching standpoint.

Wow. Really? We're going to let his solid MNF performance overshadow nearly 4 seasons worth of games? He hasn't been awesome all these years and the defense hasn't been terrible for all these years.

I'm perfectly willing to admit he was let down by teammates and coaches but for people to say this game is a microcosm of the Tannehill era is ridiculous. He hasn't been anywhere near consistent either.

Many people define that as rebuilding, but if you don't, I'm okay with that.

I totally disagree on Tannehill aspect, I do not believe he is a franchise QB, on MNF he missed on several open receivers or threw behind them. Take it the Landry penalty did hurt us, but Landry was open on that third down and Tannehill threw a horrible pass and not even close to connecting. What we need is a Head Coach who has experience in the Nfl, who can surround himself with other quality coaches, you get those things in place and maybe rebuilding could take less time. Also I believe we should leave it up to the new Head Coach if he wants to keep Tannehill or trade him.

Yup, I remember not being able to stop Riggins and then losing another SB to the 49ers because they couldn't stop Craig. Really sad.

The problem with that is what good (if there is a good) x NFL head coach will want to come here?

As long as the new HC isn't forced to accept Tannehill (unless he wants to keep him), and he's given full control over his assistants, Miami should be a good place to come to. Talent-wise, this team isn't that bad compared to some other bottom-dwellers.

The problem with me is how many good x head coaches are there, and if they are an good X head coach, why don't they have jobs now?

That's always a problem, but you always have a few previously successful coaches in the mix (because fans/ownership tend not to tolerate too many losing seasons, even if the coach was successful years ago). Point is, as long as we give the HC the necessary level of control, I don't think Miami will be an undesirable place to come to.

How much control do you think Tannenbaum going to give the next HC? More appropriately, is any HC candidate really worthy of running your team like that?

Other than the decision over Tannehill, giving a HC control over who his assistants are (the only other thing I mentioned) is pretty standard. Regarding Tannehill, all I'm saying is you really could drive away potential coaching candidates if you force them to accept Tannehill. What Tannenbaum does I don't know, but if he has any inkling of a football brain, he'll see coaching as the biggest problem on this team. So the priority should be to get the right set of coaches here, not to force the franchise to be built around Tannehill (this would be different if it was clear Tannehill was a franchise QB). And if that's the priority, you gotta let the future HC make the decision regarding Tannehill.

My pie in the sky dream is Miami puts a packaged trade together which involves Miami trading Tannehill a a couple of draft picks to New Orleans for Peyton and Bree's. Before anyone goes off the rail I know Bree's in no longer a young man and is approaching the end of his career, but I believe he could easily put three good seasons in and also mentor any future young QB prospects.

We've had a lot of turnover in the coaching department fairly quickly, an owner that never cleans house and has hidden his intentions before. There's no reason to trust him.

Granted, the deep safeties/center fielders we use are trash and there was a lot of cover 3 going, probably not a good idea, but Beckham is a stud, give him his due before bashing the secondary.

People are killing Grimes when in reality he's never been a shut down type guy and he's being asked to follow All Pros all over the field, ODB, Marshall, Bryant, Watkins, Hopkins, there might be 3-4 corners in the league who can do what's being asked of Grimes.

If the next head coach doesn't think he can win with Tannehill, then he has no business being the next head coach.

I haven't changed my tune about Tannehill. I think if anything if we keep playing competitive offensively, and keep padding his stats, it will drive up his worth in a trade.

Win what? That's the question. Hue Jax/Sean Payton might like him, but not love him. They might love Jared Goff or Paxton Lynch.

Tannehill has all the tools. He's shown he can actually play and play at a high level in this league. Most of his issues are coaching and scheme.

So if a coach doesn't think he can take that player to the next level, and instead, would rather go for a rookie that says 2 things:

    - He's poor talent evaluator
    - He probably won't be able to develop talent and is probably a scheme based coach instead of a "adapt to his players" coach.

Not to mention a lot of playoff games where we couldn't stop Thurman Thomas either. Screen plays....ugh
